Finally, my turn to take the train...

Interior of the train, this train was made in Switzerland

Finally, arrived at the top of Penang hill, roughly around 7xx metres above sea level, here is the view of Georgetown from the hill

The view around the hill, on the left are the stalls and food court, on the peak, are religious sites and on the right (which you can't see), stands a police station

Not far from here, there is one old car on display, that is the first generation of Penang hill railway car, used until being replaced by the current model in 1970's...there is another one on display in Penang museum...

Trip to Penang (Part 1) 7/6/2009

This is one of the most awaited trip for me, since this trip is my first visit to Penang after two years (this trip is the second of my life to Penang)...

Anyway, here's what happened on that day...

I came to KL Sentral at around 7 am....then waited for the train that will bring me to Butterworth...

The train departed from KL Sentral at 9.30 am and was expected to arrive at Butterworth at 5.10 pm...

The train actually arrived at Butterworth at 4.50 pm, that means...20 minutes earlier than scheduled!

Here is the Butterworth railway station, er....the platform is ramshackled of course...

From there, i made my way to the ferry terminal, to board a ferry to Georgetown

This is the passageway from the railway station to the ferry terminal (the bus terminal is also located here!)

Here, this is the entrance to the ferry terminal, it costed me RM 1.20 to use the ferry service

This is the waiting hall for passengers

Then, i board the ferry...these are the views from the ferry, the first one, the view of Georgetown from the ferry was awesome and breathtaking!

The next one, ferry and the Penang bridge

The interior of the ferry

After i arrived at Georgetown, i took a taxi straight to Tune Hotel...ah, by the way, Penang's taxi do not use meter, so be prepared, haha...

I checked in, then i went for a short walk to Komtar to board a bus to Gurney

Heading to the Komtar bus terminal, on the left side, that is the Prangin Mall...

This is the Komtar bus terminal

This is the ticket of Rapid Penang (unlike Rapid KL, if you board Rapid Penang, you have to pay each time you board the bus)

The interior of the bus, it is a minibus, not a fullsized bus

Then, i stopped somewhere in Jalan Kelawei and walked to Gurney drive...

This is Gurney Plaza, one of the main shopping centres in Penang

The new wing of Gurney Plaza, it was opened recently

After being inside Gurney Plaza, i went to nearby hawker stalls not far from Gurney Plaza...

Ah, that's the end of the first trip of my trip...

Later, i will post more photos of my trip, so stay tuned!
