Benjamin is getting so big! He just turned 5 months old this past Monday. He loves to "stand" on your lap and look around. He gets a big kick out of being flown through the air. He is laughing a lot more now and is a very happy baby. Yesterday Benjamin woke up about 6:00 am and just laid in his crib talking to himself for 30 minutes. It was fun for Jonathan and I to listen to him through our baby monitor. When I finally got out of bed and went to get Benjamin, he smiled really big and laughed. He's a good boy and seems to be really happy... which makes his mom and dad happy too!
This past week Benjamin has started holding his own bottle! He still has some trouble keeping it straight and he has to use 2 hands, but he's doing it! We're planning on starting him on solids tonight. Most people give their babies cereal first, but we want to start Benjamin on vegetables. We want him to like the vegetables before we give him the sweet tasting fruits. And the cereal just seems so bland to me. So tonight he'll get his first taste of sweet potatoes, and in a few days he'll get to try some carrots. Mmmmm.... ps- I'm sure we'll get lots of pictures of him trying to eat for the first time and we'll definitely post them next week.
(I know, I know... Benjamin is laying on a pink blanket. But I was babysitting my friend's daughter Addison and both of them were playing on her blanket at the time I gave Benjamin this bottle and took a picture of him holding it.)
Well, on Saturday Jonathan and I took Benjamin to Cabella's to get Jonathan's fathers day gifts. If you've never been, Cabella's has a giant fish tank full of HUGE fish... some of these rainbow trout are bigger than Benjamin and weigh twice as much. We got there in time to see them feed the fish. It was cool to see them eat a bunch of little goldfish. I liked watching the goldfish try to hide in the rocks, but Jonathan liked seeing the bigger fish go after the little ones and eat them in one bite. This was Benjamin's second trip to see these fish, and he was just as fascinated with them this time as he was the first time. You can kinda see the fish in this picture...
Jonathan and Rob went fishing again last night at Jordanelle Resevoir. They caught some pretty good sized fish, but I only have room to post one picture:
That's about it for this time. Next week we'll have some good pictures and stories, I'm sure! Benjamin will have his first couple experiences with solid foods, my brother Tyler is getting married on Friday, and we'll be going to St George on Saturday for the Reception and spending a couple extra days there so Jonathan can go fishing and we can spend some time with my family from California (notice I said "so Jonathan can go fishing" first...he he he). Love you all!!!
