i realised this place has been "dead" for a week, so i guess i'd better update now.

yesterday went bishan library for CIP. as usual.
then a interesting thing happened on the bus. saw a mother n daughter i believe, staring in my direction. i was like ??? wth they looking at me for. btw look like free also. then the mother approached me o.O

they saw my handphone and was asking about it. her daughter have a similar handphone, nokia 5200. but mine was 5300 =D (owned)
anyway she was asking me like, why her hp recording function cannot work or something. obvioulsy i was no tech pro, so i just uh, asked her that she could approach hp company if got problem. lol.

back from ATC.
wanted to post yesterday, but there were some...difficulties, so to speak.
moving on.

ATC AT PULAU UBIN

my uh, fear/anxiety abt the camp a few days before were...kinda unnecessary.
was dam scared of a remake of the sec2 ATC, getting screwed like there was no tmr.

time for a chronological (hopefully) log of the camp.

hmm only 12/13 sec3s from our school went for the camp. =( last year was like, 20+. guess every1 sian diao/had OIP/din bother.

hm. usual transport to NPCC campsite. bus from sch to changi jetty. bumboat ride to ubin. TREK of 30min (and possibly beyond) to the NPCC campsite. luckily we were headed for noordin. and not bahru, which was alot further. =D
then like wth, we were the first dam school to reach. stone like free for 1/2hour, then everyone except cat high ppl arrived.
first activity was diaoz. campfire discussion, immo. =.= didnt turn out to be much of a success, expectedly.
tent pitching was next. er, ya tent pitching lor. not much to say about it. we were pitching on/near a anthill/nest though. guess what will happen.
oh ya. there wasnt lunch. =((((
had orienteering. learnt...orienteering -.- kinda sian. ok very. had a lame activity, run around campsite finding diff checkpoints and doing things like measuring distance on maps using scale string and all. acitivity was halted halfway due to strong winds which blew the clues away. =.=" but who says i wasnt glad that that happened? XD
had discussions again, i think. nothing much to say about that i suppose.
dinner...haiz the usual NPCC fare, for the campers at least. maggi mee and canned food =(((((( sux. didnt mention that the shed was crawling with 58239437 kinds of insects, and that we had to cook our own food and all, and eat on the ground. lol nvm.
after dinner was a talk by AC, mr azman. told us some stuff, but i just summarise for readers sake as well as mine.
one, know your own strengths and weaknesses. also know others' strengths.
two, seize opportunities to learn, about life lessons.
three, appreciate others for their help given to you.
yea pretty inspiring i guess.
then...discussion again. -.- there does seem to be an awful lot of discussion time. lack of activities? reminds me of NCO camp, where drills were used as filler activities.

night treasure hunt. quite fun. had clues, supposed to figure out what place in the campsite it meant, go there to search for a piece of paper with a word on it. at least this was more fun, clues were abit harder, and well, the night atmosphere probably added abit of sth to it. =/ and we were the only group that found all the clues. rest of the groups heck care zao back, lol. and our 2 instructors got dam interested in some mating snails at the bbq pit...they had to look at them everytime they walk past it.

was nth much, basically debrief, then go washup/sleep. didnt bath though, just changed =/ sleep was kinda cmi. insect repellant didnt seem too effective, or were the insects there too imba/resilient? guess thats why its called npcc camp resilience, hehe.
didnt sleep much that night, maybe 3-4hours, probably less. got irritated quite abit by the seemingly RANDOM music coming from the canteen direction, like wt*? its 1+,2+ in the night deh. still play music, and so loudly. until now i still dont understand why theres the music at all.

day 2!
woken up by random guy from another tent. brushed teeth. fell in for morning pt/assembly. lalala. pt kinda tiring/hiong.
breakfast. not bad i suppose. THE MILITARY BREAKFAST ENERGY BARS (so named by andrew tam) WERE OWNAGE. =D if i ever find them in a supermarket i buy the whole shelf sia. serious, they own like free. go and buy 921743460 bars of them. =DDDDDDDDD
then had some random small activity i think.
had ATF. whoo?
got 3 courses. i only went for 1 =( saw other 2 is like kinda lame de, largely rely on body strength and such so i had no real reason to go for it. went for the one meant for er, overcoming fear of heights i think. haha i just chionged through it. like really. took a little big step cos of loss of balance or something. ended up taking 4 steps instead of 1 in a go =) still kinda afraid of heights though, sobs. but i think i can face it better now...
then was lunch. no need to talk about it.
supposed to be rafting after that. but due to impending rain was cancelled. replaced with game inventing/cheers. kinda sian/disorganised/scattered. kinda wasted away the 2/3 hours as well...unfortunately. but i guess the rafting would have been as much of a failure as well...seeing i've tried it during OBS before.
dinner.
campfire! whoo! about the only activity that could be considered fun in the whole camp. had performances by all the groups as well as cheers. performances by sec2s were dam cliche/boring? sec3s performance were alot more ownage, somehow. and i think our group's cheer was quite ownage. got lotsa applause =D go pangya! coincidentally my surname is pang =D
yea so all in all campfire's...pretty fun.
had weird activity called games planning. pretty lame de la. got abruptly stopped by something which i cant remember.
then sleep. hmm, slept better this night. still kena harassed by the stupid random music. but it WAS interesting..like folk music liddat lolx. oh ya we were spamming chat in the tent hahax, since it was last night. spam like half an hour =)

3rd day.
pt and breakfast. pt was led by a few of our batch though. and it was slacker, yay.
tent unpitching, nth to say.
oh btw i got like around 10 antbites + moz bites altogether. haiz our tent at the edge, obviously the most hiong.
area cleaning! slacked around (kinda). think we finished all the stuff in like 1hr+ instead of 2hr woots =D slack time!!!
photo taking by units/groups/etc. then was prize giving and all. then zao home! whee. home sweet homeeeee

there u go. chronological log of the camp. now for reflection =/

this camp was more of a "mental" then "physical" camp. sec2s one was more like, exposing us to the various activites like kayaking, rock climbing, etc. basically quite a physical training camp la. which equates to super hiong. sec3 was more of a leadership inclined camp. which is good i suppose, since its at the least, SLACK(er). we really need the training.
being an NCO is really not easy. i've realised that, after going through this camp, and trying to hold a promotion test of 20+sec2s with a freaking manpower of 3. and a serious lack of planning beforehand. the safety, concern for cadets, the responsibility, the smart planning, the effective executing, the "setting example" and all that, makes it one heck of a job/post. not that i feel negatively otherwise about it, it only makes me look at it as so much more important/significant now. and i do think we've all got alot to learn, and hopefully put it into practice soon enough, in our own units.
and i think i've made up my mind regarding a certain course now. the camp has strengthened my belief on that. and im going to go for it no matter what now. appreciation for the unit...yea its most fitting i suppose.


another long post =( well, at least u'll have some good reading material for the moment. wont be posting much probably, simply because theres nth sufficiently interesting to talk about unfortunately. hopefully though, there'll be a post soon. will try to talk about summat interesting then ;)

and...reflect on the past year. =/

what does one year mean? another year closer to A levels? closer to NS? closer to etc etc. not that it matters, im just randoming here XD
this year has been a good one for me, with the class i've got. not that its the best or anything, but good enough.
people who've made the year enjoyable for me...i want to thank you or something =)
zhixuan, jiaxuan, eugene, kiathong, christopher, leonard goh, china scholars esp. hengrui and yuzhongming, ya and the rest. i believe 3E is a very nice class to be in and im glad that im in it. =D

OBS
wasnt exactly torturous but not exactly shuang either. in any case it was a very good experience ya. dont need to talk too much about it. think the teamwork/class spirit shown during the camp was excellent though. =)

hai...think its a little screwed up, due to our constant procrastination but hopefully next year we can change this! hopefully. and next year CHI RE AGAIN! hehehe valy naice. hope to get 4ppl for the group instead of 3 though. any takers?

hmm slightly sensitive topic...
guess all the teachers were generally ok...except for chem and eng maybe? =(
on the other hand alot of our current teachers aint teaching us next year. which is both good...and bad. =/

of course theres the academic aspect...
this year has been the best. i think. 3.87 is well, godlike to some extent, seeing the new academic system of the school has brought down many people to gpa such as 3.3+ and 3.4.
did i mention that they moderated every single subject except bio and chem?
my initial gpa should have been 3.77. but due to this stroke of luck got propelled up to 3.87 =O
not sure if i can keep this up next year though. seems...extremely hard. taking into account the fact that im going to take up more commitments next year... =X
but nvm, like yap said, just chiong! not that it always succeeds but, its a start...

CCA.
this year has been somewhat of a big disappointment, what with failing to get both posts for the house and for NPCC. i cant deny that it has been...quite a "blow" to me, since i cant think of any other suitable word. but i'll definitely continue to work hard for the CCA. it aint going to stop me from pursuing my goals =)

watched blades of glory, from daniel. haha was a very nice show, other than the uh, sick parts and such...>< at least it was jing cai la k. and mind, not jing cai in THAT way...in case ur wondering. but chong was laughing dam alot during ALL the parts... XD oops shouldnt have said that

spring cleaning
uh ya clean classroom lor. spammed a detergent from duno who/school like no tomorrow. spam spam spam, lubbed a random cloth lying around. actually that cloth was a dam good one lor =D duno why kena abandoned. and we really spammed the wall edges near the floor with cloth/water/detergent till it looked dam dam dam clean. class was smelling quite nice also, cos of the massive detergent. other class "stank" though, full of bleach or something.
lol oh ya, zhixuan was dam smart too. he got some random cloth which was uber uber uber black due to wiping the whiteboard uh, place where u put the markers on and such. so it was SOOO black, the moment the pail of water came he dumped it in, and guess what happened.
