Behind these smiles lie different definitions of happiness.
Have been having lots of random tots recently. so decided to REVIVE this blog to blog down my tots before i grow old. at least theres going to be a "reference section" in my library of life.
anw today alot of things set me thinking---> what happiness really is?
went to catch Money Not Enough 2 with dear. well.. not too bad a movie. very singaporean show. anw it was a touching show, almost cried. really got me to cherish the people ard me more, esp my parents. this show has very well reflects the strength of the different roles that women played, a mother, a wife. NEVER BELITTLE A WOMAN'S STRENGTH!
anyway...
To a parent, happiness might be seeing their children growing up and be successful in their own lives.
To a man, happiness might be seeing his career soaring with a supportive wife taking good care of the family.
To a woman, happiness might be seeing her husband loving and taking care of her, staying loyal by her side after she has given him her whole life since young. (er-hem, hint hint! =p)
To a teenager, happiness might be getting all the fame and attention and all the luxuries he or she can enjoy.
just as these thoughts were still trying to settle themselves after the movie, while i was waiting for dear to buy food at the foodcourt, i saw a man...
He's simply dressed with torned jeans and a yellow rugged Tshirt, carrying a simple brandless blue sling-bag, carrying a plate of mixed rice, walking round the foodcourt trying to find a single seat for himself. He looks like he's from China. anw he walked round n round asking people for a seat, some gave him a cold face and respond. so he walked passed me for 3 times. i just raised my hand to get his attention and signaled to him theres an empty space at my table. He gave a humbled smile and sat down. something caught my attention, his plate...
3 different types of veggie with lots of gravy on his rice.
at that instance, my sympathy goes out to him. can tell that he is trying to save up, trying not to overspend on meals. so he ate his plate of rice silently while i ate my delicious fish soup rice. while he is about to leave, another thing caught my attention. He took out his scotch-taped Nokia 3210 handphone and started sms-ing.
to this man, happiness might be just having a meat on his plate and getting a more stylo handphone with more functions.
after meeting this man, i aborted my "diamond" plan. (wanted to get a diamond necklace which cost abt $400++ as a burfdae gift)
so what would make you happy and satisfied in this world?
