Tone Up The Fats

I wanna tone up my lazy body since I'm quite free now. Been wanting to do so since, eons ago!

Today afternoon I went to play badminton with Olivia and my sis. I perspired like the tall fountain at Temasek Polytechnic (TP).  In the evening I met up with Darren and hit Bedok Reservoir, me on bicycle and he with his 2 legs. Walked two-thirds the distance back home as ol' Darren was tired out from his long run already.

I was thinking of going swimming tml. I think it is a good idea. I can suntan and get fit at the same time =) Handbills to do this Saturday, more exercise up ahead. Haha!

I'm so bored. Looking forward to the BKK trip with Joan, can't wait to get out of Singapore. Nuthin much to update this time round, I'm surprised too. Ha!

Oh, happy 23rd birthday to dearest beautiful Angelina, on the 28th. God bless you and we miss you here in Singapore. -hugs- Love ya babe~

Hirlie & Sharifah's Wedding 08.03.09

Hirlie, my UTS classmate has gotten married! I was shocked and even laughed at him for pulling a fast one on me, when he called me to tell me the good news 1 month back! Hahahaha

The conversations we had on the phone and in the past (when doing projects together) about him being a bachelor and now getting married, was silly and ultimately, I was proven wrong by him in the end. He did managed to get married by the time we graduated from UTS. Haha!

The wedding was at Chengal Ballroom, Crowne Plaza Hotel at T3! I went with Cher Hao and it was a lil sweet affair!

A lunch buffet reception, not too bad to my standards, given it is a Malay wedding and my angbao to him was not much either. Heehee!

Here are the pics of the glorious food we ate, and the ballroom itself (:
The reception table, with all the well-wishes of fellow friends and family, on that lil tree.
My wishes to the newlyweds =)
The "natural" feel of the ceiling, with sunlight and plants' shadows reflecting into the ballroom.

Only 15 tables were placed, a very small affair indeed. (Max 50 tables in the ballroom though)

Table 14

The tree-like door gifts, with the blue cup (unique). I like!
Us, in black & white!

The other guests =)

Photo-taking time!

All his noisy "brothers & sisters" for the wedding :D

Lotsa food stacked into that small plate =P
Dessert!

I totally adore these shots of the orchid, under natural sunlight. Cool stuff! I need a camera for myself now.

This stalk of roses is in a cylinder full of gel-like substance, to preserve the shape and colour of the roses, I think. Looks good, like it is floating in the deep waters. Cool!

Took this shot of the sunlight shining into the building. Click on this pic for a bigger shot. Can you spot that faint ray of sunlight? If so, I say that you appreciate nature as well as me ^^v

A pity that Chris (our other third in our invincible project group), could not turn up that day and I doubt we'll see each other so soon again. Ha! Oh, and I arrived late for the reception b4 the lunch started, and I missed out on the photo-taking with dear Hirlie and his wife, Sharifah.

Oh wells, at least I still got the table shot (:

My dearest congratulations once again to you both, although you dun read my blog. Haha! May God bless your marriage and be blissful in your new family =) Have kids quick, and stop smoking, friend! Cheers!

Blessed By God!

I watched Detroit Metal City today with Cher Hao. Good chill-out day with him, finally. Hee!

The movie, it is a Japanese comedy about how this country bumpkin is transformed into a death-metal lead singer in Tokyo. Super funny lah. Bing Sheng told me about this, although I had set my mind on not ever watching this show bcos of the Satanic-looking face of the singer =\ Ended up it was more of a LOL show, than OMG, KILL ME! show.

This is the synopsis from Yahoo! Movies:
"Soichi Negishi moved to Tokyo to chase his dream of becoming a musician playing stylish, Swedish-style pop. Instead, he finds himself leading the death metal band Detroit Metal City as the costumed and grotesquely made-up "demon emperor" Johannes Krauser II. Although he hates the role and the things he has to do as a member of the band, he definitely has a talent for it. Adapted from the hit Japanese comic book by Kiminori Wakasugi, the movie follows Negishi's antics as he tries to reconcile the two very different sides of his life and find out what it really means to achieve his dream."

This phrase from the movie is cheesy and corny, "No Music, No Dream!". Oh, and you gotta say it in a Japanese accent, it tickles me =) LOL!

Oh, I received a surprise gift from Mediacorp today, after coming home from dinner =) I got some money for no reason. I dun even recall giving them my particulars in any lucky draw form etc either. I'm puzzled, maybe it's a gift from God? Woot!

I'm very happy now, even though I'm still jobless, as I was telling Mei on MSN just now. Hee! He is faithful~ Net outreach this Friday, time flies so quickly again. Time to prepare the pasta, my message, some contacts and friends to call, and the details up next here (by Thursday, I hope)!

Oh, I managed to meet up with Alvin, Madeline and my bf for a vegetarian lunch buffet at Ling Zhi Vegetarian Restaurant, somewhere last week. It was the same place we went to celebrate Madeline's 21st birthday 2 years back. Hee! We had fun at lunch, it felt like we had not seen each other for ages already. I miss them all, the buddies =) -group hug-

Hope to see you all on Madeline's 23rd birthday. After all, birthdays are usually the only times we get together, and rare dinner meetups. You all go call "her" ok, I dun want rejections already.

Last but not least, my LG hp finally can use the camera again already. YAY! The auto-focus suddenly functioned again when I was taking pics of red clouds at sunset recently. Only shit thing now is, still can't upload into my Mac. Whatever!

Yummy & Affordable Food!

I suggested Bali Thai at Tampines Mall last week, for dinner together with Cher Hao. It was a good, filling, yummy, delicious, affordable and happy :D

Here we go:
Drinks for the evening: Salty Plum Soda & Iced Mango
Cher Hao's dinner set: Tom yum soup, rice, pandan chicken and Phad Thai
Close-up of his dinner! All for just $13.90++
His drink.... included in the set =)
My dinner set: Grilled chicken spaghetti, tom yum soup and drink =)

Happy me ^^v
Aftermath of our dinner =P

Dessert: Kiwi Agar-agar (included too)

We ventured to Plaza Singapura for dessert once, as Cher Hao wanted to try this famous Taiwanese crushed ice fruit dessert. It was expensive but fresh fruits was the lure after all. Ha!

Mango crushed ice, with mango chunks

Me all ready to attack that big bowl of mango stuff!!!

Poser bf, as usual. He says he looks Korean in this pic. You reckon so?

Not too bad, if you got $9 to spare for dessert.

One word for that: COLD!!!!

Time to Celebrate, C'mon!

It has been confirmed already! I am so going to Sydney in May, for about 10 days =) An all-expenses-paid trip by Pa! It will be a mega celebration for my graduation ceremony, a long holiday for my parents and me, a milestone for the family and where I reap my rewards for my hard work.

Most of all, I thank God for His showers of blessings on me and my household.

I'm placed in-charge of booking the hotel, get the map and directions right, and all the miscellaneous stuff. Oh wells. There's no free lunch in this world, not even from our own parents.

Encounter at the beginning of this week, was good! I re-learnt stuff I have neglected years ago, strongholds broken, spiritual life strengthened, faith renewed and eyes opened once again. AMEN!

Oh, Thalia and Elisha (Nicholas' niece and nephew), they are so adorable! Absolutely adore them =)

March School Holidays?

Long week ahead =\

Although its the March school holidays, it doesn't apply to me, bcos I'm not a MOE student, neither am I studying anyway. Here's my schedule for this "holidays" anyway, starting from today....

Monday: Encounter with my girls, @ Yishun (overnight)
Tuesday: Encounter, Nick's BBQ @ Pasir Ris Park (maybe), caregroup @ Tampines =\
Wednesday: Out with bf, Girls' Night Out @ Cheryl's
Thursday: NLs BBQ @ Amos' (to be confirmed)
Friday: Leaders' Retreat @ Tampines, Net @ Jermyn's
Saturday: Leaders' Retreat, Edge @ Yishun =\
Sunday: Church @ Tampines, MOE seminar @ Orchard somewhere, JobsDB career fair @ Suntec

Why do I feel like I'm working for the church almost full-time now? My past weeks have been spent at Jurong West, laying cables with Uncle Melvin and gang. Zzzzzz...... Should I feel happy that I'm serving God for free, helping those in need and sacrificing my job search? Well, at least I know that He will honour me back =)

God bless me! I'm so tired~

Joo Koon

This week is mainly spent at JW again, with UMA and gang =) namely Jemima, Nicholas and Jonathan from R11/12. We had more crap to settle and redo -.- definitely not fun. UMA even had a case of food poisoning. God bless UMA.

Anyway, as my post title suggests, it is more about that recently-opened new MRT station, extended on the East-West Line of SMRT. Joo Koon is currently the last stop of the line, just after Pioneer and Boon Lay.

I was in the train one day, after helping UMA, alongside with Nicholas and Elijah, when we came across that directional sign on the MRT platform.

Me: How come got station called Joo Koon one? It's on the platform panel, up there... -points to board, from inside of train-
Elijah: Huh? Not Boon Lay meh?
Nicholas: Huh? I noticed it one day when I was going to school few days back liao.
Me: So weird name for an MRT station leh....
Elijah: Joo Koon? What kinda name is that man?!? I would never EVER name my kid "Joo Koon"!?!!
Me & Nicholas: HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! True true~
Elijah: Who would even name his son Joo Koon? (repeats question x10)
Me & Nicholas: LOL!

Yups, so basically, Joo Koon is really a bad name for a kid or even the MRT station. SMRT should rethink of another name, really. LOL!

UMA & JW

We helped UMA again consecutively for the past 4 days. We are shag, UMA is dead beat shag. We travelled alot on the road, all over Singapore literally. East (Tampines & Pasir Ris), West (Jurong West & CCK), North (Toa Payoh & AMK), Central (Bugis)!

We ate lesser than the usual meals, slept much lesser than usual, laughed more than the usual, got scoldings more than the usual.

We even stayed over at the JW building to hook up, set up, pack up and not screw up. UMA laughed at me when I took a power nap (as suggested by Brian) at 4.30am yesterday, I dunno why either. Beats seeing him super duper stressed over every lil detail in all the AV rooms, his face so red with the blood furiously pumping to his brain. I always fear that one day he too stressed then -choy!- 爆血管* (burst blood vessel).

We, being me, Nicholas and Jemima, have seen and encountered all sorts of behaviours from UMA, and we have resolved to just laughing it off and to take absolutely NO offence at all. It's an art, I tell you. It ain't that easy as you think it is, alright?!

So back to JW during the weekend, we literally worked from 1pm on Saturday till Sunday 10.20am, excluding all the travelling to and fro earlier on!

Things we did at JW: Stoning in between, whined and grumbled when asked to do work, talking and laughing like retards, playing Bible charades (Jemima's idea), packing lotsa boxes into the cramped storeroom, finding his spectacles and other tools lying around, having regular coffee breaks and getting annoyed scoldings from UMA.

All these happenings yesterday were made possible with Jonathan and Brian's help, from R11/12. Their video team kids are so obedient to their leader, unlike ours =\ We got loads to learn from the discipline master of video, and to learn how to always tekan Samuel and the other naughty kids during duty and do 5 days long of video training liao.

We were so worried that everything will not be up in time for the morning service at 10.30am, but thank God we finished just in time!

Uncle Melvin, you are the MAN! Woo hoo~! You did it, with much suffering and very lil sleep for the past many months. Thank you for your selfless sacrifice of your time to VFC JW building. YAY! As quoted from Elijah's label sticker, "Uncle Melvin, Well Done!"

3000 cheers for UMA!

God's Blessings!

I finally went to the dentist after many years! Wahahaha! I thank God that my wisdom teeth are growing very normally, vertical eruption, as quoted by my dentist. By the way, I really think she's a nice lady and a good dentist, as said by Pa too. I got my teeth scaled and polished in the end, it was a big relief that I can save the extraction of wisdom teeth money, on simple cleaning instead. It's a form of blessing, although the simple cleaning took away $100 from me ):

Well, UMA got me, Elijah and Jemima to help him at Jurong West again. The colourfully green carpets have been laid, the stage is still bare, the cables are still on the floor, unattached to any equipment yet. Chairs are at the side, waiting to be polished and arranged into the main hall. Equipments are waiting to be hung on, attached to, put onto something else. Haha! It is smaller than Tampines, definitely. R5/6 still has the best building in VFC! Woo hoo~!

Jemima and I took lotsa labeling again, it got so monotone that I dozed off while waiting to go home. UMA was in a terrible mood almost the whole day, except when we were heading back to Toa Payoh. Other than that, the day was rather uneventful. Oh, the carpets at JW, I love it. I took a pic of it, but well then again, the pic can't be uploaded into my Mac. Darn LG.

Oh yes, last week's net outreach was great. 10 members, including myself, plus 7 visitors! Awesome! We had movie night and it was Dark Knight movie. Cleone gave a good message and we enjoyed the snacks and the hellos =) This month's outreach will be better and more well-planned.

Met up with Joan to discuss BKK trip, it was good. Booked our hotel and we got a list of stuff to do there. First priority, SHOPPING! Haha!

I can now say, I have officially graduated from UTS (University of Technology, Sydney)! I can choose to have my graduation ceremony at Sydney campus itself, held in April and May. Or Hong Kong, Shanghai and Kuala Lumpur in July. Well, Pa said Sydney is the best choice, we are going there and, so the actual date will be out once I registered for it =) YAY!

I thank God that He has made all things possible for me. His blessings are so wonderful that I am lost for words. He gave me many open doors of opportunities to minister to different people, and I must say, divine appointments are indeed marvellous to be in!

Hirlie's wedding this Sunday afternoon =) God has blessed me with sufficient money to put into the angbao too, just when I was feeling broke. Awesome God we have eh =P

That's all I can update for now. Oh, happy 24th birthday to you, 二哥! Goodnight loves!

2009 New Year Batam Getaway

This entry is really quite late to post, 3 months to be exact. Not exactly my fault either, bcos I just got the pics last month, but I'll just do so bcos I want to anyway.

We decided to book this short trip to Batam during my last sem of studies, and it was like a treat for us both, for working so hard for 2008. We got a good travel promo deal and off we went for our long awaited relaxation trip.

At Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal
In the ferry....
Upon arrival at Batam, these kiasu Singaporeans quickly got up from their seats and chiong for the exit. Stupid.
I like this shot. Feels like eternity to walk from the ferry to the immigration point. Yawns.
A natural shot of nature =) I like!
All sian from the ferry ride, hunger pangs and lack of rest.
Comfortable king-sized bed =)
TV had Mediacorp's Channel 5 and 8. We managed/forced to catch Little Nonya, bcos we din understand Bahasa Indonesia on the other channels anyway.
Our survival kit for ulu Batam!
30th December 08 - A clear, breezy and sunny day!

The beach view from our room =) with a human-sized chess board outside.
The start of many photo-taking.....

On the bridge across the swimming pool. LOL!
Pavilion by the beach shore :D
I like this shot. We look like Christmas decorations, and the flying curtains behind, gives a very breezy feel.
Like a rundown deserted beach. I like that neglected feel in this pic.
Different stone sizes on the beach, accompanied by that dried seaweed thing.
Enjoying the sea view and the shiok wind blowing on my face!
I love wearing this pair of shades. Goes well with almost anything I wear!
The sun, the sand, the sea and us :D
The resort setting up for the new year countdown the following night....
Cher Hao's weak attempt at punching the bag =)
Funnily unglam pic of him posing a punch. LOL!
An act-aggressive pose.
Me kicking the bag, bcos Cher Hao said the insides of the gloves stink badly =\
I like the flying kick. Just like how I always kick Samuel's butt.
I look darn good, I know that :)
Dart-throwing~
I suck at playing golf, be it in reality or virtually.
I think he did a better birdie than I did.
The throwing of hoops into candlelight pole. I can't aim very well.
Cher Hao did a better job, rather easily. Chey!
Table tennis. It was the best game ever, I think I'm a born ping-pong player lah!
Acting cute ^^v
Sunset by the beach~
I like this pic, very peaceful and serene feel.
Last pic at the beach, for the day.
S$25/hour for Karaoke?! Madeline will be very unhappy lah! The KTV room was big, only available for 1 bunch of customers (ranging from 1 to 20 odd pax) at a time. But still, CMI lah!
At the main entrance of the resort, with the small gong.
Night shot of the lighted pavilion by the beach. I like it. Isolated refuge feel.
Breakfast area. We wondered the whole night, what we were gonna have for breakfast =P
Facing the swimming pool and the sea.
Typical fried Asian food, with diluted juice.
Too tired at breakfast time, to wear contact lenses.
31st December 08 - A clear, windy and sunny day =)
The wind was smacking at our faces!
These 3 pics are funny, bcos the wind was blowing from Cher Hao's left side and the packet of chips was literally fighting the wind. Decided that it is "magic" and that our (sticky) fingers can indeed attract items w/o effort.

Decided to go to town, which was about 35 mins drive from the resort. Din intend to go bcos of the outrageous taxi fare charged, S$50 for two-way. Extortion, I say. Thank God, there was this pair of Singaporean ladies who wanted to go town area too, but hesitated bcos of the fare too.

In the end, 4 of us spilt the fare equally, we had fun chatting in the cab to and fro. Feels good to meet fellow countrymen in a foreign country, you suddenly feel that you are not alone after all!

Passed by a shop with my name! I'm good~
Proud "owner" of the shop behind :p
Bought a pair of couple rings there, at a ridiculously affordable price! The design was interesting, the contrast colours of gold and silver were great, and the sizes we got, were the last! Waited for 1 full year b4 we got our couple rings, in Batam. Haha! Singapore's silver shops' designs are so common, boring and costly anyway.
Name engraving was FREE, but it was manually done and not by machine laser. The font came out abit ugly for my ring with Cher Hao's name. My name for his ring turned out well, plainly bcos there were only 5 letters to screw up, if ever possible.
Same Christmas colour combination as the previous day. Unplanned and unintentional.
Doraemon pancakes, 5 for 30,000 rupiah!
A&W for dinner! 100K rupiah for such small portions. It was quite cold and rubbery to eat, by the time we arrived back to our room.

We had FREE traditional massage by the hotel, as it was included in our mere $100 travel deal. Haha! It was a eventful 1 hour massage, struggling to watch Little Nonya while being massaged. The masseurs were giggling at us, speaking in unconfident English, but their massage skills surely got standard lah.

The best part was when, they demanded for "extra money", as quoted by them, which meant a tip. Well, Cher Hao acted blur and they left empty-handed. LOL! We had a good sleep that night, part credits to the massage and partly due to the long shopping day we had.

Dessert after breakfast!
Going back to ferry terminal. Our clothes colour combination finally matched, somehow. Ha!

We bought bottles of alcohol at DFS Singapore, but I left them at his house. I took some pics with my LG hp but I can't upload to my Mac bcos of that mini CD fault. Nevermind. It was a different way of celebrating the new year, as compared to the usual Watchnight service at Sembawang. Haha!

Last but not least, happy 1st year anniversary to my love! (As of 1st January 09) We din actually got together on that day officially, but bcos we ourselves din know the exact date; at Ying Xi's great suggestion, we decided on New Year's Day.

Next trip coming up, Bangkok with Joan! Wheeee~
