July 24th

On Thursday the actual 24th we had a barbecue with some friends. There was delicious food, good company and a fabulous driveway firework show.

Travis has been boasting that he is going to marry Ellie. I think they are off to a good start.
Macie and Kayla, just being Macie and Kayla.
The crowd being dazzled by Clay and Clark's fire work show. What is it with boys, fire and things that blow up? Once the fire work was lit, Travis would get as close as we would let him and do silly crazy dances. Of course Nate soon joined in. It turned in to a dance production with fire works in the back ground. Thanks Emily for the great pictures!!

Weekend Camping

We went camping last weekend at Pine Lake. We went to one of our favorite spots. It is a beautiful meadow with a creek running through it. The kids love to play in the creek and it is not too deep that we have to worry about them getting swept away. Two other families camped with us, which makes for alot of different personalities and alot of fun. We sang songs around the camp fire and played a game called Big Budda. Kacie lead the game and the songs. It was nice for me not to have to lead and to meet a fellow campfire song and game enthusiust.

Here we are by our tent. Tent camping is the best! We truly were comfortable with our blow-up mattress and our new sleeping bags. It was quite a pleasant night sleep which I can really appreciate after having spent other camping trip nights cold and miserable.

The big hit as always was roasting marshmallows. Nathan spent a good share of his time holding his roasting stick about two feet from the fire. I don't think it was even luke warm but he was doing what the older kids did and was loving it.

Each family brought a four wheeler. We had a great time exploring the trails around the lake. We went to a amazing spot called Powell Point. The view was breath taking. For our family the joy riding was cut short when I popped the tire on a sharp rock ooops.

We stayed camping a day longer then our friends. Our camp was about 30 miles from Clay's parents home in Tropic. They came up on day two and had lunch with us and we all took a hike.

The boys fell asleep the first night on Clay while we were sitting around the camp fire. It was past 11:00pm and they had a full day of playing.

The Bonhams are always fun to be around. They will definitely be missed when the leave Kanab. I am starting to see a pattern here. First the Boltons leave and then the Bonhams. Hmmmm do we need to bath more? We also had fun getting to know the Troys better. They are a great family.

The kids had fun with light sticks. Luckily we had enough for each kid to have their own. As it got dark the kids played in the meadow with their sticks. The adults visited around the fire. We would glance out in the meadow and count lights to make sure all the kids were accounted for. Here is Travis, Tyler and Cooper

The very fashionable light on my head came in real handy for the ladies when we had to go find a tree after dark.

Nathan is Two!!!!!!

Happy B-day Nate!! I can't believe my baby is two years old today. We are so blessed to have Nathan as part of our family. He brings all of us so much joy with his happy personality and loving nature. He loves to be apart of everything and hates to be left out. He thinks he is as big as his brother and spends a good share of his day tring to keep up with Travis. He is such a Mamma's boy right now and I am loving every minute. Nate we love you!!!

Nate's comforts

Something I will always remember about Nathan is the way he calms himself by sucking his thumb and holding my hair. He has been my only thumb sucker. It is so cute and convenient. I am sure I will wish I had a binky to take away someday soon, but for now it is charming. The hair pulling has been something I have had to endure. I was confident that my short hair cut would wean him from the habit, but no such luck.

Another one bites the dust

Macie lost her second front tooth. Once again her Dad pulled it out. She is cashing from all these missing teeth. If anyone needs a loan you know who to call.
Clay and I are so grateful for Macie. She is such a good girl. She always tries to do what is right. She is such a big help with her brothers and is especially kind to Nathan. I love having a girl first!

Happy Healing

This is a picture of my parents at Nathan's blessing (2 years ago). It is the most recent picture I have of my Mom. She had knee replacement surgery this week. The surgery went well and her spirits are high. She is a wonderful Mother and Grandmother! She has always taken such good care of me and everyone in her life. I wish I could be up north to see her and help take care of her. I decided with my three kids staying away would be the best thing I could do to help her recover. Mom you are in our thoughts and prayers, We Love you!

July Fourth

We had a great Holiday. We participated in most of the activities the town of Kanab had to offer. They start with a 6:00am cannon blast. Three big booms to be exact. I heard them then rolled over and went back to sleep. We attended the parade and the festival at he park. From 2-6 we hid from the heat in our house. We all took naps, watched movies and I read. It was very relaxing. That evening we had a barbecue with friends and watched the fireworks from our front lawn. It was a great day!!! We were especially grateful that Clay was home with us and not on a Fire.

Kanab is a town of parades. We have many throughtout the year. One of our favorites is the July 4th parade. The kids love to gather all the candy that is thrown. The morning of the parade the weather was overcast and quite pleasant. Here the kids are awaiting the start of the parade.

Yikes! This is only one third of the candy they gathered. I think my sunday school class will also benefit from the this pile (if they are quite).

Here Travis is standing guard over his pile of candy.
Just try to take a piece (I wouldn't).

Our friends the Boltons moved away from Kanab
about a year ago. We were
excited they came back to Kanab to celebrate July 4th . We
had alot of fun spending time with them. We were so
sad when this family moved away. They touched our
lives and hearts by the way they live the Gospel and the good
friends they have been to us.

Macie and Benji picked up were they left off. Great friends!
We have plans for a wedding in about 18 years. I am thinking he will be a good protector.
