Blog changes = Life changes

I am so excited for these new updates in my blog.

As you've seen in one of my previous posts, I've been blogging for eight years. Imagine all the changes I've done?! Countless - some drastic and some are not.

So, now, I've done another huge update.

First, my domain name was changed from www.J-Thinks.com to my real name www.JONAVER.com.

I've been in a long break before I started blogging again and took some income assignments, here and there. But I realized I'm not, and will never be as active, as what I used to. Plus I forgot most of the blogging tricks I used to practice. So, I turn into finding someone who could guide me in maximizing my blog's purpose. Her first advise was to create a brand - something unique and will stand out. So, yes, I think my real name is nothing but a perfect brand for me.

Blogging For Eight Years

I am in the process of updating my blog again because now that I am a work-at-home Mom again (for the most part), I have more time to write a post regularly. When I say I am updating, it doesn't only mean putting up a new post, but I am overhauling my entire blog - changing the design, logo, name (maybe), and cleaning up some old posts.

Browsing through my old posts will probably take me the longest because, I just realized, I've had close to 600 posts with 8 years of blogging (not counting the drafts that I haven't published yet). There was a hiatus but I still revisit and check with my visitors from here and there.


I can't believe it's been eight years since I decided to brave through the world wide web with my opinions, open my life, share my ideas, and actually earned from it at some point.

Yes, I'm Back!

Wow! It has been a long time since I blogged. My last post here was on October 04, 2009. I didn't expect that I'll be back again but something pushed me on going back.

The reason why I stopped blogging is I got a full time job so I didn't have much time to spent typing and making a post here. I decided that I'd rather spend my time off from work with my family, cos since I got a full time job, the time I spent has become lesser. But now that I'm back, that doesn't mean that I won't have time for them. I'll make sure that I give them enough time first before my blogging.

Why I'm back? Because I needed more money to buy something I want and it's a little bit more expensive than what I usually want and I wanted it quick. I just hope that I'd be as lucky as what I was last year in receiving assignments from sponsors.

So I guess I'll be meeting my cyber friends around then. I hope you missed me :P ... To the sponsors, I'm ready!!! Give me assignments now, PLEASE... ;D

Kinda new blog

I got couple of new things today. First, I'm back to blogging again. I know, I know, I said that before too but I never did. I actually did but not for long. Now I'll try to stick to it for one reason, I just realized what should I already have if I never did stop blogging. I realized that yesterday when I was browsing on other blogs and saw the money making resources now and how much they've been earning from it. So, yes I wanna earn money online again.

Then second new thing, I got a kinda new blog. It's not really new it's the same old Money-making blog I have, only that it has a new name and domain. The www.moneyjona.info is now www.KAYOD.info. It's the same topic but I'll try to focus more on online money making resources. So, yes I'm in search of sites where we can all earn money again. Wish me luck!

Hey! I'm Alive and Kicking and Got something good to share

Yay! I'm back after being gone for awhile, AGAIN. Well, I guess that would always be the case now but I'm glad cos now each time I come back to blog, I got something good to blog about and not just putting up some fillers, paid post, etc. Though I was sadden about being kicked out by PPP a few months ago but I have moved on and saw the good side of it -- no filler post, not being stressed of catching max opps everyday, and I get to spend more time with my family. Toddlers in Tiaras Comment

I don't know how to start this, but here goes.

Today, I received a comment on my post Toddlers in Tiaras on my other blog, Starts at Two. The post is about my opinion about babies/kids that joins pageants cos I can relate to them cos I have been into pageants when I was just a kid too. And here is RossiPosse13's comment.

I don't see how you can sit here and tell everyone that beauty pageants are good, when they are honestly not. If a child is exposed to that much sexual behavior that has a good chance in encouraging that behavior for the rest of their lives. Child beauty pageants may also lead to depression or an eating disorder. And another thing, it can cause you a child to miss a lot of school and have such grammar problems as you. That is what beauty pageants did for you.

She/He made a point, actually. I'm not mad or anything about her comment but I actually find a way to further explain myself regarding my post. My post is just all about my own opinion but I can't believe how this commenter can give me such an insult. Anyway, I suggest that you read the post and tell me if there was a point I said that y'all put your child in pageants. Yes, I said it was good, in a way, which is true with what I've experienced cos again, I've joined pageants before and I never experienced the problems that she/he mentioned, except for the grammar problems though cos English is not my first language and I'd admit I have a few grammar lapses. But it's not about the grammar, it's the way she took my freedom of speech.

So, let me say this to ALL THE COMMENTERS out there, let's respect the author/blogger. If you can't say anything nice, just don't post your comment cos seeing a comment like this really hurts for someone being commented on. This is my first time receiving this kind of comment though and I don't know how big these kind of comments in the blogosphere. In my own opinion, bloggers are entitled to their own opinion and they don't violate any law as long as they're not saying anything against anything or anyone.

Alive and Kicking

Yes, I am alive and kicking now! I am not fully well yet but I'm feeling better. Thanks to hubby's love, comfort, and support. I really felt safe when he's around.

Back in Blogging

I know, I have been gone for quite a while from blogging. Not being able to blog for couple of days makes me feel really bad. I was just so attached to an online game and me and my husband both loves to play, Ticket To Ride from Days of Wonders. We already have a board game of that game though but we're not satisfied with it. We love playing online cos we can play with more people than just the two of us, so it's more challenging. Really, that's the only think that's keeping me away from blogging.

But, i'll try to blog more regularly now though. Much more now that the PR of this blog had went back to big fat zero, sigh.

Anyway, good luck to Steelers and Cardinals for playing in Super Bowl right at this very moment. Hubby is a Steelers fan and so I'm their fan now too.

I can't imagine life without GOOGLE

When I first heard about Google, which was, of course, a few years ago, I thought that it is just another search engine, competitor of Yahoo, but as I've spent more and more time with surfing the net and all, I've realized that the Internet wouldn't be the same if Google didn't exist. Would you agree?

I already knew this before, but just couple of weeks ago, I found out how much more I can do with Google. It's not just a normal search engine, Google is everything you can ask for ONLINE. There's E-mail (Gmail), Blogging (Blogger), Instant Messaging (Google Talk), Business (Google Checkout), Advertising (Adsense), Documenting (Google Docs), and a lot lot more. Oh trust me, I've been using Google products more than what I've mentioned and they just made my online endeavor so much easier.

It was actually, Google Docs that made me realized all the importance of Google cos since the computer that I'm using which is my sis-in-law's doesn't have Microsoft Office, and I needed to use Excel and Word. But guess what, Google Docs has online version of Microsoft Office. So so so cool! Now, I'm doing my inventory and all about my business online, without having to worry about having Microsoft Office in any computer that I'm using. I wish I should've known that way too long ago.

With iGoogle as my homepage, I can easily be updated with my favorite websites and with the weather here and my home country, Philippines. It's very easy, as in, it's just one click away.

Oh, I can't say too much wonderful words about Google, I just love using it and I can never imagine my online life without it. Thanks G! :-)

Maintaining a website or blog is never easy in comes to SEO - Search Engine Optimization. Though SEO shouldn't be that important for someone who is maintaining just a personal blog like me but I am concern about it because I don't want to be the only one reading my posts. The main reason why I blog, and I guess most bloggers do, is to express my thoughts and ideas and try to inspire some people who can relate to me all around the globe. And how to do that? There are lots of ways to boost SEO of one's sites. In fact, you can simply type the SEO keyword on your Google Search bar and you can see the list of good articles that talks about SEO. I have read a few articles and did their suggestions, that is why I was able to maintain my Page Rank since I got it last October.

The easiest I know though to boost your site's SEO is to submit articles. But you don't just submit articles, you need to submit GOOD articles. Something that would entice the readers to read more of your articles because that's the main way for SEO, to have good contents. The readers would search for articles in an article directory and if you submitted good article, more and more would want to read it and everything would follow.

Article submission is very easy as long as you know that you can publish good articles and it is one of the effective ways to generate SEO.

Back to EC dropping

Finally, after a few months of being an inactive EC dropper, I've decided to drop some EC love on my droppers for the month of December. I have been inactive, because first, I don't have decent PC to use right now. Our laptop is still not working properly and we just can't afford to get a new one for now. That's why I am using my sister-in-law's computer which is the slowest computer I've ever used in my entire life. For some reason, her computer loads really slow and so each time I'll go to a page and drop some card, it'll take me a few minutes to see the EC gadget. It's just losing my patience each time I try. But, late this afternoon, I felt like dropping.

I'd like to thank those people who keeps dropping EC on my site(s) even if they don't receive a drop back from me and I am really sorry for that. That's why when I did my dropping earlier, I prioritize those who are in my Drop Inbox 'cos I really owe 'em alot.

Taking a Holiday Break

Happy Holidays To All!

I'll be taking a Holiday break so you won't see updates in all of my blogs until Saturday. But, let me take this opportunity in letting you all know that I am maintaining six blogs now. Wheewww! I never thought I'll have that number of blogs. I know there are more blogger out there who has more blogs than me, but honestly, I am having hard time now to update all of 'em. Check Your Blog Page Speed

One of the most important thing to consider in getting more traffic is the speed of your page because when your page loads slowly, your visitor will leave your page before they even view your content. So, you need to make sure that before your visitor leave (or not even letting them leave), they know how interesting your page is by knowing your content.

Earlier, I checked my blog's speed using Stopwatch that is recommended by blogger. I was so shocked and disappointed that my page took more than 5 minutes to load. So, I deleted some widgets that I don't really need and reduced the blog posts displayed. I ran Stopwatch again and guess what? My page loaded completely in 13 seconds.

The following are some things that may cause your page's speed to load slowly:

Number of posts displayed
My page used to have 10 posts displayed and I lowered it down to 6 which helped a lot. Yeah, I can relate to you when you say that you wanted to show a lot of posts to attract your readers. If your readers are patient enough to wait for your page to load, that's one thing but take note that most readers are not like that. So, just make sure that you always have an interesting topic posted which is always the key to more readers and traffic.

Widgets
I think this is the most common one. Don't put too much widget on your sidebar. Normally, it helps a lot if you put your widgets on the bottom of the page. But I won't suggest that. I'd suggest that you select the best widgets that you needed the most and beneficial to your blog and reader.

Media content
True that we need to put some images and videos on our pages to attract visitors, but again, don't overdo it. You may put a thumbnail of an image then provide a link to the exact size of it. Basically, you can still post image and video but have it smaller so that it won't affect your page's speed that much.

If you are worried that your page loads slowly, then you need to clean up your pages. You can run Stopwatch for you to know which widget takes a lot of time to load or is causing your page to load slowly.

I'm pre-occupied as of the moment

Yes, I'm pre-occupied as of the moment. I have been very busy transferring and tweaking our website, Love In Distance. I just got very excited because finally, I was able to make use of the domain andyjona.com that I bought last June. Oh yeah, FINALLY! Dumb me, I just realize that GoDaddy has a Free Hosting for every domain you buy from them. So, now, I made use of that free hosting. Though, I am looking at the paid hosting too but I just can't afford it for now. Better make more money online first before I invest for another site.

Anyway, though the hosting I have now for our website is free, I am still enjoying it because I can do a lot of things there. Now, I have added a Forum page. I am still working on it though. I am not an expert about it, but I am learning. I helped a few Filipinas in their visa processing. Though I didn't do a lot for them, but I am trying my best to answer each question they have since I already experienced the same process. Hopefully, with the forum, more Filipinas who already went through the same process would be able to help other Filipinas who are planning to get their visa to be united with their loved one here in the US. And at the same time, we would be able to socialize online because we all have something in common, married to a US citizen.

I also transferred my Love In Distance ~ Blog to Blogspot so that I can easily (hopefully!) update it since most of my blogs are in Blogspot now. Only one is hosted by Wordpress actually. And thanks to BTemplates again for the Free Template. I like it so much! Now, 3 of my blogs got their templates from them. They are all so awesome.

Now, my concern is, how am I be able to keep all my sites up. Actually, my online addiction is driving me nuts. But I can't help myself. I really love to blog, make sites, explore the net, etc. If only I always have enough time. But a Mom like me? Nah...I will still do the best that I can though to be an active blogger and take care of my family at the same time.

Very Late Breakfast

It's exactly 12:10 here right now and I am still preparing my breakfast. Why? Because I woke up at 10:30 AM. Lazy bum, I know I am. But I keep having hard time going to sleep at night. I'd normally dozed off at around 1:00-2:00 AM, that's why I usually get up very late in the morning.

Anyway, I'm having bacon, egg, and RICE!! Yippee! It's been a while since I had rice. It seems that I already got used to not having rice. People here in the US are not really that big on rice, especially my hubby who's diabetic. He's trying to lessen his carb intake as much as possible and I am very willing to support him with that. It's a way for me to keep myself from diabetes too since I can be prone to it coz diabetes runs in my Mom's side of the family. In fact, my grandfather died from diabetes.

Almost done cleaning the house

I am exhausted! But I am not done yet, almost done though.

There's not much cleaning we actually need to do at the house because it is just a small house. But what tire me up the most is picking each toys (Abi's and the cats') because they are scattered all over the house. Some are underneath the appliances. Imagine doing sit-ups and squats 300 times at the same time. Picking up those toys all over the house are like doing those exercises.

Now, I am really tired but still kept on blogging (lol).
