Clarity Masculine

A real quick project, 1 texture medium, 2 stencils & 3 paints!

I really like the stripe and houses stencils by Clarity Stamps and have wanted to use it for a while
The houses remind me of the cottages in Staithes a place I associate with my father, so I wanted to create a coastal feel on this mini canvas which I will make into a card for him

I used DecoArt Modelling paste with the stripes onto a piece of chipboard
Once dry I stenciled the houses in the centre and faded the texture around the edges and the sky

The houses were lightly covered with Desert storm with titanium white fading upwards for the sky followed A wash of Prussian blue wiped back to reveal the highlights on the houses and sky

Stampotique Anniversary, Wedding and Love

I love the Girl with a heart purse, perfect for this challenge The background was created with DecoArt modelling paste through the Clarity Stamps stripe stencil and applied a layer of paste and let dry then stamped the honeycomb stamp to create more texture

I then applied DecoArt acrylic paint, Dioxazine Purple, Vivid Violet and Lavender and shaded down the canvas Once dry, I dry brushed with Dazzling Metallics Espresso to highlight

Girl with a heart purse was stamped and coloured with Promarkers As were her wings which were made from my heart small and small heart cube

The heart embellishment was made from, paper clay and painted with acyrlics  Dioxazine Purple, Vivid Violet, Claret and Dazzling Metallics Espresso

A Vintage Journey Challenge- Use Every Stamp in a Set!

A Vintage Journey

The Fabulous new Challenge is to use every stamp in a set and my first as part of the Design Team!

A Vintage Dress for my Vintage Journey

I love the Tim Holtz Urban Chic Stamp Set quite a challenge as there are 11 in total, but they do all work together beautifully

I decided to decorate a Polystyrene dress form, started by coating with DecoArt Gesso

The detail on the neck was stamped onto tissue and applied with Deco-Page Matt Finish

Then washed with Quinacridone gold, once dry applied DecoArt One step crackle
Allow to dry and crack for a couple of hours, I then applied Burnt Umber to fill the cracks then wiped away the excess and finished with a layer of Deco-Page Matt Finish

For the Skirt, I folded  2 x 12" x 12" tissue paper, the overlay helped to stiffen
I stamped all of the stamps to form a repeat pattern

Masking out areas with masking fluid that I wanted to keep white
I then coloured with a variety of Dylusions sprays and allowed to dry, this creates a lovely semi translucent feel

Once dry I removed the masking fluid by rubbing gently and then used Quinacridone Gold and Burnt Umber to colour the areas
Once dry, I scored every 1/2" and pleated then joined the two pieces together end to end
This was gathered and pined to the dress form, and finished with a ribbon that was coloured to match using DecoArt So Soft paints

The butterfly wings were stamped using the foliage spring from the set and the larger version cut around and given a Quinacridone gold wash, distressed with Old Paper,Walnut Stain

I distresses the backs with Forest Moss, Walnut Stain & Black Soot

For the dress corset I cut a template to see how to fit it around the dress form, ready to replicate on the finished section

The Corset was stamped onto card using the larger version of the Heart and painted with Quinacridone Gold, Burnt Umber, Quinacridone Burnt Orange and Burgundy and distressed with Walnut Stain and Black Soot
I also applied DecoArt Ones Step crackle to the Heart, once dry applied a little burnt umber and wiped off the excess
The back was created by weaving the stripes alternatively
Thank you for looking, and we look forward to seeing you projects for the challenge
Please pop back to the A Vintage Journey

Day 3 Project

My final project for the blog hop and I needed somewhere to store my lovely Embossing powders and Mica Flakes
I decorated a small ATC book box using the Dress form and Mish mesh stamps

I covered with Gesso and then stamped onto tissue paper and applied with Deco-Page Glue Matt finish

I applied a wash of Quinacridone Gold, heavier around the edges and paler on the interior

Once Dry, I applied DecoArt Crackle Glaze to all external surfaces and then painted over with Burnt Umber and wiped back to reveal the most amazing crackle effect

The inside Cover was done in the same way stamping onto tissue paper
I decorated a button to embellish, painted with Gesso and Burnt Umber, then applied the embossing powder and a little embossing tinsel

The heart was made from UTEE and the Mica Flakes put into a mould made from a pendant, the surround was a piece of burlap distressed with burnt umber

I applied the decorative metal corners and then dry brushed all of the edges with Burnt Umber
then  highlighted with DecoArt Dazzling Metallics Espresso and Glorious Gold

Day 2 Project
This week’s Collaboration and we have been using the fabulous Stampendous Stamps and Stampendous Frantage Embossing Powders and Mica Flakes from the amazing Encrusted Jewel Kits

I decided to do some Home Decor for this project as the stamps are so beautiful, and it was about time I put my hand to some sewing!
I used the stamps with DecoArt So Soft fabric paints, these are cool just like acrylics
I brushed the colours directly onto the stamps randomly and mixed up as I wanted a shaded effect and not one solid colour they dry pretty quick
They are soft, like fabric dyes, but do not require the addition of a medium or heat setting

I used a light weight fabric as I wanted it to fray, then cut roughly into circles and used a wire distressing tool and scissors
These were applied with machine sewing straight, zig zag and some embroidery stitches
I also used a very fine light weight silver grey voile fabric sometimes stitched under the shapes or over the top
Sometimes as overlays in the centre  to create pockets to hold the Frantage Mica flakes I used very tiny stitches on these and stitched around a couple of times to secure
This creates a purely decorative finish and would be wipe clean only

The buttons were made using the same stamps and shrink plastic, stamp them then use a hole punch for the holes before you use the heat tool to shrink! I have a lot with no holes!!

These were coloured with Alcohol inks and hand stitched with embroidery cotton

Thank for hopping over and please check out the others on today's blog hop

Day 1 Project
My first project for the Collaboration uses the fabulous exclusive Nathalie Kalabech Stampendous Stamps and Stampendous Frantage Embossing Powders and Mica Flakes from the amazing Encrusted Jewel Kits

As soon as I saw stamps and amazing embossing and mica colours, I just new that I had to create a Butterfly the colours are so rich and sparkly

I cut the butterfly shape from 300gsm card 3 times and applied each layer with DecoArt Americana Decou-Page Matt Glue and finished with a coat to seal
The butterfly body was made from paper clay and fixed to the card base and then everything coated with gesso

I then applied aprox 1mm of DecoArt modelling paste, and dried with a heat gun until it formed a skin
Then imprinted the Stampendous stamps, this should leave no modelling paste in the stamps, if it does dry more and try again

Once Dry I applied traditions Aquamarine and then areas of Quinacridone Gold and Americana plum

I then applied the Mica Flakes and Powders from Frantage Encrusted Teal Jewel Kit applied with clear stamp ink and Decoart Texture Glass and fused with a heat tool

Then dry brushed with Dazzling Metallic Espresso, Peacock Pearl and Glorious Gold

The frame was covered with loose burlap applied with glue and seal and sealed with gesso

The next layer of torn card was stenciled with modelling paste using the Stencil included in with the Stamps and then coated with gesso

Followed with burnt umber and darkened at the edges with black, then dry brush of DecoArt Dazzling Metallics Espresso and Peacock Pearl

The background was stamped with Decoart Arcylic paint brushed onto the stamps, Aquamarine, Burnt Umber
Once dry I washed with Elegant Finish gold, Quinacridone Gold and Burnt Umber
The edges were distressed with the same colours as the washes

I managed to capture the wonderful sparkle that the powders and Mica Flakes give, I also used Stampendous Vintage embossing Tinsel in Vintage Mahogany which really dazzles!
Thanks for popping over and please check out the others on today's blog hop and leave a comment
