Thinking Warm

Today on the Bella Blvd blog they are featuring summer projects using Family Dynamics. Here is a look at the project I created...
Now, if only the weather here in Wisconsin would cooperate and bring on the weather that goes with those state fair pics. It's been a long, long, long wait this spring for those warm, sunny days.

Star Struck at 70

This weekend I went to Barnes and Noble to pick up a book called Dog Heaven. While I was there I saw there was some commotion on the second floor because of a book signing. The man in the center was Red Green. I personally am not a fan, but the boys in my life love him and his grey tape.

I texted Connor a picture (that didn't come through) and explained that "Ray" Green (woops, told you I wasn't a fan) was at the mall. Connor quickly called me, asking what I was talking about, and then asking, if it wasn't too much, if I could get him a book and autograph.

So I did, and had a not so lovely photo taken with the nice man.

Red signed the book "to Connor and Kevin, From Red Green" and I brought it home to a couple of happy boys. But I never thought of the other boy that would like the book...my dad. When he opened the book and started reading, his face was cover with a big smile.

So today on my Dad's 70th birthday we are signing the book over to him "to Grandpa, from Connor and Kevin". And Connor conjured up this photo for him...

Happy Birthday Dad! I'm sure Red Green would say the same.

is saying hello to a new one.

Sleepless Night

I had trouble sleeping last night. The beagle, who sleeps at the foot of my bed was not snoring during the night like she usually does. Strange that that wouldn't make me sleep better?

The reason it kept me awake is because we were told this week that she has a tumor. News that has made me hypersensitive to any change in her behavior, even a lack of snoring. News that has Ricky and I deciding how long to wait before we put her to sleep.

These are the times I hate being an adult.

We've shared the news with our kids and they are understanding. I know for sure our old friend has received a few extra treats and some additional attention to make her life a bit more special these past few days. And we have had some good conversations about how everyone is feeling.

Delaney came home from school yesterday with a letter for Mable...
She wrote a little note on the top, "I love you Mabble! I hope you hav fun in heaven! Eet all the trests you can! I hope u see Gladys (that is our neighbors dog who just died this week). Now wen I see u I crie."

Me too:(
