Jace the Great!

I spoke too soon on my last post. Jace had recently undergone a little man-surgery and I had consumed dairy products, both making him more irritable. Since he's recovered Jace is back to sleeping well and is happy a good part of the time. I have to say that he has some impressive projectile vomiting skills. He has managed to soak me on multiple occasions. Overall Jace is a great baby!
Amelia is growing up way too fast and having a new baby makes her seem even older. She is talking up a storm and often repeats herself until we acknowledge her. Our ears burn every time she says "frog" because it sounds like she's dropping an "F" bomb, and since she likes to repeat herself we often get an ear full. She loves to play outside and finds rocks and dirt fascinating. Amelia is quite the explorer!

Twice the Fun

I am hanging out on the computer, enjoying a few quiet moments, instead of doing something productive. Amelia has gone to bed and waking Jace has been impossible for the last few hours. Seems it will be another long night when he finally decides to be conscious. Last night he decided to stay awake until close to midnight, took a brief 30 minute nap, and was up again. He did great sleeping when we first brought him home. Now it seems he has his days and nights mixed up. Oh well, we knew it couldn't be that easy:) Jace is growing great, a full pound above birth weight by two weeks old.
Having two kids has been quite the new challenge. I think we'd be sitting pretty if we only had Jace. We could sleep whenever he does, etc. Amelia is actually adjusting pretty well, thanks to Grammie and Dad. It's twice the fun to do ANYTHING...cook dinner, take a shower, leave the house with these two. My mom gave me great advice when she said it takes twice as long to do anything or go anywhere when you have two kids. Thanks Mom! You've saved me tons of stress! All in all I think the hardest thing has been giving each kid the attention they need, when they need it. But, we're learning and maybe we'll get it down before we have another (not for a long, long time mind you!).
Here's to twice the love!

Name

Sorry to all those still waiting for baby's name! I didn't realize we hadn't posted it :) His name is Jace Louis Tyler. We ended up coming back to our original first name and changing the middle name. Jono wanted to call him "Lou" for Lou Gehrig, being the baseball nut he is :) And Jace is actually Hebrew, believe it or not. So that's that!

Baby Update

We are now officially term!!! I am so excited that we've made it this far that I almost don't mind if he stays in there. Almost. Things are looking good. None of the ugly problems we faced with Amelia have reared their heads. Little boy, still nameless, seems to prefer the head up position...not very conducive to a "normal" birth. We're hoping he'll turn his way south. If not, no big deal. He will be here one way or another by the 19th! 13 days!!! Ok, I'm just a little excited.

The Final Countdown

Lately the blog has become more about me and pregnancy. Sorry to anyone who reads it :) Amelia, my Mom and I were at my OB's office last week, enjoying a nice, unusually long wait. Then the doc was in and out in a whirlwind, also unusual, and I was left a little stunned. First, he said time to start coming to the office twice a week for NST's, check-ups, and ultrasounds. I knew that was coming at some point, but already!? Wow. Next, he threw the curveball..."and the current recommendation (given my history with Amelia) is to deliver at 38 weeks." Holy cow!!!! I didn't even know what to think or say. I mean, I haven't fully expected to make 40 weeks, but it was the goal. To have 2 weeks suddenly stripped away from my "countdown" left me reeling. So, now we are coping with the fact that we have approximately 6 weeks until the little man is here and trying to hang on, especially over the next month while I work full time and have twice-weekly visits to the office.
I'm happy to report that baby is good, and I'm feeling decent. Hope everything continues so we can hit 38 wks :)
In other news, Amelia is transitioning to her toddler bed. At first it was a big game. She'd run, jump in bed, smile, say "ni-night" and act as if she was going to sleep. Then Mom or Dad would leave the room and she would shortly follow, either running at full speed and giggling and tip-toeing and grinning. We tried the keep putting her back method, only to fail miserably. So far we've had to let her fall asleep on the couch or in bed with us and then move her. She's done a fair job at staying in bed all night, though we've had many more middle of the night wake-ups and early mornings. I think she's trying to prep us for having a newborn again :)
