Halloween

Halloween was really fun this year! It was pretty warm and Zak looked awesome. He was planning on being a dead football player then last minute decided to be Troy Palamalu so I ran out and got him a wig. He looked great and loved his costume. We decided to run to my brother John's house to trick or treat with his little family and it was great. There were a lot of kids out and Ash had a great time too. Halloween is always hard cause Zak's dad and I split holidays in half and trick or treating is only a few hours so after about an hour it was time for him to go with his dad. It was fun though and I am happy we had the time together that we did.

When we got home I had some friends show up with their cute kids so that was an awesome surprise.

REAL Salt Lake and soccer

Zak loves sports and really enjoys playing soccer. This year we signed up with the rec center and it was a lot of fun. Zak's team, The Raptors, were undefeated so that was pretty awesome. I am a little bummed they didn't get any recognition for their hard work.

As part of the league the team all got free REAL tickets so Josh and I decided to take him with his team. The players got to walk out on the field but it wasn't as cool as they made it out to be. Oh well. Josh, Zak and I have never been to a REAL game so it was fun to do together.

Annual Pumpkin Carving and dinner

For the last 4 years Josh and I have been hosting a spaghetti dinner and pumpkin carving for our families. We always have a lot of fun and it is fun to see what everyone comes up with. The Newman boys also always start a pumpkin gut war, thank you for taking it outside this year. Also thanks to everyone who showed up.

Black Island Farm

I have not been good at blogging so I am going to catch up for October. We started the month off by going to Black Island Farms. Josh has been working 6 days a week and ten hour days so he really doesn't have a lot of time so this year it was short and sweet. My mom came with us and we spent 1 1/2 hours in the corn maze then went on the trailer ride to the pumpkin patch. Even though it was a short and rushed trip it was still a lot of fun.

Dirty Dash Sept 2011

My family has taken up running, yes, running! I have never been a good runner and am so surprised they have all taken this up together. They signed up for the Dirty Dash and a half marathon in Moab later this month. Zak and I don't love running but thought it would be awesome to do the Dirty Dash as a family. While everyone else runs together 3 times a week Zak and I have been training on our own. We have been walking the dogs the nights Zak is home and doubled our regular walk. Still far from running.

The dash is a 10K but had a 5K shortcut that Zak, Bethany and were going to take then meet up with everyone at the end. It didn't work how we planned and we ended up going the whole 10K, through mud and obstacles! It was exhausting and a lot of work but so so much fun! We can't wait to do it again next year! We ran up hill through the mud, in huge mud holes, 1/2 mile through a swamp with thigh high water and ankle deep mud, over a net and on a rope. It was awesome!!

Summer/Yellowstone 2011

A new state for Zak

I can not believe summer has come and gone. It is my absolute favorite time of year and this one was no exception. Josh mostly worked Monday thru Friday so we were able to do more fun things then the previous summers. We had lots and lots of bbqs, camped, hiked, went to Yellowstone with almost my whole family and tubed down the Provo River.

We weren't able to do a ton during the day since I started watching kids but it was fun just all being together. Josh's littlest brother Cody moved in with us. He is a Senior at Bountiful High School. It has been fun having him around.

Since I have been having so much fun I have not blogged a lot so I will just post a bunch of pics. Yellowstone was way fun and I hope we go again next year. We saw 7 Grizzly bears in our 3 days there and it was a lot of fun camping with my family.
