Stampotique Monochromatic

Feedback Friends
I painted an 8" x 8" piece of chipboard with DecoArt Carbon Black acrylic paint
Then applied DecoArt Weathered wood, once dry I applied Titanium white acrylic and waited for the cracks to appear

Once dry, I used a variety of  stencils, Andy Skinners Sunburst, Dylusions Chequered Dots, Studio Calico Circle Graph and Dutch Doobadoo Pop Art
I used vary shades of grey starting with the lightest first gradually getting darker

I stamped Stampotique Friend, and felt that he needed more friends
To achieve the feedback effect, I stamped again onto acetate and scanned
I could then resize the image and duplicate and reprinted onto acetate and overlaid

Journal 52- When I grow Up

I can't remember that I had a specific wish, other than something Creative or associated with Animals.
The first came true, the latter has always been a love

The background was created from a factual using the Frax App
Then I added the silhouettes and printed on watercolours paper

I used a white sharpie to decorate the silhouettes and add the words

Stampotique Challenge Acetate

Claude knew that it was too much catnip that caused him to see the kaleidoscope of cats eyes!

But he was a chilled flying funky flower feline!

I love using Alcohol inks so this was a great excuse to play with them, its amazing to see the effects that are created just by dropping on to each colour

Claude is Roc Nicolas Feline Stamp, coloured with Promarkers and finished with a layer of DecoArt Triple thick gloss glaze wonderful product gives a finish like acetate

So Soft as Silk

My inspiration came from the beautiful Lalique opalescent Glass vases and lights

I wanted the feathers to have softness so opted for a very fine white silk which absorbed the colours beautifully and has a rich luminosity
DecoArt So Soft Fabric Paint colours work on a variety of fabrics, muslin, canvas, interface to name but a few. I’m working on another project using canvas and it stencils perfectly

I placed the silk on a glass cutting mat and spritzed with water stretching it flat
This helps keep the fabric flat by sticking it the Mat and the water allows the paint to soak in and create subtle blended washes

I applied the paint in spots and spritzed with water again and started to blend with vertical brush strokes to ensure that I had a nice blend of colour on the feathers
I used Lamp Black, Brown, Crimson, Tangerine, White, Metallic Renaissance Brown and Luminous Gold, as I wanted to achieve similar colours to a Sparrow Hawks feathers

It's important to work fairly quickly so that the dots of colour are blended in. You can really work the Fabric paint like any acrylic and get some fantastic blends and brush stroke textures
I also used the metallics which give a subtle super fine shimmery lustre

Leave to dry naturally for about 2 hours or zap with a heat tool, I prefer this as it allows you to stretch out any wrinkles, but always stretch in the direction of the brush strokes as the paint is still pliable

Once dry I stamped the Artemio feather directly onto the silk you can use the So soft paint to stamp or a standard ink pad
DecoArt paint is non-flammable and perfect for lampshades, always best to avoid any products that are solvent based if they are near any heat source

Because the silk is fine and adhered to the board it can be cut with a craft knife and finish trimming detail with scissors

I then applied the feathers in rows with a fabric adhesive, mixing up the various colours to create a random effect

I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial, any questions please just ask

Journal 52 Journey, I'm making progress catching up!

Prompt 2 'A Special Place'
I wanted to try watercolours on this one, something I haven't done for about 10 years!
I based it on a photograph of a special place that I have visited regularly from been a teenager, its special for many reasons, but mainly its astounding beauty
I tried to capture the watery beauty and skylight, I need to practice a lot more!
The flowers and reeds were added digitally, but I could have done them either with paints or stamps

Prompt 3 ' Something that makes you Smile'
I love spring and especially lambs, I'm very lucky as we have sheep close by and last year there was an orphan lamb called Olly he would bleat and run to you whenever he saw you, and he loved been cuddled a memory I will treasure for ever!
He's all grown up now and has been kept as a pet, although not as friendly unless you have carrots!
I produced the drawing using a black micron pen on watercolour paper, and tried to capture happy lambs in a spring meadow

Prompt 4 ' Character Building'
I wanted to do something with a favourite holiday picture, as it reminds me of the lovely sunny days ahead!
The image already had the sunflower so I decided to embellish with more floral detail, this was done in Serif Craft Artist, Adobe Photoshop, but the main image manipulation was done using Filterstorm and Pizap effects on the iPad and printed on watercolour paper

Thanks for looking, if you have any questions please just ask :)

Stampotique Art in your Heart

I love the Daniels heart stamp, so I just had to use for this challenge
First I covered a 6" x 6" piece of Tando chip board with DecoArt modelling paste, I dried with a heat tool until it had a skin and then stamped the hearts
Once dry I coloured with Dylusions Ink sprays
Then highlighted was DecoArt Metallic Lustre Iced espresso and then added alcohol Ink to make pinker

The hanging hearts were modelling paste through a stencil I made based on the stamp, put onto muslin fabric and embroidery thread for added texture
This was applied in two layers to get dimension, these were also coloured with ink sprays
The canvas back was muslin coloured with Derwent Inktense sticks, distressed the edges and then glued and turned back over the edge of the front

I put the hanging thread through the back at the top and then adhered the hearts onto the canvas

Stampotique Challenge ‘Winged Things’

'Angel Friend'

The background was produced on watercolour paper with splodges of DecoArt acrylic Dioxazine purple, Lemonade, using a spritzer and left to bleed out
Once dry I stamped the Vintage London stamp skyline

The Angel was made by using DecoArt So Soft fabric paints, Dioxazine purple, True Blue, Avocado, Green Apple, Indian Turquoise and Wisteria.
This was the first time using these so a bit of experimenting for another project too! they are really easy to use and don't require any fixing
I spritzed the fabric with water and brushed to create a wash then stencilled using Dutch Doobadoo faded dots
Once dry I Stamped Stampotique Lovely Wings and Friend then cut out and layered.
The outer wings were done in the same way and then distressed with a scratcher and scissors

I will be also using this as my first page of my ‘Journal52’ project ‘Up, Up and Away’
