Owen's 2nd Birthday Party!!

We celebrated Owen today with a fun little get together at the park and then the fire station. Since Owen is WAY into trucks, cars, trains, etc, I thought it'd be cute to do a little vintage firetruck party. I kept it low key because let's be honest I am going to have a baby ANY DAY now (says my Doc). But I loved being able to celebrate my sweet little boy before the chaos really begins.

We went to a nearby park first and played, ate some yummy snacks, had cupcakes, sang Happy Birthday, and opened gifts.

Singing Happy Birthday!

After some time at the park we headed over to the fire station just a few minutes away. When we first arrived they were gone on a call and so we waited for about 30 minutes before almost the whole group decided to leave. We had just left when they pulled in, but luckily there were still some friends outside of the station and they called us so we could turn around. I am so glad we did! This was the part I was most excited about for Owen. And boy am I glad I decided to do this! Owen LOVED it. No that's probably an understatement. He was in awe and couldn't control himself at times. :) He just couldn't get enough of it. We loved watching him be so excited and happy.
This was probably his favorite thing...to drive the fire truck! They let him sit up there because he was the birthday boy. :)

 Such a big boy!!

It was the cherry on top when the fireman got a call while we were there! They got ready so fast and were off in a minute (literally). The kids (and adults) loved watching them hop into their truck and speed out of the fire station. The best ending to a great party!!
 Bye firetruck!!

We are so grateful to our many friends who came to the party. Seriously, Owen was showered with love and awesome gifts. It's like Christmas here! But I am so grateful we have so many wonderful friends who love and support not only Tyson and I but Owen as well. He has made some pretty awesome friends too!

Happy (early) Birthday to our sweet, sweet boy!!
We love you more than anything.

Elf really is the best movie

Lately we have been having little movie nights together and it has been so fun. Tyson loves to make a bed out of lots of blankets and pillows on our family room floor and watch movies. So last night we made a nice big bed, got our yummy treats out and snacks, and put Elf on. Naturally Tyson thinks this is the best movie ever. But the funny thing is is that Owen does too! He doesn't usually watch more than 20 minutes of a show but he will sit through almost the entire movie! He really is a mini Tyson and I love it.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

I can't believe I'm going to say this...BUT I am really loving this "cold" weather here in AZ. Just a few days ago it was in the 70's and now it has dropped to the high 50's. Now THIS is a nice winter. =) It's MY kind of winter.

We put up our Christmas decor before Thanksgiving so that when we got home from our Dallas vacation we could just enjoy the holiday season. I have been nesting and so therefore almost all of my Christmas shopping is done, all of my gift making is complete, and I have revamped the boys' room to fit another little guy. There are only a few little things left to prepare for baby boy to come and let me tell ya, it feels good.

I can't get over my pine scent either. As I write this we are having hot chocolate, listening to Christmas music and just enjoying each other. Oh how I love Sundays.

 {still waiting for baby boy's stocking to come in the mail}

Owen Lately....

I love this boy. He makes us so happy. I cannot believe how quickly he is growing up and learning about the world around him. It really boggles my mind. In fact I have decided that he needs to stop growing. He is getting big way too fast. I want my baby back.

I have to say that this age is very trying yet really fun at the same time. Owen is learning about everything around him: how to act in certain situations, how to treat others, how to share, how to listen, etc. I love teaching him new things, but of course it tries my patience at the same time.

I love watching Owen explore and figure things out. His vocabulary is growing like crazy and he is talking all the time. He continues to wow me as we read together or learn about new animals or numbers. He knows about 3/4ths of the alphabet and he continues to love to read with me.

This makes my heart happy :)

And lately we have been enjoying our outside space. I created a little art table for Owen. I think he's ready to paint, write and create. He sat and painted for 30 minutes without moving when we tried it for the first time the other day. I love it.

I love my sweet boy. He makes me laugh every day. We seriously cannot get enough of him.

We love you Owie boy!

Matt and Haley 11.26.11

We were lucky enough to travel to Dallas, Texas for my little brother's wedding over Thanksgiving weekend. We couldn't be happier for Matt and Haley. They are such an amazing couple and make each other so happy. You can tell they're in love just by looking at them. They treat each other with respect and smother each other with love always. It sure makes me smile to see my brother so happy.

So we made the trip out to Texas Thanksgiving Day. My sister and her family drove from San Diego and offered to drive us all too on their way. But the doc (and me!) said no to an 18 hour drive. :) But Tyson decided he should hop in with them to save us some money. Which left little Owie and I to travel alone...which honestly wouldn't be too hard if I weren't 8 months pregnant. :)

We left our house at 7:45am and got to Dallas at 2pm. It was a loooooong day but Owen flew like a champ. He really is a great flyer. My belly just hurt a lot because he is still a lap rider and there really wasn't much room on my lap for him. :) I was super tired and worn out by the time Tyson arrived at 6pm but of course the traveling was well worth it. Going home Owen did even better and it was nice to get home and relax and let Tyson take a nap after driving through the night.

It was a fun little trip and I just wish we could've stayed longer! But it was definitely filled with laughs, good food, Twilight, temple sessions, and wonderful family time. I loved every minute.

Congratulations Matt and Haley!
We love you!
