yay.
updating after a month...again. zzz
dont know why but i always feel very reluctant to update. maybe because it uses up too much brain power to recall so many events in detail and in order?
ah anyway, hopefully i'll be able to sustain this blog going regularly for the next few months. definitely wont be updating every 2/3 days like before, perhaps once a week...but maybe a long one, just so that i can say everything i want to say in one sitting/post.
on to the main story
last week was rjc (or rijc?) orientation! theme was O'tiero. means unity/unite. simple enough.
yea it was very well organised/executed and all. definitely had fun.
MR06! yay
but our OG name is like...o([]_[])o
i mean seriously...
"o bracket square underscore square bracket o" is the name, if you want to pronounce it in english or something. i know its like =.=", but its cool!
then for our OGLs we had ada, quan wei and minzhe! whoo, all very friendly and nice people =)
of course, not forgetting my OG!
lets try churning out all the names without referring to any namelist =)
hmm. 9 guys 11 girls:
me, tommy, zhiwei, eugene, husaini, joel, malvine, tuck wai, andrew,
jasselyn, sharon, eden, li han, yi li, yi yang, gwen, chow yue, shanin, emelia and deborah!
yay my memory is good. lol. really la...not bragging.
although the group in general didnt really have massive/numerous close interactions with one another, i think we all like, "passively" bonded, if you get what i mean. from things like the external activity, war games etc you could sort of tell la.
oh and of course i must talk about the activites too!
icebreakers...not much to say. sadly.
station games...oh man. one that i remember most clearly was some funny contact game, forgot the name of the game though. but at some point it involved having you to use some part of your body to touch some part of the body of the person beside you. you get to choose randomly the part from a bag full of pieces of paper...
and i kena NOSE TO NOSE. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
but with a guy la. husaini to be exact >.<
could be fortunate or unfortunate...depends which way you want to look at it haha.
external activity was abit the not too special for me. i mean there's alot of walking around to random places but not really that many special activities. so i think i shall just skip it...
war games o.o
first game that my shift/group went to was terrible. at least all the guys would agree. the girls probably had fun though...
it was called what, strip me if you can? think so. anyway its basically that, clothes pegs are stuck onto the guys' shirt backs and the girls will have to go/run around in pairs trying to strip the pegs off the guys. and the guys will have to run away..duh.
it was horrible i tell you. all the guys seriously got raped (figuratively) by the girls. they could do real unfair/not by the rules stuff like GRABBING HOLD OF THE GUYS SHIRTS AND NOT LET THEM RUN AWAY. i kena like how many times so i can be sure that its true. you could get like 10+ girls surrounding you, in which case you should just stay still and say/cry GG. i mean what else can you do, push them aside like a barbarian and zao? no violence allowed ty. although seriously speaking, the violent ones in this game were the GIRLS. scratch la taupok la pull la they all did it. i got scratched at my neck there once. lucky it wasnt serious. but quan wei said for his year he got clawed in the face...ouch. i was looking down from the 2nd floor of the ISH for awhile during the game, and you could see how one sided the whole thing was. its like a guy runs into the playing area, and he immediately gets owned/pwned...hai. the game definitely needs balancing to ensure that the guys dont get girl phobia or something. lol.
another game was some police and thief kinda game. basically just run past lines of defenders and reach the end. simple game, but it was fun enough. the chopstick game wasnt so fun though, injury risk is like much more, with chaotic barrages of people into the various bases. oh well. i suppose it has to be like this. its war games after all.
the other activity that was of great significance/worth remembering is probably the batch dance teaching! youtube has it if anyone wants to see/reminiscence...just type/search ri orientation o'tiero can find liao. but i still cant get the last song right zzz. have to go look at the video a few more times sia.
and i think the OGLs' sun dance is dam imba and dam nice.
LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA.
freaking infectious...nothing to do/walking to some place during the orientation me and tommy will just randomly sing it hehe. as well as parts of our batch dance lyrics. seriously, they're that good. but sadly we werent taught. i guess i might try to become an OGL just to learn that dance =)
haha and i almost forgot about storyline. very well done/acted, dam funny too. i think the line that everyone would remember was probably leonard's "XIAO JIE!!!" (pronounced as XIIIIIAO JEI). rofl.
oh and then i also learnt alot of random games? things like the mrt game...its totally not based on logic/common sense, so if you try to reason it out like a normal, logical person, good luck figuring it out. i mean like, er...bishan? =)
our OG also had 2 OG dinners. one was at botak jones...i've personally never heard of the place before, but i think the food there was good. costly though...8 bucks for a regular serving. but their regular portion isnt exactly regular. i mean, its more like the average "large" portions that we can commonly find nowadays. no wonder i didnt manage to finish it, despite having my previous meal at like 10/11 in the morning, and eating dinner at 7pm+. but the food is good ya. so i recommend everyone to try it sometime. its behind/near the SPH building...can reach there via bus from RJC, bus 93/156/163. i can bring you there =)
in all, the orientation was GREAT. i've made a few new friends (at least for now), did/learnt some cool new stuff, so i guess i've got quite a few takeaways from it. and i shall just end off this post nicely/appropriately with our batch song!
Wasn't it just yesterday
I couldn't find the words to say
To fill the empty silence
To break the awkward moments
A little smile and laughter shared
A friendship sparked because you cared
This path we tread won't be smooth
But together we will pull through
Walking hand in hand, heart to heart
Joining voices to sing and dance
When I start this song, you'll sing along
And we can just go on and on and on
When we look back, will we remember
Each moment of this year?
The days that mark our time in here
Threaten to disappear
All that we have's the present
To cherish while we can
Seizing every chance we're blessed with
And leave with no regrets
Took a firm step in this place
Wishes, hopes, we're in a daze
The cold walls are taunting
Just where's the warmth within
Whenever you call my name
Across the corridor
The madness of chasing dreams
Doesn't matter anymore
Walking hand in hand, heart to heart
Joining voices to sing and dance
When I start this song, you'll sing along
And we can just go on and on and on
When we look back, will we remember
Each moment of this year?
The days that mark our time in here
Threaten to disappear
All that we have's the present
To cherish while we can
Seizing every chance we're blessed with
And leave with no regrets
Rough winds only bring us higher
Tough fights only make us stronger
Yet knowing we've got one another
We'll stick together more than ever
Yea..........aaa...
When we look back, will we remember
Each moment of this year?
The days that mark our time in here
Threaten to disappear
All that we have's the present
To cherish while we can
Seizing every chance we're blessed with
And leave with no regrets
All the friends we've made we won't forget
We'll leave with no regrets
This two years no regrets
This two years no regrets
Yea and that's the end! if any of my new OG friends see this blog, why not tag and say hi =) can also leave a link to your blog if you have...haha. i'll be more than happy to add you on to the list...
till next time!
