Only in Hawaii...

and well maybe in other parts of the world I'm not familiar with..but certainly not in the rest of the States...would you find sashimi being served at a grade school graduation. And yes that is my nephew chowing down on it.

Here is what else was on the menu that night...the noodles are quite good as well as the orange chicken (like Panda Express)All the kids like that. The little egg was a quail egg... I think..I'll have to ask my mom again who asked the catering company. Not something I have ever seen here.

My nephew, Nakana, is the one doing shaka...

Very popular here at graduation time is to buy your graduate a toobie to wear as well as leis. The toobies are fun because all your friends sign them.

Some of the entertainment..she was a very good little dancer. The kids were all screaming like she was a rock star..it was so cute! I think they could relate to her so much because she was their age.

Then they played some tahitian drums and all the kids got up and just shook thier boodies like there was no tomorrow..what a blast! The dance floor was packed!

Hawaiian Preschool Graduation

Friday I attended my nephew Nakoa's preschool graduation ceremony. I've never been to one as my son was homeschooled. It was adorable! They all sang their little songs and did their hula hand motions. The boys in surf shorts and the girls in bathing suit tops and sarongs. I don't have any of the pictures since my sis asked if I would take some on her camera (super nice professional camera..she's a wedding/portrait photographer..I'm just glad I didn't break it!)since she had to do some video taping and run the slide show.

I have this one of my nephew though...my mom took it

before the kids came out my sis in law Charme sang to the guitar playing of her brother in law Wayne while her mom Auntie Val danced a couple hulas. Charme is one of the preschool teachers there. She's gonna have another baby..so I'm gonna be an auntie again :) She knows what she is having...even her assistant knows but she won't tell any of the family yet..she's such a stinker messing with us like that.

Gift Idea for Teachers

Yesterday a friend came by to look at jewelry for teachers gifts and a graduation gift. She picked out some really pretty matching bracelet and earring sets as well as some earrings for herself and some supercool earrings for a graduation present.

Her order ready to be picked up. I gave her extra raffia so that she could tie it onto the boxes later. If I did it now..she wouldn't know who's is who's ;-)

As we end another school year many with children find it a good time to show appreciation to the hard working teachers in their lives. Would you like to show your child's teacher how much you appreciate her? Most teachers love arts and crafts hand crafted beaded jewelry being a favorite. Teachers are some of my best customers! And how much more awesome would it be to purchase handmade beaded jewelry from Maui :)
