this week has been pretty fulfilling bah. started off with a shagged 2-day experience all thanks to section battle drill and ex. catwalk. what an experience it was man! in my 19 years of my life i have never ever run until my jaw dropped down and my tongue stuck out, resulting in me panting like a dog for 30 mins plus. SBD sounded very simple; the objectives of this exercise was to let us apply the various contact drills when we were contacted by enemies. however it reality it was super tiring; by the time we finished our 3rd drill everyone didnt have the energy to run anymore. and we really had to respect ang ku kueh for his neverending energy and stamina! while the rest of us were crawling like babies he still had the energy to cheong the sua.. omg.
ex. catwalk was just like SBD. the only difference was that I WAS THE BLOODY SECT COMM! omg.. it was both mentally and physically draining for me. i had to remember all the drills and lead my 6 men to overrun the enemies. other than that i had to execute the correct drills when contacted (aka i need the correct judgement). tiring it was, but somehow we did it and everyone was glad that ex. catwalk was over. -phew-
morale was kinda high and for many of us it got even higher! cause OC decided to let us have nights off on tues night after 2 tiring days! whee :D and best of all... OC DECIDED TO LET THOSE WHO GOT GOLD FOR IPPT A DAY OFF! :D :D :D surprise surprise.. gold nv felt so sweet before :) after a quick dinner at jurong pt i quickly cheonged home to use the com while the rest were lanning in gimzha..
wed was my day off! had my lunch at ding tai feng with yitian. wow good food good food! we shared around 30 xiaolongbaos for lunch man... yum yum. after that we went to shop in orchard for quite a while before i headed down to hwachong for CO prac. nope im not playing my suona.. i was just visiting my juniors. the 64 juniors were quite shocked to see me in school.. haha. talked for quite a while with them. they sounded pretty stressed as BT 2 is coming.. well reminded me of myself 1 year ago mans. the stress, the anticipation..
after that went into LT3. jiankai was leading chuida in the chuida song. it sounded damn nice. couldnt really talk with most of them as they had to practise. but owell.. once i stepped onto the stage in LT3 all the memories came back to me - how the suona pple slacked during fenzu and dazu. how we piaed for syf and got our gold with honours. how fun it was to be a junior, especially with all the seniors around to play with. how we enjoyed oureselves during tianlaihuiyin.. memories which were not to be forgotten.
had to leave from hwachong back to camp. well my day off was pretty worth it. at least i did what i wanted to do :)
thurs was quite slack.. lectures everyday. and we had our RO very early :) fri started off with me failing my SOC! ARGH! i ran within the timing yet i couldnt do the low rope. aka if i could do the low rope my timing would have been even faster, cause i got stuck in low rope for like 1 min plus! KEK!
"hey... what a way to start a day ahead.." after that had drills followed by outfield. we learnt breaching and at the end of the day some of us had to show what we had learnt to the whole coy. and of course i was VOLUNTEERED by dear ang ku keh to demo. KEK LAH! nabeh.. luckily there wasnt any serious cockups during the demonstration. heng ah. after which chop chop curry pop we went back to coyline, cleaned and sent arms and we had our bookout! =)
yesterday was quite zzZ. didnt do anything much sia. planned to stayover in LJ's house. but something just had to cockup hours before the stayover. DAMN. in the end i couldnt go.. so sian. today's the 2nd day of my 3-day break. i better make good use of it or else it will be damn sian for me.. and next week's gonna be super long. ex. wanderer and chem def. the following week will be hell - 16km march followed by ex. nutcracker and my MOE INTERVIEW! ARGH! imagine going to MOE building after digging trenches for 3 days 2 nights nonstop.. omg..

i dont know why but wth did i dream of myself buying camo cream in the emart shop? hmmm..
anyway. this week was a week of long 4 + sbo + helmet + rifle and not forgetting my dear camo cream! argh. had lots of section training and naxex, aka I SPENT MY WHOLE WEEK IN THE WOODS! hah.. what an experience man. i didnt know the woods existed in singapore apart from the nature reserves before i came into army. now im wrong. totally wrong.
exercise gypsy 1 and 2 were unforgettable experiences. i cant forget how we hollanded while navigating our way at night with ang ku kueh.. how we climbed up the hill and down the slope (aka cheonged sua), bashed through the trees in the dark woods, crossed over streams, waded our way into the mini rivers till the water hit our groin level (and ending up walking in wet boots. hey it felt like your legs were in swimming pools), got your wet and heavy boots stuck in the muddy swamp (which you take eons to lift 1 freaking leg up and out of the swamp), got your whole body pricked by thorns, got stuck and trapped in between the vines, yada yada. nevertheless my detail managed to find most of the checkpoints. but no doubt fatigue level was very high, especially when we walked nonstop for dunno how many hours in SBO + signal set... morale was low when we trekked for hours yet couldnt find our checkpoints. but once we found our 1st CHARLIE PAPA morale was getting high and we were motivated to find the rest of the CHARLIE PAPAs! :)
section training was tiring and shagged as usual. had to carry the stupid SAW around.. and the worst part was to CAMO ON. ARGH.. but our platoon is starting to enjoy CAMO on. especially when we started to draw stupid designs using the black camo paint on your green faces.. we had fun no doubt but it's kinda shiong. we started at around 10am and we go back to camp at around 9pm or so.. sometimes even later. by the time we finished sending our guns back and had our RO we had insufficient time to sleep already. so the next day we would be very zzZ the whole day and our movements would be sloppy. then our sgts will screw us upside down inside out for the sloppy movement. and then the next next day we would be even zzZ... and so the cycle continues. lol..
nothing much to update le. kinda looking forward to next week! thanks to the early bookout and the 3 days weekend! but then it would be confinement week after that.. so sians. come to think of it. it's already 1/2 way through BSLC le. training is shiong no doubt but everyone in our platoon feels fitter le. like me loh.. i actually passed my SOC! =D cheers.. and yes i confirmed a gold for ippt! =D double cheers!

i wanna say a happy good friday to everyone cause good friday's good! why? cause with good friday i have 2.5 days off! =D =D something that i really treasure alot since i have become a part of the "elite" green organisation. heh heh.
well, ytd was pretty well-spent i guess. at least i didnt rot at home the whole day. met up with kenneth, kian and lj at ps and went to cathay to watch "the art of seduction". (i thought it was supposed to be a class outing. dont know why but kenneth showed up. well maybe 'cause py couldnt make it i guess =P) the movie was funny and abit horny. but still clean enough to make it a PG. btw the female lead in the movie looked very sweet and she was very deh. kenneth said it was the norm for korean girls to deh at people, especially guys. i wonder.
anyway. the 2 recruits which i have called to meet us pangsehed us in the end. weijian had to go to beach road and ben.. well he was just not free. haha maybe he didnt dare to let us see his botak head or what. lol. we were chatting on thurs night about his army life. he said he failed his ippt cat test and his morale was very low. haha this reminded me of my bmt days. imagine my 1st SBJ in tekong was a mere 197cm. and i cant do 6 freaking pullups. so normal la..
but now i got a gold! i think. either that or i got a high silver. all depends on my 2.4 timing. cause if i dont remember wrongly it's within a 9:45 on my watch but then again anything may happen in camp. if i dont get a gold i will be very sad and i think im going to cheong for gold again in the next ippt. lol. now that gold is within reach for me, my next target will be to clear and pass my SOC. aka to overcome my low rope and finish the course within 10min 30sec. otherwise it would be very tough for me in the future.
hah i sound so motivated. lol
the highlight of the week was the navigation test. the practical was actually held in lim chu kang cemetry! omg.. when we reached there it was rows and rows of tombstones. somehow it gave a surreal yet frightening atmosphere. the test was so-so lah. many of us didnt know what the questions were talking about. as a result we didnt even know what to do and when time's up we just simple gave the O.O" face in front of the instructors. we were very lucky not to get pumped in front of the public in the middle of the cemetry. hah. oh we even found a few GPMG rounds in the middle of the cemetry. scary isnt it. thought they were live rounds and handed them to sgt huiwen. but luckily she confirmed that the rounds were dummy ones. but still a very fun experience.
cheongsua days kicked off at thurs and we had to do immediate assault and other drills like arty drills and ambush drills. we were allowed to exchange our weapons but somehow or another i was carrying SAW and LAW most of the time. freaking hell. LAW is the heaviest of the organic weapons and apart from carrying LAW i had to sling an M16S1 on my neck. SAW isnt that heavy but its weight is not even, which made my neck sng even more. and the LAW was always out of the way when i had to cheong and shoot. bloody hell.
and something worthy of note: the weapons suck. BIG TIME. when we were supposed to shoot the blanks many of us had IA just after shooting 1 round. OMG and for my SAW i was supposed to shoot it like no one's business (aka like rambo). but then i keep getting IA for each round that flew off. freaking hell. most of the time was spent clearing the IA instead of shooting and over-running the enemy. our guns were in such poor conditions until our section instructor got so pissed he decided to report our low quality guns to our PC.
this started me thinking. can the infantry be able to defend singapore after all? let's say, if singapore had to engage a war with other countries and as infantry we had to cheong and shoot the enemies, what would exactly result given our guns' CMI condition? i think the enemies will relac one corner and look at us clearing our IA instead of executing all the immediate action drills and siaming from our rounds. after that they will just die - laugh until they die. zzZ
pardon me for my brainless thoughts. i was getting too bored after all.
booking in tmr. have 2 navi exercises at lower mandai. and looking at the weather recently.. it isnt very good i guess. cant imagine what would happen to navigate the rain. it would not just be
"with my rifle and my buddy and me~" but
"with my rifle and my gore-tex and my buddy and me~". lol

oh man.. it's only 4 days but these 4 days are so gonna be long mans. like mini field camp liddat. nvm there's good friday to look forward to. TGIF! thank god it's
friday good friday! (:
i just watched campus superstar (YES DONT LAUGH AT ME CAUSE I HAVE NO TIME LAHHH..) and i really have to admit that cheeyang deserved the winner. his duet with xinhui was fantastic and his version of 一首简单的歌 was.. ahhh nothing to say. my good junior. but teresa's not bad too! i think her smile's very nice though some of my platoon mates claim that her mouth is very big. i shall not comment abt this lah... no one's born perfect anyway.
yups nothing much le. my bro wants to use the computer (and that's kinda making me pissed cause he keeps pressing me to move my butt off the chair when i rarely have time to use the computer in the 1st place. bahhh)
oh ya. i find 曹操 by JJ a song worth listening :)

"far far away in the south china sea ah
i left...
a girl...
with tears in her eyes ah
i have to go where the brave men fight...
the soldier has to fight the front because he loves his land.
the solider has to die because he has to fight.
'cause we are the ones who hold the guns,
'cause we are the ones who fight the front,
'cause we are mighty warriors of our land yeah!
mighty warriors marching in hurrah! hurrah!
mighty warriors marching in hurrah! hurrah!
'cause we are the ones who hold the guns,
'cause we are the ones who fight the front,
'cause we are mighty warriors of our land yeah!"
too sick to write a proper entry. so i'll just leave you guys with this song. lol.. dunno why but i like it very much.. quite morale-boosting to me imh..

im in camp now using the computer inside the medical centre. aka im reporting sick. AGAIN. so sian lah.. have been coughing non-stop for the whole week ever since i booked in, which wasnt very good. and furthermore i caught a cold. my body condition was very bad ytd during range; i felt very giddy and i nearly vomitted halfway while shooting SAR 21. i had no choice but to fall out. sianz..
the nights out on wed wasnt too bad. at least we got to chill out at jurong pt. but then again there wasnt really enough time.. we were only given 2+ hrs to do what we wanted. in the end some of us went to makan at macs and then went havocing in the arcade playing stupid games like bishi bashi and parapara, etc. haha sounds stupid but these games were enough to entertain the army boys (and girls). lol..
SAR 21 wasnt as good as the instructors said they would be. in fact many of the rifles (according to my plt mates) were quite lousy.. cannot depend on the scope one. haha...
shall stop here. may continue when i book out tmr :)

"清明时节雨纷纷
路上行人遇断魂
借问酒家何处有
牧童摇指杏花春"
yup it's qingming again.
nah i wont be blogging on how i offered prayings to my late uncle and paternal grandma. but there was one incident that irked me very much. it happened at this corner of the temple where me and my cousins went to rest (and escape from the smoky environment). we were having a heart-to-heart conversation until suddenly both my cousins jumped and went behind me. my elder cousin pointed her finger towards the ground and there i saw a toad around the area.
"well just a toad," i thought. after all, i have seen more horrifying stuffs back in NS.
then i saw a bunch of kids crowding around the toad and they seemed pretty fascinated by it. the next moment, the toad started to hop around the area and the kids screamed (in horror i guess?).. and one of them suddenly picked up a pointed branch on the floor and went to poke and hit the toad furiously. of course, the toad tried to escape from the boy's clutches but the boy just didnt give up.
enough was enough i thought. so i stepped out and told the boy to stop abusing the toad (with a fierce look of course). after that the boy stopped "bullying" the toad and the crowd left.
there are a few issues pertaining to this incident. firstly, i was quite disturbed on why the boy had to whack the frog when the frog did not cause any trouble to him. come on.. it's living on it's own world and you are living on your own. why do u have to do this to it? at least give it some respect right?
secondly, when i asked the boy on his cruelty towards the frog, he gave a swift reply.
"i was scared, so i hit it."
what's the meaning of this? omg.. what happened to the classic "人之初,性本善" phrase? it seems to be "人之初,性本恶" instead.
the above-mentioned 2 points werent so bad as compared to the next one. what happened to all the adults that were around? they either stopped and looked at all the hoohaa without having any reaction to it, or they looked and left, leaving to a teenager to give those kids a lesson. this is what that pissed me off totally.. this is what you call social apathy man.
-shakes head-
booking in in 2.5 hrs time... next week is so gonna be long man. live firing followed by navigation package. luckily my LPS post will be handed over to somebody else. otherwise things wont look good next week -gulps-
