Siglap Sec Campus Outreach BBQ Event

It is finished!!! Thank God!

The mad-cap planning for the Siglap Sec BBQ outreach event was crazy and messy due to many last-minute changes happening around us. Ultimately, it was still a big success, much thanks to all my Siglap team members and Cher Hao (aka James).

It was held at Pasir Ris Park BBQ pit 10, we started collecting everything and everyone from 2.30pm onwards. The event officially ended when we left for home at 11pm. All in all, it was a great day out! A total of 19 guests!!!

Credits goes to, namely, Jeremiah and Timothy for helping to plan the games and food respectively, and their mum for the good marinating for chicken wings, Thaddeus and his mum for all the yummy curry chicken, pasta salad and BBQ equipment. Wei Si, Wei Gin, Amanda and Jere for inviting their friends over, else the BBQ would not be a successful one.

Zi Heng and Thaddeus for being my NTUC shoppers, Abel Koh and Jarel for being my clowns for the night, Thaddeus' lil bro, Matthew, for being a very good chef, aka Boss of Cooking, Jarel and Abel Lim for being my firestarter boys, Cher Hao for being our chauffeur and one of the BBQ chefs for the day =)

We had initially planned 2 games, but only had time for one: Captain's Ball with Water Bombs! It was fun and the response was good. Most of them took part in the game and they were very open to us thru interaction. A door gift was given to them as appreciation for coming, eh its a very ol' skool colourful lollipop, not Chupa Chups lah.

Pray that they will ask our youths more about our church and The Edge service lor. Guys, please help to share to your friends k (: I forgot to tell them that day bcos I too excited lah =X

A big hug to you all! Totally appreciate your help and efforts rendered to sowing into God's kingdom. Dun relax yet ar, our next big event is Sentosa Games in September! Wahahaha~

Some of the many kids at the BBQ pit =)

Last but not least, a pat on my own back =) aka Big Boss, for finally getting things in order and organised in 2 weeks, or rather lesser than that! Hahahaha! Quite tired from all the names-memorising and running around to ensure the BBQ is going on smoothly, w/o any1 feeling neglected.

Thanks be to our Lord God! Without Him, it is definitely impossible to pull this whole event off well. The weather was threatening to rain but with all our prayers, the rain-heavy clouds stayed as interesting art pieces up in the sky.

Anyway, on a really random note, I happened to see this dude in the train, on my way home from class. He was carrying a colourful bunch of flowers, rather tightly. I reckon he wanna surprise some girl for her birthday or to cheer her up with those pretty things lah. So sweet right?

I have no idea what kinda flowers are those, but the colour combination was rather pretty and sweet and I like it!!! -hint hint- Who wanna buy for me??

*How to interpret your Profile Score:

Your highest score indicates your primary love language. Your second highest score indicates your secondary love language. If two scores are identical, you are bilingual (you have two primary love languages). If the scores of your primary and your secondary language are close (for example, 10 & 9 respectfully), it indicates both are important to you. Whatever a significant other does to express love in either of these languages will get emotional points with you.The highest possible score for any language is 12.

Having a clear picture of your primary & secondary love languages will explain much of your past behavior Think back over the past and ask yourself "What have I most often requested from significant others?" Chances are your answer will lie within the scope of your primary & secondary love languages. You have been requesting that which would meet your deepest need for emotional love.

Yeah, the results are quite solidly true, but our love languages tend to change as time goes by,  or when people or events change our perspective towards the way we express our love towards people. Results on 4th July'07

For me, I love spending quality time with my loved ones, especially family and frenz =) Encouraging people is not an easy task, coming from me, but I'm still learning. Physical touch, only from or to people I love.

Acts of service and gifts are not as important to me bcos I dun see it as a core need to show others you care for them =x Of course, each has their own preferences. Share with me your primary and secondary love languages too!

Family Weekend

During the long weekend 2 weeks back, I think it was more of a family time thing. Haha!

We went to NSRCC Safra at Tanah Merah last Saturday, for our quarterly family dinner. You see, we all are so busy sometimes that we dun have much time to dine out together as a family. Sad eh.

So we went to Jumbo Restaurant for a nice seafood dinner. Man, the menu is so expensive and it wasn't filling lor, given that we paid few hundreds for that dinner. Sad to say there's no pics of the food bcos we attacked the food even b4 the camera was whipped outta our pockets.

We did snapped some pics of the live seafood, swimming in the big tanks waiting for their death sentence - so as Papa said lah. So funny. We saw how the chefs caught the lobsters, crayfish, fish and prawns.
Awaiting their death sentence, scaredy fish!

Rather ironically we were laughing at how those lil sea creatures were caught, so that they can enter our hungry tummies when they are out from the kitchen. Yes, we are cruel people.

Very satisfied us =D

Next up, dessert at Häagen-Dazs® at TM!

Oh ya, that family dinner was actually a 3-in-1 occasion thing. Mother's Day, Father's Day and Mama's birthday =) You see, not only coffee are entitled to be 3-in-1 ;p

So Ah Ma has moved house, this time to another part of Jurong West - Taman Jurong (the backside of Jurong).

Since I was born till now, she and my uncle's family have moved around Jurong, just like my family, to date we moved 3 times around Tampines. We are so faithful to our estate eh.

We went to Courts to get a housewarming gift for Ah Ma, and we got her a 32" Samsung LCD TV for only $999. Nice eh.

Since I've been wanting a camera for so long but no1 actually remembered to fulfill my wish, I went to play with the Nikon SLR cameras....

Yes, its for show only, I not that pro leh. Stop laughing can....

On Vesak Day, we headed down to Ah Ma's house for a lil exploring session around, with Wei Wen.

We saw lotsa cats!!

Some caged up birds.....

..... and a noisy lil fat dog.....

Taman Jurong is rather old-school estate style, and it's nice to walk around these old estates once in awhile lor.

Lotsa elderly and..... foreigners living there. Mostly Bangladeshis and China nationals, Malaysians can't compete with them lah. Overall, not safe for us to stay there yet.

Oh, not forgetting the highlight of the day, Ah Ma's new house!

Our lil family portrait :D

As you can see, only my papa is the only male in the pic. 7 other males, both young and slightly older, are missing lor.

Hmm this entry is rather overdue but who cares, it's finally done! Wheeeeeee~!!

NDP Blog Battle Contest!

You sure have grown real fast since you gained independence. Look at you now, you are the 22nd richest country in the world dude! You are fat~~ with loads of money on ya!

So proud of being part of you and I love singing those songs about you. "Five Stars Arising", "We are Singapore", "Stand up for Singapore", "Count on me Singapore", "Pledge Song", "Majulah Singapura", "Chan Mali Chan" and so many more!!!

But I got one sad news for you... No1 really bother to put up your pretty red and white flag, decorated with a crescent and 5 stars, on their HDB flat window ledges anymore. I'm guilty of that too =x Maybe if you gave me tickets for this year's NDP, I'd reconsider =)

Moments of the 1st NDP event was held at Marina Bay - the biggest floating platform in the whole wide world. But I hope this year's NDP will be much better than the last, although I din ballot for any tix to watch it live.

Oh, I'm so looking forward to the fireworks!! Woo hoo~!

p/s: this is an entry for this NDP Blog Battle thing! Kuanyi was part of the team who designed this NDP'08 site! Go check it out lah ;p

Some Quiz

I'm doing a quiz, much "thanks" to Christina, for sabo-ing me.

Rules:
People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blogs and replace any question that they dislike with a new question formulated by themselves. (Darn, I din see this part of the question!)

Tag 8 people to do this quiz & those who are tagged cant refuse. These people must state who they were tagged by and cannot tag the person who they were tagged by.

Ahh.... Cut the nonsense lah! Let's start the quiz then!

#1. If your lover betrayed you, what will your reaction be?
Beat the crap outta him! It's nothing as compared to a beating to my hurt soul lah ):

#2. If you can have a dream to come true, what would it be?
Have my own biz and be so successful that I can open a Swiss bank a/c! Woo hoo~!

#3. What will your dream wedding be like?
Wooo~ A typical nice white wedding, at Chijmes or those gigantic chapels in SG. An overseas wedding photo shoot will be great. Honeymoon to the Maldives or to New Zealand will be fantastic!

What's  a wedding w/o this factor? ...... my awesome hubby lah! DUH!

#4. Are you confused as to what lies ahead of you?
Nah! I'm more of concerned of how much I will earn and live on for the next many years of my working life lor.

#5. What's your ideal lover like?
Tricky question there... that also means, imaginary lover lah!

Ok, must be so shuai* (handsome) as Jesus Christ, loving me unconditionally like Jesus Christ, teaching me new stuff on life like Jesus Christ, so patient and having the Fruit of the Spirit like Jesus Christ and so much MORE!! He's my ideal lover and I am His ideal lover too, I hope ;p

Hahaha! If we are not talking religion here, then I dun say Jesus Christ lah. I dun want people to say I extra, wanna suck up to God and gain more points in Heaven.

You will find out who my ideal lover will be on my wedding day lah! Remember #3, my awesome hubby? HAHAHAHA!!! He should be my ideal lover, else why the heck I wanna marry him right?!

#6. Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone?
Oh, this phrase reminds me of Ying Xi's 5-years-old MSN nick (:

Well, I think its a 50-50 thing, but I personally think that to love someone, is more blessed. As the Bible goes, "It's blessed to give than to receive!". Give your love, spread it all over the place, you'll feel more love!

Okok, I'm getting quite high right now....

#7. What do you see yourself as?
Hmm.. yet another vague and tricky question...

As of now, I see myself as a lion, with a thick mane as my crowning glory. (just got outta bed mah!)

By lunch time, I see myself as a pig, gorging myself silly with my food.

By evening, I'll be a civilised human girl, all dressed up and a presentable face to go out for my dinner appointment with my fellow Starhubbers (:

By night, I'll be a log, all ready to just lie on my bed and not move an inch.

So in summary, I see myself as a retard! :D

What about you?

#8. If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?
Give him up. I dun believe in those TV drama lines, "I'll still persist on, till the day he/she is married!".. That is bullshit, my dears!

Thou shall not covet your neighbour's donkey!

Okok, I mean, dun be so desperate, can?!

#9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Yes, tons~!

Learning driving and realised that I almost died.... I really dun want to mean my ideal lover (see #5) yet lor.

My savings have been crying out loud for replenishments, so am I, for more $$!

Ants crawling on my Mac, when I dun even eat near it. Their bloodstains are staining my white keyboard!

>:( I'm unhappy!

Aiya, I can't recall my unhappy moments anymore lah.

#10. If you had a choice, what kind of family you want to be born into?
Hmm.... The typical TYS* (ten-year series) answer will be, "I wanna be born into a damn rich family! Maybe to Bill Gates..."

As for me, I dun deny that, but I think over the years, I've grown to appreciate my family more and more. Although we are quite shitty occasionally, I think God placed me here in this weird and big family for many reasons lah. Basically, to grow and be more matured and independent! I think it has been working real fine lor.

#11. Is being tagged fun?
Definitely NOT!! Waste my time doing this quiz only. Haiyo!

#12. How do you see yourself in ten years time?
32 years old! Oh my~!!!! That is such a BIG number!

Hmm... a happy woman, with a great godly r/s - marriage, family and (hopefully) an awesome career!

#13. Who are currently the most important people to you?
God and my family, for sure.

Cher Hao :D

Buddies (:

VFC peeps!

Actually, everyone that I can remember in my puny lil brain lah. So long I know your name, that means you are important to m ;p Cheers! Dun feel left out hor.

#14. What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is?
Christina, a very studious lil girl at Cedar Girls.

My disciple, so eager and thirsty to learn more about God.

Matured for her age, very funny, analytical and observant.

#15. Would you rather be single and rich or married but poor?
Oh man, this stupid question again.... Sighs...

Do you want model answers again?

Well, I wanna be.... rich and....... MARRIED!! I dun wanna be an old maid lah!

Seriously, I rather choose the lather.

Jehovah Jireh, my Provider, He will enrich my life with possessions that materials can't satisfy me with! AMEN!

#16. What's the first thing you do every morning?
It varies from day to day. Sometimes I'll do MCQ as to that above-mentioned question.

1. Open my two eyes.
2. Feel for that noisy handphone ringing away, to off the alarm, w/o opening my eyes first!
3. Answer my mum's "breakfast menu question".
4. Feel for that same handphone to check for any messages, w/o opening my eyes first!
5. Answer the phone if got retarded people calling me when I'm still in lalaland.

See, my waking-up life is so awesome right?!

#17. Would you give all in a relationship?
Yeah definitely. I dun believe in flings.

#18. Do you live to love, live to hate or live for the sake of living?
Geez, who's that stupid person who set these questions sia?!!

Well, I live for the sake of living. I earn my bucks to feed my bottomless pit, sleep to ensure I dun get a major breakout, study hard so I can get a good career in the future etc.

Do you NOT agree with me?

#19. What type of friends do you like?
Well, know my friends and you would know what kinda friends I like lor.

Crazy, retarded, funny, at times serious and can tahan me lah, else how to be my friend right?!

#20. What type of friends do you dislike?
Eh, I should say AVOID.

Those hao-lian* (boastful), action aka showoff, boring nerds, clingy aka sticky, smelly (never bathe one), over sensitive - can't take jokes, possessive retards. I think that's all for now lah.

YAY! Finally this darn quiz is done. How do you like my answers eh?

So I'm supposed to sabo 8 of my friends right... ok, here's the list as shown below:
  1. Ying Xi
  2. Joan
  3. Chen Chuan
  4. Alan
  5. Karina
  6. Siu Mei
  7. Rachel Tan
  8. Shirgin
Dun pretend you din see your name ar... go do it now, I'll spot check one hor! LOL!

Friendship Maintenance

How often do you do "maintenance" on your friendships?

Are your friends valuable to you? Do you put in time and effort to know how are they lately etc?

It is good to have regular conversations, be it on MSN, on the phone or sms, or better still meet ups! Little catch ups like this could actually do some emotional work within each other and letting them know the importance and value they have in your life.

Sometimes, when I am free and have time to spare, I will meet friends up for a meal or a drink; be it to crap around, to be a listening ear to them or be the one nagging away. We make an effort to encourage and support each other in times of good and bad. In turn, they do the same to you.

This is a good way to keep friendships alive and I dare say that, sometimes we get so bogged down by personal committments and family matters that we forget about spending time with our friends. The very company that we used to spend fun and happy times, sad and frustrating times together.

There's always a possibility that your friends might feel neglected and unhappy that you are always missing in gatherings but I guess that's why we need friends who are very understanding and patient lor.

This whole "friendship maintenance" thing is a necessity and it is something we can all look forward to do. Without this process, the flame of friendship or a personal human relationship becomes a flicker and eventually dies out, forgetting the very existence of that relationship you and that party took pains to build up over the years.

So, treasure your friends lah! Cheers to my beloved buddies, church youths, Infineon kakis, Starhub pals and to God, my very best friend! -hugs-

p/s: This entry is not directed at any1 in particular, so dun be over-sensitive when you read this. I gathered inspiration from a devotional book hence this entry lor. If you feel abit conscience-pricked while reading this entry, Ah-ha! That mean's you haven't been remembering your friends much lately eh... heehee!

Let There Be Light!

So, Chen Chuan invited me and Amos to Calvary Assembly of God (CAG), for a play called "Tunnel". We din think much about it and only agreed to go watch it bcos Chen Chuan was in the crew.

Synopsis of the play "Tunnel" (click the pic to read it better ;p)

Surprisingly, the play came out to be quite a good and impressive show! The songs, composed by Pastor Daphne, had a tinge of humor and wit yet sadness in them, as the cast sang along during the respective scenes.

The main outline of the play was that, with God we can see light even in the midst of our problems, we can get out of those tunnels of our lives.

The scenes and script were well-produced and we all gave the play two thumbs-up! It is that good to us lah ;p

Chen Chuan did a good job playing as one of those important extras - a NS boy, a demon and a hip-hop dancer. LOL! -pats on CC's back-

He was mentioning that for that NS boy role, he had to sacrifice his long hair as the army helmet could not contain his thick mane. Now he's stuck with that kuku hairstyle for quite some time =D hahaha!

Chen Chuan, Amos and me
Group pic, with all his friends!

This song, Hold My Faith Strong, sung and composed by Pastor Daphne of CAG. She wrote this song in '07 when she was so weary of life's storms and was calling out to God in desperation. Very good and God-inspired song.

Back view

This is what I got from Auntie Julia, as part of VFC Nursery Ministry. We each have a blue apron =\ Hmm frankly, I dun really like the idea of looking like a maid and wearing this weird-looking apron, but Auntie Julia was nice enough to make these as she din want us to dirty our nice clothes while on duty.

You know babies, love to drool and dirty our arms, shoulders, clothes and all. Sighs. Which again, explains the presence of this apron. The saving grace is, someone blessed us with a Winnie the Pooh series of sew-on patches for us to beautify the aprons lor.

I went over to Cher Hao's church last Sunday, Ang Mo Kio Methodist Church (AMKMC). I was introduced to a big handful of people and I was really trying my best to remember all their names. I wrote all down and I doubt I forgot any lah. Hahaha!

They are a fun bunch and very easy-going people. We had Sakae Sushi for lunch together at Thomson Plaza and we were all having fun teasing each other. It feels different to be a visitor of another church and you get to experience the hospitality shown by the church. The follow-up of me being a "newcomer" was rather quick too, rather surprised. Haha!

Darren has finally turned 32 and we had a lil dinner celebration for him at Changi Airport T3 Harry's Bar.

People present: Darren (of course!), Joan, Amos, Danielle, Esther and me (:

The food is rather affordable, actually cheaper than NYDC or Swensens. The serving is alright, but the service can be better. We tried two cocktails there, Mai Tai and Mountain Breeze (a Harry's concoction). Not bad, I like my Mai Tai more though :D

Of course, what's dinner without a beautiful sunset at the airport runway, and we at the viewing gallery munching away our yummy dinner....

Joan did a lil blog entry on Darren's birthday too =) Hahaha! I just kope* (stole) her pics lor ;p

Speaking of sunsets, I saw a rather pleasant orange-y cloudy sunset at Tampines Interchange, few days back. Very nice.

This is taken yesterday at school, while eating my dinner at the pantry there. Look more ordinary though.

Oh, remember that entry I was writing on, about me mugging for my EM paper at T2 Starbucks

Lo and behold, this same inconsiderate "Starbuckers" resident couple is still around, as always,  hogging onto the red sofa!! I reckon the sofa got their smell liao lah! Eeeeeeeks! Even the staff mentioned that they have been there for close for a year!! What nonsense is this???!!!

No home to go back to meh? Changi Airport is not your home leh, you din pay rental nor taxes to live in the airport. If you wanna stay close to the airport, go book a room at the newly-built Crown Royale Hotel opposite T3 lah!

Anyway, I just finished my 3rd driving lesson and I've been making stupid mistakes on the road yesterday. A very good example is, engine stall just right smack at the cross-junction. Darn! You should hear my rap, full of the same word "SHIT" as I restart the engine. Sighs.

I think I got the reckless driver blood in me. I dun like looking at blind spots. I just step on the accelerator pedal and just vroom on the road even though the instructor clearly articulated the words in Chinese, "慢多一点!"* (go slow somemore). I make sharp turns right after I signal (for the sake of signalling) to change lanes. Now I understand why taxi drivers dun like to signal already, its a big chore altogether lah!

I have started to feel the jitters for my driving practical test in August already, dunno can pass anot, judging by my current driving standard. -shake head in disbelief- oh wells, just wanna get this driving stuff done and over asap lah.

It's a warm Saturday afternoon once again and there is a big crowd of birds at the opposite block, making a whole hella a noise there. Illegal gathering lah! Okok, I'm getting bored and hungry, I better stop typing else it'll be a whole list of food cravings liao. Heehee!
