Sweet Children

Last week, my brother and his family were at my house. I bought some sidewalk chalk for the kids to play with. My niece Riley (9) drew this awful, yet sadly very accurate, picture of me.
I really wish I hadn't bought that sidewalk chalk.

Pain is Beauty

A few weeks (or was it months?) ago, my oldest niece, Breanna asked me to pluck her eyebrows. She is now 13, and there were some boys at church she wanted to impress. So we got all set up and I got started. She really didn't need it though, she really has nice eyebrows and not a lot of strays. But I figured I would do a little bit so she would feel primped and ready to go. After the third pluck, she said "Ok I'm done." I guess she didn't consider the fact that ripping hairs out of her skin could be a little painful.

Besides, boys really aren't worth that much pain.

Happy Fourth/Sixteenth of July

Ok this is really about the Fourth, but I'm a little (or a lot) slow. So you get it on the sixteenth. Lucky you!
We have been gone every weekend for the last who knows how many weekends, so we (or I) decided to stay home this time. We went to the ward breakfast and bike parade. I really wish I would have gotten a picture of this, it was too cute. The bike parade consists of all the kids bringing their bikes and decorating them with festive balloons and whatnots and riding around the parking lot. They were all so excited, especially the ones who had done it before. They could hardly wait for the breakfast to end so they could go decorate their bikes. Or scooters. Or whatever else they had with wheels on it - I think there was one kid in a little red wagon.

Turns out that I'm not very heat-tolerant when I'm pregnant. I spent most of the day on Saturday in the house with the A/C on and all the blinds closed to keep the heat out. Nick bbqed some steaks for us that afternoon. It was so good, I had to take a picture of it:

Isn't he so cute!

Later that night, when it finally cooled off a little, we went to the Boise Hawks baseball game. It wasn't a very exciting game, but I did get some ice cream. After the game, they lit fireworks. It was quite the production. There were even some synchronized flame bursts. Nick said they had some issues, but I like to think they did it on purpose. You know, to mix it up a bit. Everybody expects fireworks at a fireworks display, but no one expects flames.
