Neighbourhood run!
Started training for my 10k run in Melb marathon only last wk! only 2-3 wks away! Was reluctant to head out to run as the weather has been so cold and windy. Hence, I've been running on the treadmill which I realised I couldn't bear running on it for any longer than 5k. It was basically jogging on the spot and looking at either myself in the mirror or the empty gym weights behind. No MP3 to accompany me too. So I ended up planning an 8k neighourhood route! Almost ended up running a longer route. took the wrong turn after passing the outskirts of the cemetery but managed to figure my way back onto the route again after :P
Felt like I'm seeing my neighbourhood for the first time in a different way. And exploring places and corners which I have never been to, as well as passing by 2 hospitals which I did placements in previously. It was so much more fun than treadmill! However, it was really windy and cold. My arms were so cold during the run and the inside of my ears hurt slightly after that. But the good thing is I didn't sweat much, had nice scenery along the way and the breezy wind which made the run felt really exhilarating :) Saw several others, young and old who were running on the pathways too, or walking with their adorable dogs, or training for their sports in the parks. Gives me the impression that everyone are so active :P
Thinking back, I wonder how it all started and how all of us ended up joining it, despite it being in the wk before our swot vac. I came across it accidentally some time in Jul and brought it up to Jane during our Paeds placement. And Bek was in fact thinking abt it too! So we ended signing up for it :) Decided to go for 10k as we wouldn't have time to train up for further distances :P They actually suggested to wear our clinical top to run..which will be so hot!
Counting down... to the run as well as to the end of my placements and finally exams followed by... my grad trip to US! :)
Sweltering heat!
Today is likely to be among the hottest on record in Victoria, and the effects of the heatwave are adding up across the state.
THE weather bureau tells Lou Bennett it's 44 degrees. But he trusts better his own thermometer, rigged up on the back verandah. It says 52.
It doesn't really matter anyway, whatever the number, the sun feels oppressively, infernally hot, and he'll be out in it.
Warnings from the Premier about today's heatwave being "the worst day in the state's history" don't carry much weight with growers around Red Cliffs, near Mildura in Victoria's north-west corner. There's been plenty of tough ones already.
"Out on the farm it's pretty hot, but whatever it is we're out there in it," Mr Bennett said.
"Sometimes you're lucky and you're in the air-conditioned tractor, but most of the time you're on the shovel or the motorbike."
Straitened times have forced Mr Bennett to let his farmhands go. "Now I've got my kids coming out in 40-degree heat after school to help."
By Mr Bennett's count, today will be the 12th straight over 40 degrees at his place. It has sapped the life from his plants. He lost two complete hectares in one scorching morning, as well as about 30 per cent of his crop overall.
"It's not just me, it's everybody. It's my neighbours, my friends. Your family suffers."
Farmers across Victoria are suffering similarly. Growers in the Goulburn Valley are writing off crops of pears, apricots and apples ruined by sunburn.
In shearing sheds across the state, sheep have been passing out, overcome by the heat and the heavy fleece they're carrying (a good rouseabout carries a bottle of water in hot weather to revive them).
Today is set to be the worst of the lot. Across the state, blistering temperatures are predicted, up to 46 degrees in the Mallee, while Melbourne will reach 44.
Northerly winds, gusting up to gale force at 100 km/h, will run across the state, with the potential to fan bushfires across tracts of tinder-dry land.
All sorts of records are being broken. Twelve straight days over 40 in the Mallee smashes the previous state record of nine days. By tonight, Melbourne will have gone 34 days without rain, the third worst dry spell on record.
The heat has also pushed the state's morgue to its capacity. The Victorian coroner took in 50 bodies a day during last week's heatwave — more than three times the average rate.
State coroner Jennifer Coate said yesterday that her office had to arrange for hospitals and funeral directors to store the bodies of people whose deaths required further investigation.
Imposing a statewide total fire ban for today, the CFA said the whole state was at extreme risk. Premier John Brumby warned that conditions were comparable to 1983's deadly Ash Wednesday.
"It's just as bad a day as you can imagine and on top of that the state is just tinder-dry," he said. "People need to exercise real common sense … If you don't need to go out, don't go out, it's a seriously bad day.
"If you don't need to travel, don't travel. Don't go on the roads. If you don't need to use the public transport system, don't use it. If you can stay at home, stay at home."
V/Line has told people not to travel to Gippsland unless they have to, warning that the Bunyip bushfire would likely disturb coach and train travel.
The Premier urged people to look after the elderly, infirm and vulnerable.
"Ring them … it's going to be a terrible day for anyone who is ill or who is old," he said.
Yesterday, the Federal Government issued a directive to nursing homes, requiring them to monitor 170,000 residents across the country. Nursing homes in Victoria and South Australia face spot checks and audits of their air-conditioning systems, following complaints.
Water Minister Tim Holding excused Victorians from their water saving for a day, saying people needed, above all else, to keep cool.
Water consumption peaked at 283 litres per person in Melbourne last Friday, when the temperature hit 45. The average for this summer has been 172 litres per person per day.
Power outages, which wreaked havoc across the state last week, are again a real possibility, with power companies urging people to prepare to do without electricity.
The peak of the extreme heat is likely to push the state's power capabilities to their limit, while the afternoon change could bring winds that will bring down trees across power lines.
Victoria is preparing for the worst. Sport is being cancelled.
Two and four-legged competitors are heading for the shade. Cricket matches are being moved or called off, while the Classic Dog Show, which was to feature 1200 of Victoria's most pampered and prize-adorned pups, has been cancelled.
Racing at Caulfield, including the Group 1 Orr Stakes, has been put back to Sunday. The only horses racing today will be at the non-TAB picnic meeting at Buchan in East Gippsland.
But punters with an itch to unload can still have a wager.
Online bookmakers are laying bets on just how hot it will be in Melbourne today.
However, no one's betting against Lou Bennett summoning the courage to brave the heat, regardless of what the mercury tells him.
"You can't stay inside, mate, you've got to get outside and get it done, because no one else is going to do it for you," he says.
....................................................
It is 45 degrees now! High temperatures and hot winds! My apartment is on the 7th floor but ventilation doesn't seem to flow at all. Hot air rises. My room seems to be always hotter than the lower floors, but one good thing is that at least it will be warmer during winter. But now that is definitely not desirable. Even the air blowing out from my fan is hot! I can't bear to step out of my house and am craving for a shower now. =S
Start of Sem!

Lalang @ 金瓜石 in Taipei state! basically the whole mountain and surrounding mountains seem to be filled with lalang everywhere... pretty!

Can't concentrate on reading notes and was distracted by my laptop... so here i am! =P
Decided to pay here a visit after the long long long stagnancy. Lost track of where I've stopped blogging at and with the hustle and bustle all these while, which is why no wonder this virtual space of mine is so dead. haha. I'm back in Melb last week already. had a whole day's seminar on ICU yesterday and today is the start of my Cardio clinical block 2 at RMH and with that marks the start of the whole yr's continuous clinics. I'll be running the surgical & HDU/ICU wards this week *fingers crossed for a fruitful & smooth sailing week* Hopefully i'll have understanding and experienced supervisors which i guess i'll soon know if they are. Although i've heard some stories about them already but afterall, those stories might not be accurate right? K, have to mentally tell myself that i shouldn't make any assumptions but to keep an open mind.
Happy Niu Year!
Here's wishing eveyone a
HAPPY NIU YEAR !!! :)
Here's a tale for the new year (from a forwarded email):
Got Two Cows
TRADITIONAL CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You sell one and buy a bull.
Your herd multiplies and the economy grows.
You sell them and retire on the income.
AN AMERICAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You sell one and force the other to produce the milk of four cows.
You are surprised when the cow drops dead.
A FRENCH CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You go on strike because you want three cows.
A JAPANESE CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk.
You then create clever cow cartoon images called 'Cowkimon' and market them World-Wide.
A GERMAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You re-engineer them so they live for 100 years, eat once a month, and milk themselves.
A BRITISH CORPORATION
You have two cows.
Both are mad.
AN ITALIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows, but you don't know where they are.
You break for lunch..
A SWISS CORPORATION
You have 5,000 cows and none of which belong to you.
You charge others for storing them.
A CHINESE CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You have 300 people milking them..
You claim full employment and high bovine productivity.
You have the newsman who reported on the numbers arrested.
AN INDIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You worship them.
A MALAYSIAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
You signed a 40-year contract to supply milk at RM0.06 per litre.
Then midway through, you raised the price to RM0.60 or you cut the supply.
When the buyer agrees to the new price, you change your mind again and now want RM1.20.
The buyer decided you can keep the milk and they go look for milk that comes from recycled cows or the cow urine instead.
Your two cows retire together with the Prime Minister.
And last but not least,
A SINGAPOREAN CORPORATION
You have two cows.
One cow-peh and one cow-bu.

View from my room window during late summer this yr. No skyscrappers in sight. The windows in my apt overlook the surburbs while the other side of my apt building faces the uni and the city. It's a totally different view with congested tall buildings and busy traffic which can only be viewed from the corridor windows... :) Oh and did I mention on the left hand side, it overlooks the cemetery as well. haha yup a rather big one but it's not directly in front of my windows, more off to the side. At night, it's totally dark, simply hidden and not visible. Not that scary afterall :P

A tree with budding leaves at the front entrance during early spring last year.
Such a rainy, cold, dark and cloudy day. No sight of the sun at all! Have to postpone the market trip because of the rain. need to return my overdue library books but it's just so inconvenient to step out of the house because of the rain! and of course I would say reluctance to embrace the chilling wind, cold and rain as well :p Just some random ramblings and random pics of my nest down under... :)

Stepping into once again
Finally landed on sat in the afternoon! landing during daytime feels really diff as compared to landing at night. When I arrived last time at night, instantaneously felt the humid heat the moment i stepped out of the airport. This time round, in the day think it was worse, but actually prefer arriving in the day coz felt like i still have the other half of the day left and had a much better view of spore's roadside scenery :) Watched movies almost non stop from Stardust to No Reservations to High Sch Musical 2 to Hairspray. really surprised that i manage to stay awake throughout although slept only ~3 hrs the previous night.
Sun: slept for 12hrs! Made my way down to City hall in the late afternoon. The moment I stepped out of the house, it started to pour. felt like I’ve not used my ezlink card for a long long time! No longer hearing the tram sounds and bells but once again the familiar train announcement in the 4 diff lang! haha. reached Suntec City and felt as though its interior is now brighter and whiter instead which I guess might be due to the x’mas deco :) Oh and realize that there’s Food Republic there now with its antique and unique furnishings! Definitely has the ancient scholar atmosphere! :p finally collected my race pack and was then led to the sports and fitness expo. Wandered around for a whilst the climbing championship was ongoing. Seems like a lot of private businesses were promoting their own products and services, from lasik, chiropractice to sports med and etc. On the way back, think I vaguely saw the big ferris wheel in the distance!! received a lot of advertisements along with a x’mas candy from the santa claus lady. looks like x’mas is really drawing near!
My next destination: AMK Hub! It’s finally up and finished after seeing it being constructed ever since sec sch. What a long project! but am regretful that it’s not accomplished during my sec sch times! if not it’ll be such a nice hangout place. And I actually couldn’t find Fitness first for quite some time! just have the impression that it’ll situated on the highest floor but who knows it’s underground instead in the hub haha. manage to complete 7km just before closing time. can’t believe that I can actually did stationary running on the treadmill for that amount of time. definitely don’t feel that I’ve done 7km because I was still on the same spot! Guess the plus point is that the exact speed and distance are known and there was some entertainment. enriched myself with some current affairs whilst watching news report simultaneously from the tv :p
Mon: woke up at 7am and reported for my attachment at KKH. followed a physio who did masters in aus. seen for myself how kids and babies are handled somewhat differently from adults :) although I was left alone for 3.5 hrs with a 2hrs lunch break as he’d to go off to settle some stuff. Made my way to novena square and ate long john!! Did their fries shrink and become thinner? crispy nonetheless :p saw a skating performance on the centre stage by a male and a female. The female is actually rather hot I think looks like a mixed and has nice long legs! Hahah. Then sat in the waiting area in the dept for 1.5hrs and read the 50 enterprise awards special issue to lianhe zaobao to nuyou fashion mag. Except for the 2 practical sessions with babies and kids of diff age groups crawling and playing around in the room, don’t think I’ve ever had any experience or attachment with the paediatric and women’s dept before. The babies are soooo cute! envy their big round eyes! how I wish I’d those eyes when I was young :p most of them have torticollis or varus feet. Cries are occasionally heard but luckily they soon settle down after some coaxing. The only adult patient I saw today was a women with chronic upper back pain. There was this 6 yo kid, scrawny and small sized but with really big nice seemingly innocent eyes who came in with an overly tilted head and a neck collar. He looked so in pain and his incident of trauma was not what I’d expected. His mum was pulling him up by his arm in an attempt to wake him up but he was so reluctant and sleepy that his head just plopped down and “bang”! A previously hyperactive boy has become now such a protective boy so afraid of pain. His parents looked so worried for him. If only there was an earlier intervention instead of coming in after 11 days, he might not have such severe guarding behaviour. But glad he’s got no structural deformity so recovery is still hopeful :)
----------------------------------------------
i want to update my music library! FIR, fish leong, jay, luo zhi xiang..........and all the many more new albums which i saw in the shops!
I just did a mass production! phew! prepared 9 meals at one shot and that should last me through for the rest of the week together with my chicken burgers or sandwiches. haha but hsemate surpassed me by 1 meal..cooked 10 meals at one shot 2 days ago and now she's "camping" in the library after discovering the brochure in our mailbox today stating that there's gonna be a free shuttle bus back from the lib to our apt at 3am! I was really surprised at this intiative of CS. they didn't have it last time! maybe they're trying to compensate for the slow internet connection that they provide us with but seriously, i would still want a better internet connection that the free bus. haha but at least it's better than nothing. i should really make full use of the lib and the free bus but will have to drag soooo many books and stuff with me that i bet it'll be counterproductive in the end.
On a side note, i'm really missing home :S this whole yr has passed so fast! it felt so surreal to be finishing yr 2 so soon with just exams left! Although it felt like i've only been back or boarded the plane yesterday only but somehow i still feel like i've kinda lost touch with what's happening back in the sunny island and wondering how everyone is doing as well and whatever interesting news there is in the newspapers or media. I should really go check out straits times online but i've lost the password a long time ago :p btw i discovered that they do have the white hokkien mee here! yesterday jeanette help me buy wanton mee then she bought hokkien mee for herself and yes it's the white kind! didn't know that chom chom do sell the spore kind of cooking style! i've been seeing the black kind everywhere but not the white one. k that shall be the 1st that i'm going to eat which i can get it for just 3 bucks somemore :p
"In the arms of an Angel fly away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of an Angel
may you find some comfort here "
angel pls fly me back home then and i won't have to sit through exams also! hmm as if that's going to happen heez guess I'm just trying to deceive myself. It's just 10 mins to 8pm and the sky's still so bright! It felt so weird to turn my clock forward by an hr 2 days ago because of daylight saving .. from 3am to 4am. an hr just vanished before my eyes without me doing anything within that hr! but in fact, i didn't lose that hr coz i gained an extra hr at the beginning of the yr. nonetheless, the realisation still dawned upon me: time just doesn't wait for you.
Bloke
I'm a Bloke
by Chris FranklinI hate the new age guys
I'm a chauvinist
I live on beer and pies
Tried to tell you,
But you look at me,
like maybe I'm an angel underneath
Haven't brushed me teeth.
Yesterday I lied
But all me mates gave me a real good alibi
Thanks guys
I really went out drinking,
I told you I was at work
Don't ask me for commitment,
'Cause it's something I will shirk
I'm a bloke,
I'm an ocker
And I really love your knockers
I'm a labourer by day,
I piss up all me pay
Watching footy on TV
Just feed me more VB
Just pour my beer,
And get my smokes,
And go away
Or take me as I am
This may mean you'll have to fetch another can
Rest assured,
That if I start to make you breakfast
I'm going to extremes
but tomorrow I'll get shitfaced,
and today won't mean a thing
I'm a bloke
I'm a yobbo,
and me best mate's name is Robbo
Winfield is me cigarrete
I dress in flanellette
Shearer's singlet that is blue
Throw in a few tattoos,
You know you wouldn't
Want me any other way
When you think
You've got me figured out
The season's already changing
I think it's cool
When I act like a tool
And my mates try to shave me
I'm a bloke,
I'm an ocker
And I really love your knockers
I'm a labourer by day,
I piss up all me pay
Watching footy on TV
Just feed me more VB
Just pour my beer,
And get my smokes,
And go away
I'm a bloke,
I'm a yobbo,
and me best mate's name is Robbo
Winfield is me cigarrete
I dress in flanellette
Shearer's singlet that is blue
Throw in a few tattoos,
You know you wouldn't

heard this song in the bus during the camping trip and everyone was laughing like crazy cozthe lyrics are so funny and so aussie! :P its tune is definitely not the soulful or melodious type but so melancholic and monotonous that together with the lyrics, the whole song sounds really amusing! sighz i can't seem to focus now so went to search for its lyrics to try to entertain myself. started downloading the song 4 days ago and it has only progressed 20% till now!! hmmm shall switch on my engine mode full blast now and hope that it can sustain me for a few more hours :}
Pardon me for it's gonna be all rambling here..in an attempt to outsource >.< This is sooooooooooo sucky...!!!!! Can't believe my luck!! 6 papers in 7 days!!! And that I can be so lucky to have been allocated the mon prac exam day! When it's like almost everyone will get tested after the tue's paper and some even till the next wk !! Why can't they allocate the days more evenly and fairly to end of the week or even next week?? Had this examiner last sem who wasn't even our level prac tutor and he disagreed with the methods that I used which was what I was taught and bet he'd penalised me heavily. Now I've got such a "terrific" day. Plus this freaking assign to write now which is so vague and due next wk. it's really irritating when they give assign during this period of time when the sem's ending in just 1 more wk!?! This is really frustrating! feeling horrible now.. Sigh. Hopefully this time round I'll get a better examiner though and that I can survive through all this. Not just survive but hopefully surviving to be the fittest =.=
Spray Paint Art
Saw this street artiste performing spray paint art along Collins st ~2/3 wks ago & it had definitely fascinated me. The artwork is sooo pretty! Can't believe that such intricate painting can be done with spray paint!! Usually, people will associate spray paint with all those graffiti done on the walls in the streets. There's many graffiti done on all those public property in the city as well as in suburbs. But I never knew that it can be used to do painting on a blank piece of canvas! Overheard this woman asking the friend of the spray paint artiste why they decide to do it on the streets. He replied that instead of doing it in their studio, they wanted to show the public how they go about doing it and to promote their art to more people. If they were to simply display their painting in some art studio or gallery, bet no one would have believed that it's painted out of spray paint and all the hard work behind in creating them. In a way, it's a rather dangerous form of art too, imagine the nasty smell of spray paint the artist has to endure and the harmful substances inhaled which I believe are to a large extent carcinogenic. Although he had this inhaler mask for protection, think he's putting his health at risk still. But really admire his passion, talent and courage to be doing such a public demostration of what he believes in :)*applause*

A guy among the audience had bought their artwork as shown above instantaneously which I think was done previously in their studio.

some of his painting equipment: strips of paper and cans and rings to create the layering effect and various shapes

an almost done piece of work; love the way how he used just some delicate strokes and techniques to create the flowing water effect and those reflection on the waters!

fire was used to dry the paint!

someone had reserved it long before the paintwork was finished
Yay! finally my internet quota is renewed again!! Realised that our quota was left with just 30MB when we came back from camping. Once we logged in, it was just gone in a flash. Hopefully our quota can sustain us till the last day this time round haha. Have been wanting to catch "The Secret" movie using online streaming though! Looks like may have to find another opportunity again.
Monday blues. I don't want to start school yet! Can't believe my hols are gone so fast. Gosh completely no work accomplished at all =.= It's a packed yet fun-filled hols with gains :) BUT losses as well :S I'm reminded of my painful loss again. Ouch..... My "narcissistic" camera is gone now and there's a tram fine notice to bpay for :( The cam that has accompanied me to aus and travelled with me and captured my many many memories. Full of sentimental values defnitely. Although I've to admit that besides the fact that it can be turned to allow a nice take of self-portrait, its other functions are not very desirable. Somehow the colour and contrast of the photos are rather soft and blurred. This empty feeling kept lingering inside me whenever going from one attraction to another without it in my hands. Ahhhhh.
Sigh feeling so tired now. Shall make a move to cuddle under my warm quilt Zzzz...
Spring Fashion Week
It was the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week last last wk! Only managed to get the standing tickets for thur's parade titled "The Looking Glass". Regretted not buying tickets earlier for the friday's show "Object of Desire" (haha it even sounds more irresistible also) or get the reserved seating which costs just 3 bucks more! We were so afraid that we'll be blocked by all those tall caucasians and wouldn't be able to get a clear view of the stage. However, much to our relief, the standing room space available was only for a row of people :) Although we'd to stand throughout, think we still made the right choice in getting the standing tickets over the balcony ones which were much further away from the stage.

On wed, I went down to Myers and indeed caught a glimpse of Jennifer Hawkins during the public fashion show! Btw she is '04 Miss Universe from Aus. She looked simply gorgeous and definitely more alluring in person. When I arrived, I was trying to pinpoint which of the models was her but couldn't seem to recognise any and was starting to doubt if I've actually missed her. Haha it turned out that even if u've never seen her picture before, u'll know immediately who the star of the show was. At the end, she appeared alone and was the only model to be walking somewhat in her own casual style, smiling brightly and waving at the audience. The rest of the models looked so alike and were simply expressionless as compared to her. I guess it's not the models' fault anyway since they aren't allowed to smile in the first place. So it does look like only when one has become a celebrity model, only then can she smile and attract attention more to herself rather than the clothes she's wearing? haha. Caught the last 15 min of the show only and was standing on top of this metal bench, if not bet I can't see a single thing at all :p Steph arrived early and she was right in front! Met her for lunch in Melb Central and then saw another public show there as well :)

photos of her at the show adapted from theage.com.au
In comparison to those public shows, the parade on thur was much more professional and fanciful. The models were adorned with so many different accessories, be it the shiny bags, belts, hats and those super-ultra tall high-heel shoes while some were a combination of platform and high heels! Gosh I wonder how they maintain their balance so well somemore with so many pairs of eyes looking at them. Pity their spines which have to maintain such high mechanical stress throughout. There's a model who tripped slightly over the stairs and it was so obvious! Oops haha can tell that she was really embarrassed about it but she regained her composure and expressionless face immediately after. Here's some of the clearer snapshots taken of the models:

haha managed to capture this model who was smiling subtlely at the camera when posing..& i think she's the only one who actually did smile
there's this designer who had the models wearing sleeveless singlet inside the evening gown dresses and along with converse shoes??! A very weird combination indeed but felt that it'd made the dresses seem less appealing. Looks like the designer was trying to portray a casual image of his dresses.
outside the entrance to town hall
Make-up stations were set-up outside the entrance where they were doing some simple make-up and hair styling on the models. Not sure if that's where the real dressing room was might be more of a promo tactic?
the publicity image used for the fashion wk.. what a flawless porcelain face. haha bet there's some photoshop work done on it as well.

We head on to the free entry after party with our ticket which was held at The Calrton Hotel on that night.
"If you haven't experienced the eclectic world of The Carlton, here's you special invitation. Imagine designer cocktails around the decadent bar, plush velvet booths, outdoor courtyard with DJ Damo and DJ Eddy Mac on the decks."
The interior design rather's unique and there's some statues and animal figurines around. Wonder what theme they were trying to protray..maybe tropical? :p No chance to try the velvet booths. all occupied. a small outdoor courtyard with this fake coconut tree which was actually the smoking area. arghz hate the smoky smell. Luckily the bar inside was smoke free! Heard that the smoke free law was imposed on all bars and clubs recently.

The fashion wk cocktail special at half price. A glass costs just $5! It tastes quite nice haha but not sure what it's made up of. A kind of champagne with some peach pulp in it.

While on the way home, noticed for my first time that people were indeed playing with the big big chess set on the streets! Always thought that they were non-movable statues!
Instead of going to queen vic for pancakes and socialising, here I am instead at home in an attempt to catch up on my work but ended up logging in to here instead. Woke up in the morning with this horrible dry throat feeling and a throbbing head. The dry throat feeling had been there ever since friday, wondering if it's from the whole night of karaoke, or tons and tons of schoolwork or got it from my housemate. Hopefully the virus don't manifest into cough or me losing my voice which is why I'm drinking this bottled Doni Choice Herbal Tea now (costing merely 75 cents which makes one question about its effectiveness haha hmm maybe at least some placebo effect?)
Everyone is in the holiday festive mood already and looks like it's hard for me not to catch on it as well, moreover with my housemates starting to go shopping, watching movies, chilling out =.= My holidays only start a wk later; a 1 wk hols for me, basically for the physios and meds while it's 2 wks for the rest :S Well, at least I've got my 1st friday off this wk! That feels so great! Can't believe it for myself that I'm gonna have a 3 day wkend. A Korean dinner and a whole night of karaoke was in a way kind of friday-off or pre-holiday celebration I guess :P The wkend is now gone again when it's already sunday today >.< After my test on wed, I went on a cleaning spree! My neurons were basically overly electrified by all the electrotherapy stuff that they need to outsource. Laundry. Kitchen. Fridge. Toilet. Room. At least after that, felt that part of my life was in some order again. However, I didn't manage to vacuum..need to get the vacuum cleaner from sook and it kept slipping my mind. Last year, I only had my room to take care of and of course my laundry & misc with some occasional kitchen duties but now it had expanded to a full apartment which definitely has more to be done..
After cleaning the fridge, realised how empty it was and how low we're running on our food stores. Having missed going mkt for the previous week with all our tests coming up, we finally had it replenished after the trip to queen vic yesterday. It seemed like some of the fruits were in season again this time round possibly due to the change in season?
Those small rock melons were each going for 50 cents, not-yet-ripe bananas for $2 per kg, whole tray of kiwi fruits for 2 bucks....... I got a shock when I saw strawberries going for $1 per box and then as I went on, it became 50 cents per box. We saw this tray going for 5 small boxes for $1!! Believing that it couldn't have gone down any further, we just grabbed it. Then when it was nearer to the closing time, 15 boxes in that whole box tray were going for 1 or 2 bucks!!! Should have waited! Those strawberries looked so much nicer and ripe somemore. Looks like they were indeed depserate to clear their stocks! Haha which is why we always go on sat because that's the day when all the stalls will try to clear their stock for fresh goods to come in on sun. The minus point is that it's always so crowded on sat that it's so hard to push through the crowd along with the trolley and the shouts can be quite deafening at times.
Yesterday night was hc MAF!!! Missing it this year again :S Wondering how maf is like now with the merging and etc. But I guess no matter what the whole experience of seeing everyone again and looking at all the songs and performances eventually still bring back the nostalgia and memories :) Saw the ice cream mooncakes in chinatown yesterday. They looked so tempting! Yet so freaking expensive! In the end, to satisfy my pre-dinner growling stomach, I settled for an egg tart and red bean swirl bun instead :p
