missionary!
now that i have some time, might as well squeeze in a quick post about some interesting stuff yesterday, rather than doing random things like surfing on the net about games and the like. ><
yes so yesterday, after some not-so-focused discussion for the bio spa assignment, (eugene) yap and i went for lunch at S-11.
it was all fine until some random middle-aged guy came to sit next to me.
and...
"how come your lunch so late today?" - the guy
i looked around, realised he could only be talking to me, said i had a project meeting. then he went to ask what proj, i said bio, and then he asked for even more specifics. and he went to do some super drama thing which i cant remember.
but this wasnt even the best part.
he went to ask us what the secret to happiness was. =.=
at first i thought he was some weird philosopher trying to test ri students or something. then he went to say that one of the ingredients for happiness is believing in jesus.
ok...nothing wrong with that.
BUT
he suddenly went on a spammage about jesus, the whole religion and all, how people came about, believing in jesus etc. wa siao, and he says he spent 22 years researching on christianity. erm not exactly an excellent hobby/career/lifetime to pursue in my opinion, but whatever.
and the way he talks, its obvious that hes like some missionary (说教的) whos trying to convert the whole world into christians. including ri students, who are unfortunately (i meant fortunately, in this case) only caring about test results.
no offence to any christians reading this though, if there happened to be any.
diao.
yap actually asked him a few questions, which led him to spam more stuff, trying dam hard to win the argument. makes me think about the cle lesson just earlier yesterday, about negotiation and the 100%win-0%lose thing.
but what struck me most about what he said was this.
"if you dont believe that jesus exists, one day when you get into trouble, just say 'jesus, where are you? reveal yourself', and you see what happens."
hmm. im freethinker here just in case anyone is wondering, but it doesnt hurt to be open to other religious beliefs isnt it. maybe someday i might try this, but for now, next week's maths ta, phy quiz, eng speech, ss debate and philo test are taking up a tad too much of my focus already.
but first time hearing people spread religion, so its kind of an eye-opener for me nevertheless. =/
so there. maybe you'd like to think about it as well. what will happen? he didnt say, but i guess it wouldnt hurt either to find out.
bye for now.
