Week 8: P52 Sweet Shot Tuesday

I don't know how it happened but, about 4 years ago,  I went from hating country music to really enjoying it. Of course, the country music of  today is nothing like the country music my parents might have listened to (they never did) or even the music of the the previous decade. Sure, there are still the old timers hanging on, ie: George Strait, Reba McEntire, Dwight Yoakam, and I guess there are die hard country fans who still listen to them, but I'm a new country convert. I'm not a fan of twang which means that even though I like some of Sugarland's songs, she can get on my last nerve with others. A lot of the guys sound the same so I'm kind of picky about who I listen to. Give me Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Eli Young Band, Kenny Chesney, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean or Chris Young any day.

So turn it on, turn it up and sing along. This is real, this is your life in a song. Yeah this is country music. ~ Brad Paisley

Week 6: P52 Sweet Shot Tuesday

This sign originally sat atop the Pepsi Co.bottling plant in Hunters Point, Queens, NY from 1936 until it closed in 1999. The sign was dismantled when the building was demolished and, thanks to the Landmarks Preservation Commission, was re-erected in 2009.

Week 5: P52 Sweet Shot Tuesday

" I believe when life gives you lemons, you should make lemonade...and try to find someone whose life has given them vodka, and have a party."
~ Ron White

It was one of those weekends. Way cold outside, the little bit of snow that fell Friday night was melting  and there was nothing special around to photograph. I searched around the web to find some inspiration and found a simple tutorial on I Heart Faces. It can be found HERE.  I ran out to the local grocery store and grabbed some fruit, a bottle of sparkling water and some skewers.  The sun was shining so I pulled up the blinds and let the light in. The photo above is my favorite out of the 50 I took. Lemons are so photogenic, don't ya think?

Week 4: P52 Sweet Shot Tuesday

The new Garmin GPS took me home to Brooklyn through the Lincoln Tunnel and NYC instead of Staten Island. I'm not a fan of driving through the city, ever. There are tourists who don't drive well and yellow cab drivers who don't drive well. It's very stressful driving. The one thing I didn't mind about this trip was getting to pass by the Freedom Tower. ( I refuse to call it by its new name, One World Trade Center) I've watched this building go up slowly over the past several years. It really is beautiful and I can't wait to see it finished.

I took this photo while stopped at a light on the West Side Hwy.
She's come along way since this photo was taken December 2010
