New Post!
Well, I hope you have all had sufficient time to memorize the Thanksgiving Proclamation...because it's time for a new post! Now, I know some of you might be sad that the trendy Christmas background has been replaced, but I assure you that there will be another one next Christmas/Valentines/St. Patrick's.
Everything is going well for us : ):
Karl is still working for the Forest Service, and fire season is already about to start. I can't believe how fast the winter went by! I need to start thinking of fun projects to work on while he's gone this summer : ).
I am still working at Primrose Retreat, which I love : ). It's so fun to meet so many different people and help them relax and feel good about themselves. And by the way, if any of you want glitter toes you should come by and get them! And if you don't know what they are -suffice it to say they are the cutest things for your toes this summer, and besides that I would love to see you if you come in : ).
Our little dog Gus celebrated his first birthday in February, and fully enjoys being a dog. He's been the best little companion to have while Karl has been away at meetings these last couple of weeks, and he'll keep me company during the summer as well. Don't worry - I have people friends too ; ).
I hope you are all doing well and that you had a good winter and are enjoying the beautiful spring season. Oh, and I'm going to make a diligent effort to keep my blog updated! I just need more interesting things to write about first ; ).

Thanksgiving Proclamation
"It is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God; to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations are blessed whose God is the Lord.
..................................................
We know that by his divine law, nations, like individuals, are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world. May we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war which now desolates the land may be a punishment inflicted upon us for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole people?
..................................................
We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven; we have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown.
..............................................
But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us.
.............................................
It has seemed to me fit and proper that God should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November as a day of Thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens."

Creatively Carved Gourds
Karl and I spent a super fun night with our friends, the Reedys and Leavitts, carving pumpkins and watching fun movies. Here is what we all came up with...Karl's pumpkin - a scary skeleton.
Joe's pumpkin - the Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington.
Karl & Joe's creation - Boots the monkey from Dora the Explorer. He turned out great!
If any of you haven't carved pumpkins yet this year - you should : )! It was so much fun.

Gus Got in Trouble Last Night
Karl and I went to our friends' house on Sunday, and took Gus with us to play with the Taylor's dog, Jack. The two of them were playing quietly outside for two hours, and when we opened the door to let the them in at the end of the night - there was Gus completely covered in mud! There was also a freshly dug hole in the Taylor's lawn : (.
Jack, however, was so good; he was hardly dirty at all. I imagine him standing there watching as Gus dug madly in the dirt searching for worms.
I had to wash him twice to get the mud out of his fur. He was so dirty, but so good during his bath : ).
I think he looks a little remorseful in this picture, and he should be after what he did!
Which Twilight Character am I...?
You are thoughtful and care very deeply for your family. A loving home is of great importance to you and you always try to make people feel welcome. Although you have a great capacity to love, you also have a great capacity to hurt, so at times you can be sensitive. You're firm when you need to be, but people trust your judgement and appreciate the kind way you always handle things.

Gus & His Rider
I love this picture of Gus! Gus has a best friend named Jack Bauer, and Jack let Gus try on his Halloween costume last Sunday. I love the look on his face : )!
It's Halloween-Time!
I can't believe it's the middle of October already! I have been thoroughly enjoying the wonderful crispness in the air and the site of all the leaves changing color. In my opinion, fall is definitely the best time of the year : )! I love carving pumpkins and seeing all the fun Halloween decorations everywhere - as long as they're not scary : (. I thought I'd post my idea of a tame Halloween decoration in celebration of the holiday just around the corner.
