Halloween 2011

We started off our Halloween fun this weekend by decorating our pumpkins.  We carved one pumpkin so we could roast the pumpkin seeds and let Olivia paint the rest.  She thought this was great! Olivia's work of art. Jon doing the dirty work :) Olivia insisted she wanted to wear a Mickey Mouse costume this year.  And she even thought it was a good idea to make Clara Minnie!  Our cute little Minnie Mouse :) Ready to get some treats! Here mom...I will give you my best scary face. and cute face. Olivia and Clara's cousins - Willa and Avyn - came over to trick-or-treat and show us their costumes.  They were so cute I couldn't choose just one picture. Clara seemed to love Avyn's parrot costume! Olivia and Willa eating some treats. We love our Little (or big) Pumpkin

Engbers Update

Here are tiny little updates on what has been happening in our lives: Jon ~ Working on a community health rotation right now which involves working in the jail clinic, community health clinic, center for family medicine clinic, and visiting various community health resources. Erin ~ Trying to catch up on the girls' photo books at the moment.  Still spending lots of time entertaining Olivia and trying to get Clara to sleep :) Olivia ~ Loving school.  Always on the go...seriously she is non-stop from the time she gets up until she goes to bed.  Smart and strong-willed are two words that describe her right now! Clara ~ Happy baby, Horrible sleeper!  Rolling over and imitating sounds right now.  Her favorite solid foods so far are sweet potatoes and bananas.

Pumpkin Day

As you may be able to tell from the not-so-active blogging, we have a small child who does not like to sleep in her crib, causing much of my "free time" to be spent in the rocking chair with her :)  But I did want to share a few pictures that I got off my camera this week. ~Olivia had Pumpkin Day at preschool on Thursday and I was able to volunteer in her classroom and spend the morning with her.  We both had lots of fun. Painting her pumpkin. Eating pumpkin pancakes. She got right up when she was finished and threw away her garbage :) Olivia also was the special helper for the day which meant she got to be line leader, dress the weather bear, lead prayer with Mrs. Korn, and bring snack - pumpkin cookies! Olivia LOVES circle time! ...and snack time! Another fun activity they did was decorate gords.  Olivia's is in the green one in the back with the orange and yellow feathers. Clara loves to be outside and she ca...

Kite Flying and other Adventures

Olivia has asked more than once this summer if she could try flying a kite.  So last week we purchased her first kite and brought it over to grandpa and grandma Engbers to try it out! Olivia holding her kite all by herself and hanging on tight. Dad and Uncle Nick helping get the kite to fly. Clara hanging out by Uncle Nick. We can't go through the fall season without taking time to play in the leaves. We felt Clara was ready to start trying some "solid food."  We made all of Olivia's baby food and did the same with Clara...so easy, inexpensive, and healthy!  Clara's first food was sweet potatoes.  She gave me a pretty priceless expression the first few bites as she got used to the texture and feeling of food in her mouth.  After those initial bites she took off with flying colors and hasn't looked back since!  The girl loves to eat :) Our happy little girly! And since we had her check-up today, here are her 4...
