Happy Anniversary to Us: Aug 2009

Jose surprised me with a fabulous weekend getaway for out 3rd Anniversary.
He secretly packed our bags, and a short trip to check out our new apartment, became a great adventure. He pretended like he was lost as we drove around downtown Portland, and finally decided to ask for directions. However the man he got out to ask, came around the car, opened my door, and helped me out of the car. To my surprise, the man was a dressed up valet from the luxurious Heathman Hotel (check out his outfit!). I started to realize something was up when Jose stopped the car to ask the valet since 1. when do husbands get out of the car to ask for directions? and 2. the man was all dressed up!

We went down to the river and found these cool bikes to rent. We had a blast biking alongside the river and across the bridges. Such a beautiful city to do that in! Then that evening, we went out to look for a place to eat....when Jose surprised me again. He'd reserved us a place on the Portland Spirit Dinner Cruise. The weather was perfect and the cruise was so fun. I love being spoiled:)

The highlight of the trip was the journey back to the hotel after the cruise. We decided to take a ride on a "Pedicart" instead of hiking it back on foot. Unfortunately, we didn't get a photo of this: skinny lil guy, prob early 20s, biking US (we are no light load to carry) with ALL his might up these hills back to the hotel, and answering calls with his cell phone tucked between his ear and shoulder, all the while. At one point he had to stand up and pedal just to try to get one or two inches out of it. We were cracking up laughing the whole time--any one who saw us started laughing and we even heard a passer-by say that they wish they had their camera. To save this poor guy, when we reached our block, we hopped off early since the rest was still uphill, AND since we could get there 10x's faster walking than with him pedaling us!

We had a beautiful Anniversary. Thank you Jose for all the fun memories, I love you!

Summer 2009

Here are some (ok, a lot!) of photos from things we did this summer. The album mainly consists of pictures with Kily's cousins! We've had fun:) If you want to see the pictures in a larger format, click on the picture and it will take you to the actual album.

Jessica's Baptism

A few entries ago, I shared the story of Jessica's Baptism....but I never posted the pics! So, here are a few pictures of the beautiful day when my sister-in-law Jessica joined the Church. She has an amazing testimony of the church and of Christ, and she is such a great example to all she meets.

Airplanes!

Jose LOVES Airplanes :) We went to (well stood at the gate of) the Hillsboro AirShow. It was amazing to see the stunts they do, how low they fly and how loud they are! We had a great time. Jose took a bunch of amazing photos---so I hope I uploaded the right ones. Ever since this day, Kily has been spotting Airplanes daily, from the park, from inside the house, from the car. Wherever she is, she spots them and starts yelling "Airmane! Airmane!"...until she is acknowledged :)

4th Of July 2009

We had a great time spending the 4th of July camping with Jose's sister Jessica's family. It was so cute to see her girls all decked out ready to ride their A.T.V.s. Jose was in heaven to say the least. It was my first time to ever ride one and I actually liked it! My favorite part was riding alongside the coast. The OR coast is breathtaking.

San Antonio Trip!

Before we moved up to Oregon, we were able to take a quick trip down to San Antonio to show Jose my mission. It was a picture perfect weekend. We were able to see many of the people whose friendships I hold so so dear to my heart. I only wish I had had more time! My dear friend Laura and her family were kind enough to host us. It became very obvious that the Lord had guided us there at that time.

One example: There was a beautiful couple I had the privilege to see join the church, however after leaving the area, I couldn't find any way to contact them. I tried the address and phone numbers I had through the passing years, but to no avail. Well, we decided to stop at the home I had last seen them in. By a huge miracle to us, Roberto and Rolanda were at home---but it turned out that they didn't actually live there any more! They had moved several years ago back down to Mexico. They just happened to be in town for the weekend before they traveled back. They were visiting their son who now lives in the home. How amazing that we both traveled back to their home in San Antonio at the same time?! The Lord's hand is in the details.

Enjoy the pics:) I LOVE these people and I LOVED sharing it with Jose!!!!
