missionary!

now that i have some time, might as well squeeze in a quick post about some interesting stuff yesterday, rather than doing random things like surfing on the net about games and the like. ><

yes so yesterday, after some not-so-focused discussion for the bio spa assignment, (eugene) yap and i went for lunch at S-11.
it was all fine until some random middle-aged guy came to sit next to me.
and...
"how come your lunch so late today?" - the guy
i looked around, realised he could only be talking to me, said i had a project meeting. then he went to ask what proj, i said bio, and then he asked for even more specifics. and he went to do some super drama thing which i cant remember.
but this wasnt even the best part.
he went to ask us what the secret to happiness was. =.=
at first i thought he was some weird philosopher trying to test ri students or something. then he went to say that one of the ingredients for happiness is believing in jesus.
ok...nothing wrong with that.
BUT
he suddenly went on a spammage about jesus, the whole religion and all, how people came about, believing in jesus etc. wa siao, and he says he spent 22 years researching on christianity. erm not exactly an excellent hobby/career/lifetime to pursue in my opinion, but whatever.
and the way he talks, its obvious that hes like some missionary (说教的) whos trying to convert the whole world into christians. including ri students, who are unfortunately (i meant fortunately, in this case) only caring about test results.
no offence to any christians reading this though, if there happened to be any.

diao.
yap actually asked him a few questions, which led him to spam more stuff, trying dam hard to win the argument. makes me think about the cle lesson just earlier yesterday, about negotiation and the 100%win-0%lose thing.
but what struck me most about what he said was this.

"if you dont believe that jesus exists, one day when you get into trouble, just say 'jesus, where are you? reveal yourself', and you see what happens."

hmm. im freethinker here just in case anyone is wondering, but it doesnt hurt to be open to other religious beliefs isnt it. maybe someday i might try this, but for now, next week's maths ta, phy quiz, eng speech, ss debate and philo test are taking up a tad too much of my focus already.
but first time hearing people spread religion, so its kind of an eye-opener for me nevertheless. =/

so there. maybe you'd like to think about it as well. what will happen? he didnt say, but i guess it wouldnt hurt either to find out.
bye for now.

elearning.

stupid week.
its elearning.
the week's already half over, but im far from half done with all the online work they gave us.

er lets see, nearly every subject have, but so far i've only finished bio.
the rest? hardly touched.
doing maths now, which is one heck of a tough thing to do online, even with heymath and all.
dam screwed up, i'd rather go to school than stay at home and do this stupid thing.
sibei sian.

not to mention next week got 3 tests.
philo maths phy. all havent mug yet. whoo

oh yay. weizhong just told me HIHGER chi elearning is under some stupid attempted homework section, instead of school lessons.
chi dept is really great isnt it.
more work.
haiz.

sorry for the lack of stuff, but im not in the mood now to do anything exciting or what. plus its elearning week, how exciting could it get. =(
bye.

i shall just update on some of the stuff that happened for the past few days.

surprisingly never got back any ccts yet. not that im dam excited at getting them back though.

monday marked the start of our npcc enrichment course. its probably some kind of breakthrough in npcc history. anyway sec4s had silat course, which is basically malay martial arts. but spent a large part of the first session on like PT/strength analysis if u can call it. next few lessons should get more fun, more techniques to learn =D

on tues had first real physics lesson with the new (somewhat) physics teacher, mr wong yann. he likes to call himself yann-dao, which is super >< if u've seen him before. =/ oh well, at least he teaches decently, not bad not bad. unlike some other teacher we've previously had..."qq yuanshen" XD only 4E people would know what this means.

today had training...quite lame, mostly wasted on silly things like waiting, lagging, stoning etc. Great efficiency i suppose.
and i realise theres a serious lack of time for proper training la. term 2 half of the trainings are for enrichment courses. the other half which are all weds either has this inter UG muster parade or our own parade, which mr koh suggested, to uh, boost our pride in wearing our uniform or something? and he wants it like every alt weds. in conjunction with the inter ug muster parade which is ALSO EVERY ALT WEDS. how ggxxyyzz is that. wth..i mean the intention is there and its perfectly acceptable, but the methods...haiz. actually i dont mind having trainings on friday also. oh no what am i saying. makes me sound like some maniac, 3 trainings a week.. but it does makes up for lost time la, but people would probably pon it/protest like some crap. cmi.
we're in for a rough time. didnt hear too positive a feedback from those who had him before, such as from jaren. oh ya jaren is dam funny as well btw. rofl.

tmr is ri community day. cip in a lame way? who knows. nvm can play cards tmr on the bus with yak. =D something to look forward to. things to not look forward to: wearing the 185 shirt, which looks...disgusting if i have to say so, as well as having 3rd lang after that. sian diao.

hopefully the next few weeks turn better, although it'll probably not. ><
bye.

NCO camp

finally back home...
after denying my readers posts for so long, its time to reward them with a nice long one =)

today marked the end of the nco camp that we the sec4s were organising.
its difficult to express this kind of things in one word, so why dont i just bring you through the activities. yea

btw obviously i wont go through every single activity ya. sure sian diao, some of the activities not much point to mention.

bag check. usual 10sec thing, meant for some impossibilities to NOT happen -.- ok maybe it can. just dump everything out. but where got people pack liddat one...
and obviously sec3s got pumped for it. heres a picture, not sure why i even took it though. could be my sadistic nature kicking in or something =p

and this is just a random picture of them standing in line with all their stuff. its actually taken on day 2, but nvm.

so i was group IC for group 2. okay lets test my memory now, my grp consists of joshua suwe (swee, nice surname XD), sufyan, aloysius, wei loong and jeson! haha tyty. they're an average bunch, not those uber rowdy ones like...nvm. at least they're friendly enough. not sure if they remembered my name though, but if they were reading this they would probably at least know la.

there was the group base/cheer session...their cheer was dam cliche, adapted (so claimed) from a common cheer but i dont blame them. lack of creativity was a bit sad though.

then standy universe! our batch's nco camp standy universe was uber hiong la. theirs was...far from ours. no HO/CIs to screw them perhaps, so it wasnt that bad. their uniform standard is....also not very good >< sec3 le leh...

rifle drills. shude made me take the newbies (i meant campcraft team ppl), which i initially didnt want, but it was ok. ppl like teng chuan and dhivian are very...energetic, though. what was done? teach/make them do rifle drills, duh. realised i started losing some of my voice at this point. could be because of the bloody "cough drops" i took earlier that morning. anyway it wasnt very nice la. couldnt command properly liao, had to ask the rest to take over.

and now....
skip skip skip fast forward to the immunity challenge: bishan mini hike. now this is cool (or should i say cold). gave us around 20mins to go to our location and BACK to the JB classroom. holy crap, sec3s sure can run. hiong all the way sia. i mean like really all the way.
by this time i had already lost much of my voice, damit. needed to ask jieliang to accompany me, or i wouldve had great difficulty communicating at all.
so my group hiong all the way to scouts association and back. WITHOUT RAIN COVER. not much anyway. so when we got back we were 落汤鸡s, literally. soaked from top to bottom. well, at least we got first ^^ not like some other groups who were also soaked but werent first.
best part is, my handphone got screwed. main buttons not responding. at first i was like omg ggxx, but i remembered reading some random stuff from my friends blog before about being able to get the water in the phone to evaporate by leaving it to dry. so thats what i did, luckily the phone restored itself at like 9+/10 in the night. phew.

war games.
the game was kind of screwed zz. i mean theres only so few sec3s, and they are supposed to be doing stations for at least half of the game as well, so alot of
sec4s are like unnecessary -.-
anyway i thought that the clue was dam dam nice. i mean, there was U2, and five clues that form the word "xiang" if intepreted correctly. its supposed to help you identify the boss (weixiang), and there could be 3 possiblities actually. me and yak could've been possible targets too. if you dont get it heres how it goes; W can be broken up (symmetrically i think) into 2 "U" like shapes right? but for my name and yak's (which happens to be the same =D), U2 could mean a "U" and an "N". wow nice isnt it? but somehow they only thought of weixiang >.< huhu, so sad.

then there was a group debrief, and then lights out. rounds up day 1 more or less.

yes and my voice at the end of day 1 is still pretty much screwed/negligible. bloody sore throat, haiz.

moving on to day 2.
not much exciting things here at the start though. although the sec3s did get screwed for losing their rifles in the night. typical

i was supposed to be conducting this uniform ettiquete/MOI lecture for sec3s later on, but due to my horrible lack of voice i had to ask shude/alasdair to take over. nooo, i wanted to make it dam interesting la. damn.
MOI practice session was obviously an um, important session. alot of the sec3s dont know the right way to go about teaching drills, and some of them were just plain fooling around, like a certain shaun lim ren hua? =/ seems it will be necessary for them to have more MOI prac during normal trainings...but thats another thing altogether.

a random picture of the MOI session, which was a BIT messy/disorganised...=X

by the way the guy standing there with his back turned and his arms on his hips is the OTHER shaun in the sec3 squad. the 2 shauns are the most famous cadets in their squad, which is nice.

almost forgot, there was a standby universe after lunch. at first i was like just looking down at them assemble from above outside our ops control room, then was 2 lone(ly) rifles at the corner. hehe went with shude to snag them up. sec3s complained to us about stuff like "was watching them from a distance", so we cant take them. they dont understand what is "keep it by your SIDE 24/7" do they. tsk tsk.

sec3 parade. actually sec4s dont play much of a part in this la, but we were expected to just watch. anyway, the badge is real cool (sec4s get one too yays), but im lazy to put up a photo. think jianxiong's blog has a picture of it though, if u'd really like to see it u can go there, but i'll probably put it on my bag or something after this =)

dinner had pizza, albeit one slice >< sian
then final group debrief. think it went alright la, but i was just thinking about something; ppl always seem to refuse to say anything when they appear to have alot to say, but say alot when ppl do not ask them to say. like the case of sec3s. they didnt have much to comment on, which is...weird. ah never mind. and i think i sounded pretty weird when conducting the debrief. hopefully they dont think im dam screwed or something =/

lights out time!! yesterday night was super shuang. guowei wanted to go out for dinner (as pizza isnt the most filling thing on earth, esp. not 1 slice), so i borrowed his laptop. to watch yugioh on youtube XD at first only me and yak watching, then ppl started coming back and there was like 10ppl watching the thing LOL. and they decided to put it on the screen for ease of watching. heres some pics:

nice?

practically the whole room was watching, lol...but i like.
dont u think this convinces you that yugioh is an awesome show/anime. despite people saying its a dam lame show about some card game and all. those very people are watching the show man. yesh that rocks.

hmm and at last my voice improved abit, but still not 100% well.

actually there was also the night hike, but owing to my yet unrecovered sore throat i decided (sadly) to give it a miss =(((( heard it was quite nice, they emo-ed at the sunrise or something. if u want pictures of it u could try going to lincoln ang's blog, he would probably post up something like this.

thus ends the nco camp 08...there isnt really much to say, being the one organising and not on the recieving end, but i suppose i didnt regret spending 2.5 days of my extremely short marchh olidays to go for this camp. its these kind of things that reignite the passion for npcc that i have.

lastly i just want to mention, since wei loong brought up a point about going online to search for blog entries about NCO camp and so on, perhaps a few of the npcc sec3s (perhaps those in group 2) have found their way here to my blog! o.O if they do feel free to say hi and tag, but pls pls identify yourself with your name class register no. etc...haha no la. just a name will do, i should be able to recall your names anyway. however i really dont want some guy named as "sec3" saying "hi sir wassup" or something..its spastic and if i find out who you are you are so dead. ok i was joking.

now its back to a considerable amount of homework. damn. academics suck eh, but i'll try to update this blog, hopefully for as long as theres no mountain of homework before me.
bye people.

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

huhu.
i didnt keep my promise.
no update again X((((
sorry.

lets see...got sick on fri, fever giddy etc, had to go see doctor and couldnt even go to HRC (high rope challenge) on sat. not that i particulary wanted to go, in fact i was quite happy to be able to pon =D shh. dont tell anyone =)
then got a cough on saturday night -.- nice.
so obviously i no mood to blog la....until perhaps now, when my cough has subsided substantially, i think. tmr is nco camp leh. heng...otherwise go there cough like free, ya. not the best condition to be in is it.

hopefully i'll be able to do a blog post on the NCO camp...then again i have alot of hol homework undone >.< been playing yugioh for quite awhile =X
okok im procrastinating. but the game's fun right. =D

umm since im here i might as well talk about something else...to keep my readers (if there are still any regulars) entertained.
did play yugioh with yak n joel seah after the pre-camp briefing today, but i wont talk about it. not everyone understands it right. it'll be a waste of words in that case.

...
...
...
unfortunately.......i cant find anything nice enough to talk about. even after casting my mind around or something. hehe good things are worth the wait anyway, so why not stay tuned to my next post! god knows when the next one will be, but oh well life has to go on right. =)

yes, and TAG. thanks.
