AHM in the morning was pretty fun.. at least i wasnt THAT shagged when i finished the 10-clique. it just felt different from running 10km in sungei gedong camp. cus in the camp we had to run around the camp for 5 or 6 times to complete the 10km. everything seemed the same throughout; we got to see the same scenery again and again when going round in circles and the feeling was bad. but for AHM it was different; for every single metre i moved forward everything i saw around me was new. the road was pretty straight and flat and the weather was pretty much good most of the time (except for the rain when i was at my 7th km)..

it was pretty much a great experience and i saw alot of my army frens as well as my jc frens around the padang. think i will go for it again next year (anyway i have to lah.. bobian)

---

just met up with wanzhen just now. didnt see her for quite a while.. think it was since the start of the year. wanted to know how she's doing and i guess she wanted to know how im doing.. (haha my life is crap) quite happy to see her lah. hope that i m able to go for MAF immediately after i pass out from AISL as an AI spec. and hope that u wont be so stressed when i see you again! :)

---

this week has been a wee of SOCs. yes i still fail my SOC and im seriously panicking now. if i cant pass by next week i will most probably fail my course. which kinda sucks. my running is still the main problem. and larry is giving us a headache: he wanted us to run 500m in 1:40 when we were in SBO. like WHAT THE HELL?!? think about it. in PT kit we could only run 400m in l:30. it's already impossible to pia 100m in 10sec already in PT kit, let alone in SBO + SAR 21. it was so freaking unrealistic and we wanted to complain. but guess what he said?

"you still fail your SOC. you are a bunch of weaklings, so you dont have the rights to negotiate with me."

like WHAT THE HELL!?

ugh. so none of us managed to complete the 500m in 1:40 loh. but he didnt seem to care and made us go for another round. this time the timing was more realistic: 2:25. but most of us were tired already and my legs just gave way in the middle of the 2nd run. sighs. the feeling was horribly demoralising. sian diao totally. and today after the run my legs are currently giving way now. so sng lah! need to massage for the whole night already. otherwise i will die for tmr's SOC again. NO I HAVE TO PASS.. UGH.

sorry if you all dont understand what im talking about. im just ranting..

"an imagination is a powerful tool. it can tint memories of the past, shade perceptions of the present, or paint a future so vivid that it can entice... or terrify, all depending upon how we conduct ourselves today..."

a powerful quote isnt it?

i read about this quote while doing some random surfing just now. apparently this quote was taken off a part of the garfield comics strip. on curiosity i decided to read the strip and found that it was pretty shocking.. it's unlike the usual garfield comics (which i read during straits times in camp whenever im free)..

then i did some read-up at wikipedia and this was what i got..

"One storyline, which ran from October 23, 1989 (possibly to coincide with Halloween, although the 31st actually fell the following week), is unique among Garfield strips in that it is not meant to be humorous. It depicts Garfield awakening in a future in which the house is abandoned and he no longer exists. This is revealed to have been a dream of some kind.

Some theorize that the end of this storyline actually implies that the rest of the series, the more conventional strips, are all fantasies Garfield is playing out in his head to delude himself from realizing the dark turn his life has taken, as he slowly starves to death in an abandoned house."

OMG how scary was that. imagine garfield dying in his house abandoned by jon..

went for liangsheng's bday party last night.. he's flying over to southampton soon.. ah sighs one by one my frens left me. lol

quite a shock when i reached the holiday chalet. guess who i saw? STAFF ROSE (my driving instructor) and STAFF ANG! like omg la.. didnt know that they are frens of liangsheng. and his mahjong kakis too! hoho what a small world after all. and staff rose's kids are pretty cute (but annoying at the same time. keep kajiaoing me)

ok back to the main thing. and so the CO peeps went and yes i saw my guanyue frens once again. and yes i got tortured by them once again. by all the stupid poking sessions, head-rubbing-cum-hair-messing sessions, leghair-plucking sessions, elbow-jabbing sessions which left a undescribable sensation on my upper thigh (close to my crotch, thanks to dear hansheng), etc. still fun la. got a chance to catch up with alot of people and talked till quite late.

decided to stayover since there's no bus after 2345 and i dont feel like taking a cab home. watched some tv before going to sleep BEFORE MIDNIGHT. how sad is that. dont know why but i was very tired already (and i still am). snored all the way till morning where i came home..

but it was still a memorable event. all the best for your future endeavours and keep in contact! i wonder when can i ever see you again.. :) keep in touch! and happy 21st birthday!

i actually survived the whole week of outfield! woohoo.. and pple have been calling us armour commandos instead of armour commanders because of the things that our section did with our dearest section instructor over the week. shant say so much cus it gets abit boring and mundane but i shall quote from one of my sectionmates who blogged not long ago:

"he does plenty of stuff to us that are totally unnecessary and biased. my
section always packed up the last, not that we are slow, but that he thinks we
are, and he makes us repeat stuff over and over again. he never offers any words
of encouragement, but instead tells us that if we report sick or go out of
course, it would make his life better. or better still, he would be joyful if we
complain that we want a new section commander. Now, what on earth is such a
commander doing here?"

and thanks to him my section has the highest casualty rate during the field camp. one per day. on the 1st day kw fell off from the vehicle and went into concussion. the 2nd day lau's eyes got poked by branches while driving and he had to be evacuated to the nearest hospital. on the 3rd day josiah just collapsed in the middle of training and he was later diagnosed with shock, lethargy, dehydration and flu. at the end of our field training there were only 6 men left to do the cleaning up (the 3 were gone + nic who was excused boots for a week and hence couldnt help out) and it was very tiring compared to the other sections who had more manpower. owells.. armour commandos. cant help it.

haha.. it's over anyway. NO MORE OUTFIELD IN SINGAPORE! NO MORE! ohman i was so happy lah.. my nightmare week is over! :D now it's left with SOC and ROC. think that ROC will be even more shiong. but who cares lah.. shall take each step at a time. shall concentrate on my SOC now.

in retrospect, outfield in armour infantry shld be quite fun. but thanks to HIM it has become a nightmare for us.

but then again.. we really learnt alot. thanks to our horrible instructor and our horrible vehicle, we have learnt to do alot of stuffs DIY. like loading up of rounds the manual way (which was so tiring i tell you. pple crank up rounds but our section uses brute force to push the belt of rounds up the chute. eyeur), distributing the load among us when loading up stores onto our vehicle (thanks to our "uneven load distribution" we were punished by mounting and dismounting the stores like 5 or 6 times up and down the vehicle before he was satisfied), etc.

we learnt it the hard way. but who cares. at least we will remember what we were taught for a longer period of time. and thanks to this fieldcamp im sure my section has learnt to be more humble and take hardship better.

have to write another quick entry before i book in. this book in will be horrendus.. cus tmr's FIELD CAMP! eeeeeeeee 3 days 2 nights.. that means i dont get to bathe for 2 nights and i will be soaked in mud and sweat! ewwww and there's this particular instructor who's a sicko maniac whose threats to confine us and give us loads of extras will eventually come through. i expect myself to be confined this weekend.. cant pin much hopes on enjoying this weekend already :( but it's ok! cus after this week there will be no more outfield in singapore! woohoo!!!

endure.. eugene.. endure.

anyway. was supposed to go kboxing on national day but somehow plans had changed. haha with py having a bad flu the only girls who met the guys at cine were xx xx and xx. HAHA and most of the guys cant sing for nuts. so we had decided to go to settler's cafe at holland v to play board games instead. yups. and that sherman lim ah gong. WALAO HAVE TO SPILL MY PORRIDGE ON MY SHIRT.. you know how horrible it is to smell of sesame oil all over my body? BOO. ok back to the main thingy. went to settler's cafe.. 1st time going there. the place is quite cool. can relax and play board games at the same time. just that the price is abit the expensive but owells. not like im planning to go there every week right. we played 2 games.. bang! and apples to apples. bang! is quite hard to catch but once we know how to play it was fun and mind-challenging le. and we had to say "bang bang bang" all the time so it sounded.. quite stupid. and brainless. but hey we enjoyed it! apples to apples was a totally brainless game. and we enjoyed it.. again.. we love brainless games.. i wonder why :D

caught abit of the parade. was abit disappointing leh. not as grand as i'd expected it to be. maybe it's bcus i have seen loads of parades in army bah. so this ndp parade wasnt as majestic as what i thought it would be. but i had to admit that kaira gong has a nice voice and in my opinion, this year's ndp song rocks more than that "reach out for the skies.. blah blah blah" song last year. HAH!

Oh, my love, it's you that I dream of,
oh, my love, since that day,
somewhere in my heart i'm always
dancing with you in the summer rain.

Every night and every day now,
though I know you've gone away,
somewhere in my heart I'm always
dancing with you in the summer rain.

- Summer Rain by Slinkee Minx

NICE LYRICS! and the song is very nice too.. haha heard it when the class was playing board games in settler's cafe during national day.. go download! quite soothing in my pt of view..

Wednesday, August 09, 2006 @ happy national day!
happy national day! woohoo.. finally 1 day off before all the nightmare starts. lol

anyway, live firing was a BLAST! literally.. imagine oil drums flying around in the air as the bullets strike the targets and the explosions are machiam some hollywood movie.. HAHA! and the sound created by the BX are so.. loud. so.. deafening! it's that kind of sound that rocks your heart and really helps you to keep awake when you feel like dozing off. lol! apart from shooting the 25mm rounds we also got a chance to shoot the machine guns. haha it was an experience really, though i dont see anyone who hit all the targets using the MG. especially during the night when we used the tracers. it felt like some starwars scene where u see laser lights shooting from the guns to the targets 1km away. shiok sia!

and the 2mt (my vehicle. refer to previous post to see the photo) simply rocks at aiming targets thanks to the day elbow and the DNTSS. i dont think anyone knows what they are so i shall speak in laymen terms. it's just some device that allows us to view targets through telescopes and aim properly like those depicted in modern war movies. it's much more accurate compared to those guns like MG where we have to aim using our naked eyes. yups..

but the aftermath sucks. we only got 3+ hours of sleep. and i spent the next day cleaning all the GPMGs. and i cant even finish cleaning one gun in 1 day. how sad is that.

alrights. shall stop here.. going to kbox le! cant wait. and im going home to watch the parade.. how i miss singing all the national day songs..

HAPPY NATIONAL DAY EVERYONE! :D

unknowingly i have passed thru 1/2 of my course in ATI le.

9 weeks. it seems so fast yet so slow. there's still 9 more weeks to go. 6 days of outfield in singapore which includes a 3day2night field camp, followed by an 18-day trip to taiwan for training. seems that my road is still long before i get my 3SG as compared to the others.. pple who are in signals, ASLC, engineers, etc. owell -shrugs-

anyway. parade wasnt as shiok as i expected it would be. and my flu worsened cus i had to marshall in the rain during the rehearsal. but luckily the weather was good during the actual parade cus it only poured after the actual parade. lol. ahmeng said that we did a good job. hahaha of cus la. we did almost nothing mah. just stand there and prevent vehs from moving in and out. ok anyway talking abt flu. my flu has been bad throughout the week. the blocked nose + bodyache + sorethroat + giddyness + whatever you can think off has been very bad. and the best part was that i didnt have a fever cus i could have ATT C immediately and gone home. sighs. luckily this week's programme wasnt that jialat. basically it was prep for range. otherwise i would have pengsan long ago..

and i did SOC with my flu. how amazing was that. i totally regretted doing it immediately after SOC cus my head was so heavy yet it felt like it was spinning and i had this urge to vomit. but i didnt in the end, that's why i felt very very bad. but no issue lah. i could do the low rope! so happy. hopefully i can achieve a timing of below 10:00min (to pass) and pass out from AISL course eventually.

speaking of range. i have to book in tonight! :( weekend burnt! and i m dreading tmr's range. basically we will be shooting MGs and our favourite 25mm gun. and i forgot all the IA drills already. so i really have to pray hard that i dont tio any IA otherwise i will be screwed completely by the instructors.

army aside. i feel that some people are really getting onto my nerves already. i dont want to say who they are but seriously. although i dont get irritated easily it doesnt mean that i wont get irritated. and your constant comments on MSN seriously puts me off. i come online only 2 days a week and to get me irritated these fellas must be really really pro. argh. if you realise that you are the ones who have been pestering me, pls pls pls. be a little automatic (自动一点) ok?

ahwells. not in a super good mood. cus i have to book in tonight and i cant go beach! grrrr.. waiting for national day to come! :D
