Rihanna Praises Father For Conquering Crack Addiction
R&B singer Rihanna has praised her father Ronald Fenty for overcoming his addiction to crack cocaine. The Umbrella singer, 19, and two brothers Rorrey and Rajad grew up in Barbados watching their father struggle with his drugs demons. Fortunately, he got sober for the sake of his kids.
She tells America's Giant magazine, "I just knew that my mom and dad would always argue when there was a foil paper with an ashtray. He would just go into the bathroom all the time. I didn't know what it was. (But) he knew that to get closer to (his kids), he had to cut that out. And he did."(Starpulse News)
Rapper Kanye West has branded himself the Mel Gibson of the music world - and believes the pair miss out on awards because they are outspoken.
Speaking to MTV, he says, "My favorite movie this year was Apocalypto and I love Mel Gibson. Sometimes I feel a little like Mel Gibson. (People say to him) 'OK, Mel Gibson, we know (your movie is) the best, but if you shut up, maybe we can give you an award.' That's how I think that's how people feel about me sometimes: 'OK, (your album) was the best'.
Apocalypto was the best movie. It's probably some complete bulls--t that got nominated over it. Around the time of the awards, if you want to ask me what's the bulls--t that got nominated, I will tell you. It's my opinion, it doesn't mean it's good or bad. I'm a movie buff."(Starpulse News)
He tells AllHipHop.com, "I think three classic albums are good for me, you know? I got my point across. I was a prominent figure on the West Coast and a bigger figure in hip-hop as a whole. I think I made my impact enough for my name to be said and remembered."
"Right now I'm taking a break from Hip-Hop and enjoying time with my family and my friends." (Starpulse News).
R&B star Ne-Yo starts every album by sorting through a garbage bag of clutter. The So Sick singer/songwriter, who is currently working on Whitney Houston, Britney Spears and Michael Jackson's comeback albums, admits he scribbles down lyrics and song ideas on napkins and then packs them away in rubbish bags.
He explains, "When we first went into the studio to start recording I had this big bag of what looked like garbage, but it was actually little napkins and pieces of paper that I wrote song ideas on from all over the place."

"She's still upset and angry over the Eddie Murphy situation but she's not going to let that stop her getting on with her life.
"Mel believes when you meet someone special you should grab onto it with both hands and do everything you can to make it work and that's what she's doing now with Stephen. "He's also being very supportive through the paternity battle."(Source)
Soul great Aretha Franklin is on a crash diet in a bid to lose weight before her wedding next month. The singer has signed up with Jenny Craig Diet and is limiting herself to 1,750 calories-a-day in an effort to slim down. Aretha Franklin says, "I'm at 1,750 calories a day and I'm starving. You just have to get used to portions and changing your lifestyle." She tells Sister 2 Sister magazine, "I lost 23 or 24 pounds to begin with, but it's kind of a strain when you get to 23 or 24 pounds. That's why I got off of it.
"It's a strain because you're eating the Jenny Craig-type meals, which are very good. But you can only eat them for so long before you want some barbecue ribs or some pigs feet. Once you get off that Jenny Craig thing and you start eating what you've been eating, it's all over."
The star was taken to hospital after collapsing following a strenuous session in the studio, working for four days straight. He thought he was suffering from exhaustion - and was shocked to discover he had meningitis.
Beatz tells MTV,
"My immune system was low from not eating right. But I wasn't paying no attention. I'm going to the crib and I had a hard time getting out of my truck. I get out of the seat and I'm damn near limping. I was barely making it up my steps. I damn near fell in the bed and my wife was like, 'You have to go to the doctor immediately.' They had to carry me downstairs ... got to the hospital, they stuck a needle in my spine. I escaped some s--t.
That changed my life, trust me. I'm happy to be able to run around with my son. Imagine I couldn't even run around with my kids? God gave me one more chance to get my s**t right.

Legendarymusicproducer Quincy Jones has turned down the chance to work on Michael Jackson's comeback album, because he's too busy. He says, "Man please, I've got enough to do. We already did that. I have talked to him about working with him again but I've got too much to do. I've got 900 products. I'm 74 years old. Give me a break." (Source)
