In the past two days, I am watching a Singaporean drama which is 小娘惹. My mom told me that it is a nice drama, since in that drama, they prepare a lot of food, which attracts my mom's attention. My mom rarely watch Singapore dramas, since their quality is not so good as the HK dramas. Generally, the Singaporean dramas are not as nice as the HK ones. But they do have nice ones too!

Anyway, 小娘惹 is not about food. The story hits me. It paints the women position in the early 1950. Although, I did not catch up these drama from the start, it is easy to follow. When I do not understand things, I can ask my mom.

Well, the drama hits me because the story is quite realistic. I like movies/dramas that are close to the reality. Compare the Singaporean dramas (generally) to the HK ones, the HK ones are very 'novel' and their (HK) storylines are always the same, which bores me a lot. Besides, the quality of HK dramas drops a lot in the past 5 years. They do not have the professionals at work and the storyline seems like popping out from 1 night of paperwork. The Singapore is better at that respect, but it lacks elements to colorize their dramas. That is why people do not always like watching Singapore dramas. I notice that Singaporean dramas have their bored elements too. But those can be easily eliminated.

Back to the 小娘惹, I want to say that this drama encloses a very nice history about how life is for the Malaysian women in the early 20th century. At that age, there is no 'woman-position' in the society. They are only a kind of machine that stays at home and waiting to be married and getting kids. It was a very tough time for them. But nowadays, I believe that there are women around the world, who are still looked down by men.

Since the women cannot compete with men, they compete themselves. To survive or to be loved by men, they must be the strongest and the most powerful one between the other women. In 小娘惹, you can see how selfish a human can be, no matter which sex you are. The war between the women is also very nice sketched, although one is a humble girl who has no intention to be the Queen of the house.

I like to see the traditional Malaysian culture. Myself, I am a traditional guy too. Being traditional has its good and bad face. The good side is that I believe the goods and the bad side is that I am a closed person.

Anyway, when you are free and want to see a nice Chinese drama, do consider 小娘惹. Simply click on HERE. If you notice that you have the same taste as mine, check other dramas I mention before in this blog.

Now, I want to sleep. Good night and Merry Christmas for those who comes by regularly.

Two weeks ago, I had a Christmas dinner with my friends who I know them for almost 10 years. It all started at the time when the internet in Holland is booming and when I discovered an American website where many Chinese-Dutch-Born (CDB) are chatting with each other. That time, I get know of Lili and Hoiwan. Via Lili, I know Lynette. Today, our friend group extended. Because of their relationship.

A month before Xmas dinner, we (again) spam each other with a lot of e-mails. Via the e-mail, we try to arrange of what&where&when we should do this annual event. Like two years ago, Lili invited all of us to her place for Xmas party. Again, each of us should prepare their own food and bring it to Lili.

The Xmas party was very nice. We ate, chatted and played games. It was my first time to play a Wii game. Although my bro has a Wii, I have never touched it. It was also my first time that I met Rutger. Rutger is the boyfriend of Hoiwan. Although they have been for 2 years, we never get the chance to meet her (new) boyfriend. Rutger is a nice Dutch guy. I think Hoiwan and Rutger will be a happy couple in terms of working area, since both of them are/become lawyers soon.

Let me share some pics with their stories:

The group picture! :) They said I look more fat. :P

Those are our X-mas presents. The green one on the right top is bought by me.

Lili and her boyfriend Samuel.

Hoiwan and her boyfriend Rutger. Hoiwan called his boyfriend "aap" which means in English monkey. Does he look like a mon1key?

Lynette girl! Too pity that her first relatiosnhip ended. But she is not the only single in the house. :P

Okay, myself in the pic. This pic is taken by Lynette's cam. I never understand why people like snapping me while I am in the kitchen.

A picture of two single persons :P

After having a very nice dinner, we go to open all the presents. This is what Lili is asking for.

I didn't expect that Hoiwan is interested in cooking books. Maybe she wants to prepare to be a 101% good wife. :P

Lynette almost forgets what she was asking for. "Did I ask for a photoframe???"

Don't forget to set up the time to work. ;)

Rutger is asking for a nice roman. I hope he will like this one. :)

Last picture of Hoiwan. :)

After we all get our presents, we have to exercise. So, let's play Wii!

This is a game we played.

After playing Wii, we played a board game: Big Brain! :) The competition is guys vs girls. Guess who are the smartest? :P

Because of the big success, we decide to organise another party: game-party :) I am really looking forward to it.

The day after the X-mas party, which ends at 4:30AM!!!!, I was sooooooo tired. I do not have any energy to do something for my study. Francis said that I did not take landscape pics for a while. So here I give it a try:

There is one bad news. Gunjan is leaving Delft. He sent me a personal mail to invite me for his farewell drinks. He does not want to stay in Delft for the Ph.D. position. He decides to work in Belgium. I hope we can still in keep touch although we cannot see each other at the U. Take care Gunjan! I wish you many lucks!!!

This is Gunjan! He finished his M.Sc. in Delft with honor degree.

Marijn is the first one who leaves the party.

Marion, the secretary of the 18th floor.

I Dunno this guy....:P

All the pretty women Ph.D. from the 18th floor.

The smartest people from 18th floor. But I do not belong to them.

A groupphoto! :)

Last Sunday, Yu-Fang was visiting me. I am very glad that she appreciates our friendship. We went to shopping for food. I was on my bike and she said that it had been a while back that she sat back at the bike.

I personal think that Yu-Fang is a veru xin fu girl. She has a very good family since she talks alot about her family, especially her brother and mother. On msn, there is a picture of her with her grandma. Surprisely, she didn't mention about her boyfriend very much. Maybe I ask her more about her boyfriend. :p

Patrick came along last week. He said that he gave up his M.Sc. study. But he bought me a good news as well: he gets a very good job offer from Erasmus. He is well paid and the good thing is, is that he gets paid if he continue with his M.Sc. in Delft. Therefore, he decides to finish his degree. :)

Last weekend, Aletta also came along. She was here for shooting. Let me show you my most recent shoots:

This is a very long post with many pics. Enjoy!:P

Last week, I ordereda 50" Panasonic plasma TV. This Wednesday, this brandnew TV has found her new boss. :) Generally speaking, this TV is not as big as what I expected. The TV quality is so so. I think it is due to the its huge size and the limited resolution of the analog TV signal. I test the TV also with my DVD player. It is not so good as what I expected. So, I am thinking of upgrading my hifi-system. What do I want to get? Hhhmm, I think a high-end blu-ray player. Ya, people said I am a very high demanding guy. Yes I am, when we talk about electronics. :P Also my cams and gears are from high-end classes. But please do not mix my principle with other thing.

The reason that I do not upgrade to the blu-ray player now, because I don't want to waste my high-end DVD player. Recently, I bought some high-end interlinks and speaker cables for my future upgrade. I still have some money to spend. hehehe....But, I think it is also sensible to spend money on other things.

This week, Patrick came to Delft and he talked to me about his serious study problem. It is really said to realise that my U is a very bad U. It is only has a good name, but its education is really bad. Anyway, in our talk, I try to offer him an ideal solution.

Coming weekend and the weekend after, I might not be able to update my blog. Since I have an annual Xmas party with my friends. The weekend after, I have a photoshooting with Aletta. I will try to update my blog in the mean time.
