Butterfly Anatomy Tutorial

My inspiration for this came from Michael Demengs Strange Angels, I love his assemblage art work and colours

I had acquired a resin torso sculpture and decide to give it a make over and applied a variety of embellishments using DecoArt Media Liquid Glass

Once dry I applied Media White Gesso

Applied a second coat as the original finish was very dark

Applied Media Crackle Paste with a brush to the base and to areas of the torso

 Resulting in fabulous crackle texture

Started by applying DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Quinacridone Gold

Followed by Burnt Umber and Prussian Blue, spritzing the colour and allowing to run until happy withe the coverage

Same process to the base

Stamped with Stazon Midnight and Teal around the base and build up the density of colour
with light brush strokes

Applied Quinacriodone Gold and Prussian Blue to some paper butterflies

DecoArt Birds and Bones

I love the new Andy Skinner Birds and Bones stamps and I had this Tim Holtz Flip Frame, so I decided to goth it up a bit here's what I did

Applied DecoArt crackle paste to a wood frame and then fixed this to the back of the metal frame after applying the chains
Applied two coats of DecoArt Media fluid acrylic and allow to dry

Mix Metallic Silver & Gold and brush lightly to highlight textures and details

Emboss acetate, then apply carbon black wiping back with a dry cloth Fix to the frame
and allow to dry

Stamp and cut out the Skeleton and colour with a wash of Quinacridone Gold and Carbon Black

Stamp and cut the bird, and colour with Phatholo turquoise and Carbon Black Quinacridone gold

Gradually apply Quinacrodone to the rear of the acetate, building the intensity around the edge
Hang the Skelton on the chains and glue the bird to the frame

Happy Halloween!

Applied DecoArt Modelling Paste to the trees with a palette knife texturizing

Applied DecoArt Texture Sand to the Tombstone element

Applied DecoArt Crackle Paste to the house and allowed to dry for 2 hours

Dry brushed with Dark Grey and Medium Grey

Embossed acetate for the apertures and coloured with Alcohol inks, cut to size and glued in place
behind each of these apertures I fixed a fairy light to illuminate
