22 july 2007Yan Ling decided to join us for further bagpacking.
The train from Berlin to Prague is much better than the train from Holland to Berlin. There are enough seats and the interior is much better designed. I sat in other part of the train then where Cindy and Sixiu sat. During the train-trip to Prague, I was listening to the songs on my handphone. I was not sleepy...
Arriving in Prague, I was surprised that they do not use Euros. I thought that almost all European countries use Euros already. Anyway, Prague is a special city: it is very touristic. For every little thing you have to pay. I really do not like touristique city. I personally think you have to be more "open" for tourists. It is not about the money charge they ask for. I do not know how to describe....
There are many tourists walking around in Prague. Remarkable, there are many Dutch. They are quite easy to recognise. Besides the Dutch people, there are also many Chinese people. In Prague, I see a few professional photographers with D2Xs plus the pro lenses. :P
Well, the weather is very nice. But the city itself becomes boring. Maybe I am tired of seeing architecture only.
24 July 2007Today, we join a tour wh bring us to a place to visit a well-known castle outside Prague. which I forget its name. It really does not matter since that castle is really not worth to visit. The only good thing of the visit is getting know more about the castle's history.
We all paid 35euro (per head) including lunch plus transport to that place. This is the most expensive category and I have some services in my mind. But they disappoint me alot. The accompaniment is bad since the guide lost us without his notice. The weather is also bad: rainy and very cloudy.
On our way back to Prague, we passed by a music/dancing theather which is very nice. I took some pics there. One of the pics, can be found below.
At the evening, we have had a delicious dinner in a very good steak restaurant. After having good food, we go back to our hostel. It was 8.30pm only. But since we are told that Prague is not a safe city to walk around during night, we stay at our hostel when the sun sleeps.

Voila, Cindy and Sixiu in front of the well-known St. Vitus Cathedral
Hhhmmm, I forget the name of the building that is behind Cindy

This is inside the castle. I have seen a much nicer castle when I was in Portugal.
This is what I mean with the music/dancing house. Its name is
Dancing House. As you can see, it was very windy.
This is a very famous bridge: Charles Bridge

A groupphoto. Too bad that we cver the view.25 July 2007Today, we are leaving for Vienna. We are in the Supercity (it is a train). It is a nice train, but in the train there are many talks: talks to inform where you are and where they will stop etc. and what kind of services they have. In the beginning, it is nice to listen, but after repeating and repeating, it becomes very annoying.
On our way to Vienna, we passed by many nice sceneries. There are many mountains, valleys and they have many yellow landscapes. In Holland we do not have all these things. It is a bit pity that I cannot take nice pics with my camera from the train.
In Vienna, they speak German. I have been to many European countries and I notice that English is not the most used languages. Spanish and German are (far most) commonly spoken. My German is bad now: I could speak German pretty fluently. But after 6 years, I hardly can make good sentences. The only good thing is, is that I can understand what they are talking or asking about.
My first impression of Vienna is nothing special. It is many architecture again, which bores me already. The very remarkable thing of Vienna is the shopping street. It is an very long street that starts at a metro station and ends at the square where many museums are merged together. Many of the shops do like the shops in Holland: they have the same brands. The foodprice is comparable with Holland: expensive!
26 July 2007Today, I am alone. The ladies are busying with visiting the museums while I spot the hotspots of Vienna. The weather is not very nice: no clouds and only sun. In the evening we plan to watch opera. It is in a public one. This is my first time that I watch opera. I really do not understand why it is spoken in French. I know it is from a French opera, but do Vienna people speak French? Since there is no (any) subtitles.
Oh, it is not a life performed opera. It is from a recorded one. They use a projector to project the opera on the very big screen, that is placed in front of the gigantic cathedral.
The opera itself was so so. Maybe I do not like that because I do not like the way they are acting and the French they are speaking that I do not understand.
Anyway, before the opera starts, Cindy and YanLing play a game with me. The game is just asking me questions. Those questions are also the questions that many people wanna ask but never get answered before. Ya, before I did my exchange in Singapore, I am a very closed person. I rarely share my personal things with others.
Okay, what are the questions? Well, they are just basic questions. Like, have you had girlfriends before? What kind of girls I like? And what are my dreams? etc. What are my answers? Hahaha, I think many of you might already know.
27 July 2007The last day in Vienna and also the end of the Europe Trip. Again, I was alone hanging around in Vienna since the ladies have other plans. Today's weather is slightly better. There is a bit sun and there are a bit clouds.
In the morning I went to shopping. I bought some T-shirts for my brother. And I also want to buy stuff for my youngest brother, but there is nothing that I can buy for him. That also holds for my mom.
After shopping, I went to do shootings. Some of the pics turn out pretty good. But at the end of the day, the weather turns bad.
In the evening, we have our last meal together in Vienna. We went back to the Japanese store where we have had our dinner at the first day. After the dinner, I rush to get the train and it was my first time in my life to miss the train. I am usually in time. Luckily, I can buy another ticket to Holland. The whole train trip took me almost 17 hours!!! Many people in Holland do think that 1 hour of travelling is too much. lol!
Well, the very missing feeling is when I was in the train and leaving the ladies alone. The 18 days being together has built a kind of feeling for them. We share the same room and we have dinner together. I have regret that I can not say goodbye to them, because I also have to rush to get my next train. I really do hope we all can meet when I go back to Singapore.
This is the end of the shopping street. The ladies are looking at the map:
where should we go?:P
This is an office building of the goverment.

Sixiu inside a building which I can't remember its name
After entering the building, we arrive at a square
The last groupphoto in ViennaFrom this trip, I have learned alot of things about travelling together. When I was back in Rotterdam, I have a strange feeling. I feel very lonely. I have not had this kind of feeling before. My room look like one empty sqaure of white walls.
I usually think back at the days I was with Cindy and Sixiu. The way of how we get in touch and the days we get through. During the trip I also think alot of Airin and Nancy: the days in Singapore, the joy and our uncountable smiles. Going on vacation is very nice. I really want to spot more places with my friends. But that will be very hard since many of them are too busy with their stuff.
I wonder how the ladies will be one year later. I called Cindy and Sixiu when they are in the airport. I think they are very happy that they can go home since they really miss their home: family and friends. I sent a sms to Henry to tell him that he should go to the airport to meet Cindy since she misses her brother very much. I am glad that Henry (and her girlfriend) go to the airport. Cindy is very happy and also surprised (Henry didn't bring Cindy to the airport when she leaves for Italy).
From the trip, I get more know of Henry. He is a good brother and his relationship with his sister is extremely good. In contrast to Sixiu with her younger brother, the relationship is the opposite. But the relationship of Cindy and her younger brother is also not so good compare with Henry. The very funny thing is the way of how Cindy and Sixiu call their younger brother's name. From the way of how they call, it is very clear that they are no good friends.
I really like the family of Henry. They must be very happy. Henry and Cindy have good parents. They both still like each other alot. Cindy tells that they usually went out pak-dor: they even watch more movies than Cindy. They usually play kungfu. The kungfu styles of both parents are different: ?wo ming pai? (I forget how they called, but it is about the guy monk group and the gal monk group). Henry has a very nice sister and his sister has a very good brother. They must be very happy.
Well, this is the end of my Europe Trip. When you are interested in other photos: do visit
