Why Is Benjamin So Happy???

Because he slept from 7:15pm last night until 8:30am this morning. (With one minor wake up moment at 5 am where I gave him a bottle and he went right back to sleep).

I don't know who is happier about that- Benjamin or his parents. It was nice to sleep in until 8am this morning and then have a half hour to do whatever before he woke up and demanded attention and breakfast. Now if I could have just gotten my butt out of bed before 8, then I could have gotten a lot more done. But oh well, I'm pregnant, I need my sleep more than a clean house :)

Benjamin's New Smile

On Saturday we went grocery shopping and while we were there Jonathan caved in and bought Benjamin a $1.00 toy from the toy aisle. It's this stick that makes funny noises when you shake it. I don't have pictures of Benjamin playing with it because it's still in the car, but Benjamin loves it. He thinks the sounds coming from it are so funny. Ever since we bought that toy he has been making this new smile/laugh face that is just adorable and absolutely hilarious. He squints his eyes closed and opens his mouth really big- sometimes he sticks out his tongue but mostly he just has this big open mouth. He does it whenever he does or sees something that he likes or when he's proud of himself for doing something- like throwing the apple slice I just gave him into the trash can. This morning we were able to finally get a couple pictures of his new smile while he was in the bath.

Elmo's World

I found the camera!

Here are some cute pictures of Benjamin watching Elmo's World. He has to be sitting in his Elmo chair and holding one of two Elmos- either the Tickle Me Elmo in these pictures or the little Elmo that is usually in the diaper bag. Benjamin is just like his dad- when he's watching something on TV, don't bother him unless it's absolutely necessary!

I love how Benjamin puts his little arm around Elmo's shoulders and cuddles with him.

For those of you who don't know, Elmo's world is the last 15-20 minutes of Sesame Street. It's a lot more simplified than the rest of Sesame Street so Benjamin understands quite a bit of it. Yesterday Elmo was learning about balls and the fun games you can play with them. Benjamin went right for his toy box after the show and grabbed his football and wanted to play.

Seriously?!

I heard on the news this morning that airline flights were going to skyrocket in price over the next few weeks and it reminded me that I needed to start looking for flights to California for Thanksgiving. So I jumped online and started looking around. Southwest isn't taking reservations for November yet, so I jumped over to Jet Blue. Are you frickin' kidding me? 2 adult roundtrip tickets from Salt Lake to San Jose... over $800! We'll drive if that's what it is going to cost us. We were worried about gas prices, but $800!!!

So I thought, this has to be crazy. We can fly cheaper than that. At this point though, I was thinking $600 would be an awesome deal. My next stop was Delta. I put in a few dates and it came back with $169 a ticket. So I thought, that's probably the best I'm going to find and I can deal with $300 for each of our tickets. We'd probably spend at least $300 in gas. Not to mention food, a hotel room if we decide to drive only halfway each day, etc. $600 is a lot of money, but we needed to stimulate the economy with the money we just got back from the government anyway.

I filled out everything and then checked out the total for two tickets... $338. Huh, what?! I was expecting that much per person, not total. I double checked everything and that was the total for 2 adult tickets, round trip. So I went back and double checked a third, and fourth, and fifth time. That's when I noticed I had originally misread the ticket price. It wasn't $169 each way like I thought, it was $169 ROUND TRIP each person. WOO HOO!!!

5 Simple Pleasures

I was tagged by my friend Rebecca so here goes...

1. Feeling the new baby inside me move and wiggle and stretch. I never get tired of watching him kick and squirm.

2. Laying in bed with Jonathan while Benjamin crawls and plays over us.

3. When Benjamin puts his head on my shoulder and makes this happy sighing sound right before I put him down to sleep.

4. Singing "If you're happy and you know it..." with Benjamin and seeing him giggle whenever I come up with something new for him to do (tap your head, tickle daddy, etc)

5. "Date Night"once a week. We usually take Benjamin with us, but it is still nice to go out to eat and not have to worry about dishes and cleaning up the kitchen. Plus waiting for our food to arrive after ordering gives us a chance to just talk for a little while.

Now for my turn to tag someone- I don't even know who reads my blog so I tag the last three people who made comments... Christa (because you haven't done it yet!), Morgan, and Kaylynn. Have fun ladies!

We've Moved!!!

This is just a quick post to let everyone know that we moved this past weekend. We've been crazy busy obviously but somehow are getting things back to normal. We've met some neighbors and some families in our new ward and it looks like we're going to like it here. Benjamin loves having so many kids around and it's nice to have a big grassy area and playset right in front of our new apartment. The third bedroom is coming in handy too as an office/scrapbooking room. I may not be willing to give it up to the new baby in a couple months :) We'll have pictures as soon as I find the camera in some box somewhere...oh, we're having so much fun!

Who Knew Baby Wipes Could Be So Fun?

On Sunday we were driving to Layton to visit my in-laws and Jonathan gave Benjamin a piece of a pop tart. Uh... not a good idea in the car. Benjamin made a big sticky mess all over his hands and face. He doesn't like to have his hands or face washed, but he likes to wipe his own face. So I gave him 2 baby wipes and then finished my phone conversation with my mom. When I turned back around this is what I found- What a funny little guy!

He played with the baby wipes for about 10 minutes. I guess little boys will do anything to keep themselves entertained during an hour long car ride!

Spotlight on Me!

So every week at church in Relief Society we have a "spotlight" on one of the women in our ward. We've been doing it for a long time now, but lately they started having the woman herself get up and share things about herself. And then at the end she draws another name out of a bag and that is the "spotlight" for the next week. Well, my name was picked last week- just in time too because today is our last Sunday before we move. So I thought it would be fun to post here what I put in the basket to take and share about me.

First of all, pretty much anything cool that I have is packed away. So that's my disclaimer on why my basket was pretty lame.

The first thing I put in the basket was the latest scrapbook page I finished. Anyone who knows anything about me knows that I love to get my hands messy with creative outlets... and scrapbooking is my number one choice of outlet. I can't wait to unpack all my scrapbook stuff again...

I love children's books. The simple pictures and stories are fun for me. (Simple minds, simple pleasures?) I especially love cuddling up with Benjamin and reading books.

I love to watch movies, either at home or at a theater. Especially when some sort of sugary treat is involved. This movie is especially good by the way. Jonathan even liked it enough to agree to buy it (he NEVER wants to buy DVDs). It's called Stardust- Robert DeNiro is hilarious in it.

I love to read. It's my favorite relaxing, needing my own time, escaping from the world of responsibilites thing to do. This book was pretty good, it's the story behind how Peter Pan became Peter Pan of Neverland. It's called Peter and the Starcatchers.

I work at Investools in the Cancellations/Refunds Department. I actually started in Customer Service on the phones but have moved my way from that to the Resolutions Team and now to Cancellations. It is a wonderful company to work for and they treat us so well. Best part is that I get to work from home so I can stay with Benjamin all day. Lovin' it!

I love to play games with friends and family. What a great way to get to know people!

At this point I showed Jonathan everything that I had collected and mentioned that I felt like a big part of me was missing. His response- "well, you do like math and are very organized." Umm... thanks, honey. I didn't really want to broadcast my nerdy side, but here goes anyway...
I jammed The Binder into the basket. I keep EVERYTHING in here. Bills, phone
lists and addresses, weekly menus, cleaning checklists, To Do lists... everything. I love it. Especially when Jonathan asks where's that paper he needs or the ward phone directory? My smug answer: "The Binder."
I added my calculator because I do like math. Good thing I get to do math everyday for my job. One of my favorite things to do is price groceries and household items by ounce or unit of some kind. Especially when you throw in coupons and sale prices. Who doesn't love knowing you spent $0.12 per 12 oz bottle of water instead of $0.68 each?
Seriously, nerdy and lame. I can't believe I'm admitting these things. Jonathan must be so embarroussed.

Happy Mothers Day!

I was all excited about adding a video to the e-card Benjamin and I were sending to my mom in California this morning- but then Benjamin had his own ideas about how the video was going to go... Check out the finished product!

And Happy Mothers' Day to all you mothers and mothers-to-be out there!

Baby Belly

People have been asking to see a picture of my baby belly, so here it is! This is me in all my 24 1/2 week glory! I wonder how much bigger I'm going to get in the 15 weeks left?!

This is not the greatest picture of me. I was just about to walk out the door to go to class when I remembered that I needed to take a picture of my belly. I wanted to make sure to take a picture while I was actually dressed and looking presentable :)
