Adjusting

I'm not going to lie, adjusting to 2 kids has been hard!  And not just on me and Kam, Grant has had a difficult time with it too!!  Now that Meg is almost 3 months old, I'm finally feeling like I've gotten a handle on some things.  I've at least jumped some of the big hurdles, like figuring out when to shower (this is a biggy!), going shopping with 2 kids, going back to work and leaving 2 kids (for the little bit I do work anyway!), and getting the first child to not totally resent the second child (ok, we're still working on that, but he's pretty good).  I know that there are many more challenges coming my way (can we say potty training is next on the agenda?!) but I am hopeful that things will work out.  I have a wonderful husband and great family and friends who help keep me sane which is very important through this adjustment.  I LOVE being a mommy and I LOVE having 2 kids.  So, bring on the challenges, we'll adjust!!

 I get A LOT of these looks while I nurse Meg :}

 Blissfully asleep!

Aah!  One of the days at the beginning
when he actually wasn't mad at me!

Yup, get used to this look...

One of the ways he's learned to adjust.
It may not be the best thing, but it sure
helps when Mommy's busy feeding his
sister for almost an hour!

Introducing Baby Ballentine #2!!

So, maybe this is a little late since she's almost 3 months old now, but hey, I deserve a break after having a baby, right??

Here goes..

Hello!  My name is Megan Lee.  My middle name is from my mommy's best friend and my first name was a "normal" name for Daddy that Mommy liked too :)  I was born on September 30th at 9:53 AM.  I needed a little more time to bake and came 6 days after my due date.  I was being threatened with an induction to kick me out, so I decided to come on my own terms a few hours before that wretched event (and I enjoyed waking Mommy up at 4:30 AM with labor pains).  Even with the extra days, I came out a good "smaller" size of 7 lbs 13 oz and 20 inches long.  Although I tried to eat a lot while in the hospital, I still dropped down to only 7 lbs 2 oz by the time we came home.  My big brother didn't seem to know what to think of me, but I liked him right away.  I like to look at his face, and Mommy and Daddy's too.  I was born with lots of dark brown hair (with some red highlights) and dark blue eyes.  We're pretty sure my hair will turn out red like the rest of my family.  I like to sleep and I LOVE to eat. I also like to hold up my head to try and look around.  My brother keeps trying to make me like the binky but I'm not sure about that yet, especially when he shoves it in my mouth to stop me from crying!  I think Mommy and Daddy have a hard time calling me by my full name.  Most of the time I get called Meg, sissy, sister sue, missy Meg, little girl, Meggers and my brother just calls me baby!  Even so, I love my little family!!

The first time I met my brother.  I think he's going to
be a good brother to me :)

My little family.  See, I told you my brother wasn't
too sure about me!

Finally home and in my own cradle.

Mommy likes to dress me up and take pictures.
I can thank Grandma for this one, though!

Well, at least Mommy's not disturbing my sleep this time!

Some of my newborn photo shoot.  Aren't I a cutie?!?

See, I told you I like to lift my head up and look around!

Birthdays and Baby Belly

September brings quite a few birthdays for my extended family.  This year, my Grandpa Winkler turned 90!!  We had a big reunion/birthday party to celebrate.  Luckily for me, my doctor didn't restrict me to the Salt Lake Valley for my last month with this baby (he did with Grant, probably because I went to China while pregnant with Grant....) so I was able to go up for it.  As always, it was fun to see family and I thoroughly enjoyed helping celebrate my cute grandpa!

The awesome cake my cousin made!

 There's my boys!

Some of the family checking out the Chinese auction items

Me and two of my sisters-in-law

 My cute little niece

Grandpa and Lisa with the cake she made (sorry about the
closed eyes Lisa! It's the best shot I got!!)

A few days after Grandpa's birthday, it was Grant's turn!  He turned 2 this year.  Since he couldn't tell me what cake he wanted, I decided to make a car cake since he loves cars right now!  I am no professional, but I think it turned out cute and I had fun making it.  After I told Grant what it was, he got really excited about his "cah car" cake.  That made mommy awfully happy!

The finished cake.  If you look in the back, you
can see the picture/pattern I used to make it :)

 Another view

Early morning birthday boy!  We went out for breakfast
before daddy had to go to work!!

 Grant and his cake

 Singing "Happy Birthday"
We had a low-key party with just family there

Trying to blow out the candles.  He accidentally
blew one out before we started singing.

Then his daddy helped him get them blown out.

Time for presents!  The Mickey Mouse from
his Aunt Dantzel was a big hit :)

Pulling his new outfit from Grandma W out
of the bag.  He saw it was clothes and put it
back in the bag without looking to see
the books in there too!  It made me laugh :)

After looking back through my pictures, I realized I had not gotten a good picture of my baby belly with this little girl.  So, at 38 1/2 weeks, I got a couple shots just for the memories.  As I'm writing this, I am 2 days overdue and still waiting for her to come.  Hopefully it will be VERY soon!

I know I'm headless, but I thought it was a good
shot of the belly itself :)

I decided I needed one with my head in there too ;)

And here are my boys enjoying a little Youtube

Random Summer

Since I was pregnant and we moved into our new house, we didn't really do much or go places over the summer.  A lot of time has been spent here at home.  Thankfully, we now have a backyard so Grant doesn't get as stir crazy as he did in the condo :)  Here is our random summer in a picture nutshell...

 Look at that mischievous face!

He loves mom and dad's tub and figure out how to turn
the water on.  He was so proud of himself!  It was
a hot day and he was already wet, so I let him play  :)

We bought bows for baby sister and he wanted
to try them out first.

 Aren't we pretty?!? ;)

Grant's new love, the TV and especially watching
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

He likes to show off his cute little belly!

 Mini golf!!

John and Phantom stayed with us for a couple
weeks as foreign exchange students from China.
I'm sure we were the boring family to be with
but at least we took them mini golfing and then
Kam took them to a movie :)

Grant only really enjoyed this for the first 9 holes...

Sleeping in the car.  I'm not sure where we were going
but I loved seeing him asleep like that!

Splash Pad!!  We live really close this and hadn't tried it
until Aunt Joan and her boys were here for a few days

Aunt Joan tried to get him in the water..

But he wasn't too sure about it!

He was finally brave when he tried to get to a doggy!

 Shopping for clothes for daddy...
 must be a painful experience!

FHE in the canyon with Kam's family.
There was apparently too much
to explore to take the time for a picture!

 He looks like he's plotting...

 Starting the hike with daddy!

He did really good, especially when he had
a doggy to follow!

 The little waterfall

So sad to leave the hike!

Morning tradition- mommy stays lying down while
Grant plays on the iPad :}

Selfie?

And there you go, our summer in a nutshell!
