Y Obsessions of 2013~

this being the last entry of 2013, shall be all about obsessions of the year.

[[ one| sk ii ]]

you can see that sk ii is one of my obsessions this year right?
i've basically switched up most of my skincare to it.

i've only grown to really like their products this year.
previously, i don't see much difference in my skin when i was just using the facial essence treatment.

but, i read online that if used together with their clear lotion, the effect would be better.
so after trying them together for quite a period of time,
i really think they do work.
hence, the change in my skincare.

[[ two| laneige water sleeping pack ]]

just like the sk ii, i used to not see any point in using the laneige water sleeping pack.
but this year, i just think it really does hydrate my skin.
may hui says that it's most likely our aging skin is so dehydrated that this mask works wonder for us now and not before.

anyhow.
it's also fabulous for nights when i'm feeling all so lazy.
i would just slap this on after the clear lotion and head off to sleep.
at least i don't feel that guilty about neglecting my skin.

[[ three| bath and body works body scrub ]]

this just smells so heavenly.
i try to include this in my weekly pampering/ detox routine.
but since it's not available locally,
i've got to use it so sparingly and swap it out for other scrubs.

but.
it's alright now.
because i've got two new tubs on the way.

[[ four| sleek blush in rose gold ]]

i didn't get around to using this for months when i first purchased it.
i opened it and was like 'what the heck? it's so damn shimmery!" and immediately chucked it aside.

but guess what?
i'm loving ALL the shimmers now.
mind you, it's jam packed with gold shimmers.

somehow this colour with its tons of gold shimmers works so well for me.
it just gives me such a nice glow without even having to do any highlighting at all.

i must say that i personally think that gold shimmers looks way nicer on me than silver shimmers.
so if gold is not for you,
then this may not be something for you.

the best part is this is a dupe for nars orgasm.
and, it's a drugstore brand.
and, it's available on luxola.com for $14.
and, i prefer this to nars.

[[ five| bags ]]

what more can i say about bags other than declaring it my worst obsession of the year?
i guess it has always been, just that i didn't restraint myself much this year?

oh yes.
i'm very into using furry balls as bag charms.

enough said.
reveals/ reviews of each of them will be up sooner or later.
at least my celine one is cleared already.

lastly, just a short summary about 2013.

2013 hasn't been that good a year for me, especially when i was in the dumps for a good quarter of the year.
i've never felt so depressed for the longest time.
seriously.

but.
i'm very thankful that my close friends and cousins were there to help me and encourage me.
honestly, if you're reading this, a major thank you to you.

of course, the trip to europe was just so god damn fantastic.
things just got so much better after the trip.

well.
let's hope that 2014 will be a much much better year for all of us!
to the boy and that boy who got away, cheers!!!

Y Sonata Pathetique~

Beethoven piano sonata no 8 in c minor, 2nd movement [aka sonata pathetique] has just been my recent obsession.
i love it so much that i've been practising a lot more often than usual.

coincidentally when i searched it on youtube,
i found this video by li yundi.

fyi:
the other world renowned pianist from china aside from lang lang.
also, he's sunya's favourite.

anyhow, a little digression here.

since young, i hardly know anyone around me who learns music.
it's a bit weird that friends in my seconday school didn't really learn music.
i mean, shouldn't it be a trend for convent girls to go for music lessons?

the only ones i know who did back then were clarissa and rebecca.
but they weren't exactly friends i really wanted to hang out with.

the only time i found myself surrounded with people who are very into music was when i was teaching part time in prelude music studio.
i guess as music teachers, we have to have some form of passion, interest right?

basically i'm trying to say i don't know anyone who is close to me who learns music.
that's a bit sad because during those times when i wished there was someone who share or understand my interest,
there's mmm... nobody.

seriously.
sad.

that's how i ended up going for piano or symphony concerts on my own and being comfortable with that.
if i have a concert i badly wanted to attend, i would rather go alone than to drag someone along and have that person sleep beside me.
that's just plain embarrassing.

but.
the situation has changed for the better ever since sunya got obsessed with li yundi.
that's how we ended up going for lang lang's concert together.

yup.
conclusion is that i'm glad to have found someone who somewhat shares the same interest as me.
somewhat being the key word here.
haha.

Y

today's post is going to be about food, i guess.
the amount of food photos in my phone is ridiculous!
so let's just clear some of them today.

[[ quite some time back ]]

dinner with muay fan at the ship.
don't i look mad weird in the photo?
i think the way i tilted my head is super ridiculous!
it's amazing that it didn't hurt the least bit!

needless to say,
i looked mad tiam jiat and happy with my food.
hahaha!

a bit of background.

every time we have something nice,
muay fan will start taking all the photos and then put them into a collage before sending them to me.
so here's how i ended up with collages of food.

more next time.
slowly yes?

[[ sunday ]]

weather on sunday morning was good.
at least it wasn't raining just yet.

we had brunch at the prive cafe.
it's such a beautiful place.

basically we all had the same dish except with different drinks and style of eggs.
pretty boring huh?

the food was alright though i do prefer the food over at rider's cafe.
but i can totally sit there for hours, catching up with my friends or family.
it's just a pretty relaxing way to spend your sunday.

this is a photo especially taken for sunya.

before you go thinking that i bring a toy everywhere with me,
it's a 'car' accessory turned bag charm.

i use it for just two bags of mine.
it isn't exactly suitable for all kinds of bags.

anyway.
after brunch, we took a little walk around.
literally little.

next stop was vivo city where we attempted to get some christmas shopping done which we failed terribly at.

i haven't been to vivo city for a while and i was amazed by the amount of children there.
it's definitely not something you see in town.

dinner was at jamie oliver.
we made a reservation like three months ago and it turned out that there wasn't even a queue on a sunday night.
= =

for starters, we had crispy squid and beautiful trio which was a today's special.
basically, the beautiful trio is bruschetta with toppings on top.

the bruschetta is definitely not something i will ever forget in my life.
it's life. changing. bread.

definitely not for the faint hearted.
i wouldn't recommend ordering something that's not found on the menu.

moving on to entrees.

clockwise from top left:
crab spaghetti, seafood marinara, sea bass, truffle risotto.

a brownie to end the meal.
the amaretto ice cream tasted strongly of almonds and weird on its own.
but it went surprisingly well with the brownie.

i'm clearly really inspired by the first photo of this entry.
i just can't seem to get to tilt my neck to THAT extent no matter how hard i tried.
nevertheless, funny enough.

we obviously finished ALL the food.
just check out the sea bass which died a honorable death.
despite all the empty plates and my thumbs up,
the meal was seriously JUST ALRIGHT.

i don't see myself going back there anytime soon.
in fact, none of us would i think.

[[ wednesday ]]

i met up with muay fan for dinner and also to listen to her complaints.
hahaha.
it was pretty entertaining though.

we had desserts at Antoinette.
chantilly for her and versailles for me.

the chantilly was nice but the versailles was just alright.
#cakesshouldnevergoflourless

now, for something "special",
i'm ending with a 'hair of the day' photo.

it's my first time wearing this hairstyle out.
i shall try to improve on it the next time round.
by the way, i used quite a bit of hairspray and hair 'glue' here.

that's that.
ciaos~

Y

i'm in such a SUPER good mood today.
the below are some possible contributing factors:

[[ one ]]

i used my new bag and new 'bomber' jacket today.

*thumbs up*

[[ two ]]

we had some christmas shopping done.
i don't like to leave christmas shopping till the very last minute.
i hate being hard pressed for time.

however, i enjoy window shopping during the last few days of christmas because everyone else in the malls seems to be frantically clearing their christmas shopping list.

[[ three ]]

i've got a wonderful christmas present from becca!

we asked each other what we wanted and bought each other just that for christmas.
very boring right?
but not for me.

i do not like the element of surprise.
remember?

[[ four ]]

our trip planning is FINALLY showing some progress.
all thanks to my brother.
we're all so thankful for his decisiveness.

i'm just so happy that the planning is taking up some form.
at least we all know now that it is something the four of us really want and not something that is just plain talk.

that's that.

p/s: happy birthday to my hero!!

Y #朗朗x棒棒

since the last update,
there have been a few exciting things that i really want to share.

what shall i start of with first?
oh yes!
the MOST EXCITING OF ALL!

many thanks to sunya who treated me to both the gala lang lang live and lang lang in recital.

the story is that we had both agreed that we would go for the recital together.
what i didn't know was that she bought a single ticket for me for the gala lang lang live as a surprise super belated birthday present.

alright.
i admit.
i wasn't so happy about my present.
i mean i have to attend the concert alone, not that i've never done that before.

anyway.

but.
it turned out to be the best birthday present this year.
i was so~~~~~~~~~~ happy that i could hear him play live.

even before the concert started, i was getting all so excited already.
not kidding man.

no doubt he only played for like half an hour with the SSO,
i still had the recital to look forward to on saturday.

so came saturday...

omg.
his performance that night was so~~~~~ good.
BRAVO!!!!

#朗朗x棒棒

there has to be a next time.
i HAVE to make it for his next performance here.
i've missed it once a few years back already.

anyhow.
i think i'm getting a tad obsessed.
any lang lang related christmas present will be greatly appreciated!
haha.

p/s: i'm listening to his album as i'm blogging.
i was right about being obsessed with him, wasn't i?

moving on.

i spent a couple of days shopping with muay fan the previous week.
and we did pretty well.
at least it wasn't like a waste of time.

moving on.

the previous sunday was my cousin's wedding.
yes.
yet another cousin's wedding.
this time i was roped in to do so many jiat barang chores for a so damn not close cousin's wedding.

i guess there just isn't any chance for us to get close since he's based overseas most of the time.
and he was just back from new york with his bride for the wedding.

oh well.

i ended up being the driver as my car was one of the jie mei car troop.
so did fang ping and ke lei.

my bro?
he became my cousin's brother.
hahaha.

anyhow, fang ping and i weren't really too happy about the amount of stuff we were assigned to do.
seriously.
*roll eyeballs*

no doubt we were given a pretty big ang bao,
but still..... we can easily forgo the ang bao.

well....
here's a photo of some of the cousins.

sorry.
no picture with the bride and groom because i looked a little sulky in there.
please.
anyone who made like 6-7 trips a day would have looked sulky too.

lastly.
last friday was black friday and today is cyber monday.

sunya informed me at first hand that shopbop's black friday sale had already started last tuesday.
i made an impulsive buy that very night and it just arrived today.

if you want to see what i got from the designer boutique,
stay tuned.
i think i will use it this sunday.

anyhow, the black friday sales is just so overwhelming online till the extent i didn't really dig for deals.
but.
i did get something else during this sales period besides from shopbop.
i doubt it will be here soon.

well.
till then.

Y November Birthday Celebrations~

last saturday was so busy for me.
first of all, it was my godbrother's wedding which i wasn't invited to.
before you start thinking that it's weird,
i'm not the least bit close to him even though he's my godbrother.

anyhow, i had to drive ah ma to his place for the tea ceremony in the morning.
after dropping her off, winnie and i went to toast box for breakfast.
after breakfast, we picked her up again.

a photo of ah ma and her mum.

because of his wedding, i became like some 发布中心.
my grandaunt and godma would sent me all those photos taken and i've got to forward to ma, ah yi and huat jiujiu.
seriously...

for a moment, i was like "omg! isn't that bridesmaid rebecca??"
even debbie and may hui agreed with me!
but, it proved to be someone else.

moving on.
after sending ah ma home, i went back home to get ready for that night's dinner at rise at mbs.
we had planned to celebrate both may hui's and javier's birthday there.

it so happened that it was the first day of Chanel's Little Black Jacket Exhibition over at the art science museum.
of course i had to go take a look at it.

after looking at the exhibition and shopping around,
we headed for dinner at rise.

i do think that the buffet spread at rise is just slightly better than over at the line.
for me, the most worthwhile sections are the seafood, desserts and bread.

there was quite a big selection of breads.
and i didn't try any which wasn't nice.
but, some of them are super duper hard.
i love them though!

when i go for buffets, i usually don't fancy the dessert corner.
this time round, i was pleasantly surprised by their desserts.
the tarts were nice and all the chocolate desserts i tried were so good.
i'm wondering if they sell whole chocolate cakes.

yup.
that's that.

Y driving randoms~

just sharing some random bits about "driving".

[[ colour ]]

i actually changed the colour of my car to a bright red last december.
it was perfect timing because i just left my car at the workshop before going to bkk.
the job took about a week.

anyway, there's a little story as to why bai baba and i decided that we ought to change the colour.
but we shall not get into that.

i didn't like the original red my car make came in,
so i ended up choosing a mazda red, if you do get me.
i'm almost certain that my car is the only make in that particular red and it's way more beautiful than the original.

needless to say, there's a price tag to changing the outlook of the car.
but, we did somehow recuperate the cost through some other means.
so you can say that the job was free of charge.

the other day when i was washing my car, i was actually approached by this guy who was also washing his car.
he asked me about my car colour and stuff.

i was like 'woo... someone did notice that my car changed its colour. it must be really eye catching and pretty now. wow.'
i mean... even though this came like more than half a year later.

[[ tyres ]]

so that day, i drove into an Esso petrol station to pump my tyres.
the thing about my tyres is i'm constantly paranoid about them.

first off, i started worrying about when exactly do i have to change them.
so finally came the time i had to change them, i was 'phew.. load off.'.
now, whenever i go to a tyre shop to fix whatever crap, or send my car for servicing,
i'll definitely ask the mechanic when i have to change them.

next up, i started worrying about flat tyres.
that was because i experienced it once and i had to call a mechanic to come and fix it for me.

from that day onwards, i'm forever checking on them.
'mmm.. this looks flat to me. maybe i should go pump it before something happens.'

anyway, i'm very used to pumping my own tyres.
like who doesn't especially if you're a frequent driver?

but when i started out, i was like how the heck am i supposed to do this?
and no one EVER volunteered to help.

however, that day was so different.
i was approached by this guy who works there and he actually volunteered to do it for me!
the first time ever since i started driving.

OMG.

honestly, that was such a nice gesture.
mind you, there was a slight drizzle that day.

i genuinely appreciated his gesture.
even though i ended up rejecting his offer and doing it by myself.

p/s: if you encounter punctured tyres or a flat battery here or even in jb,
you can call steve at 96888773.

he saved me twice.

1. the flat tyre incident.

2. one chinese new year eve, i stupidly forgot to off the hazard lights and happily went for reunion dinner.
by the time i came back, i obviously couldn't start the car.
wonderful.

it's of course going to be way cheaper if you can manage to get to a workshop on your own.
but hey!
i'm desperate for help!
i need someone on site to solve my problem.

yup.
take down that number if you're a driver and have no one to turn to during such times.
he may be your savior too.
