For the grandpas

Catch Up

The blog has been neglected the past couple of weeks, so I will try to catch up a little on what has been happening in our neck of the woods.  Olivia ~ Continues to love school.  She has her first field trip last week, to the apple orchard with her class!  She has recently given up her beloved pacifier!!!  I still can hardly believe it was as easy of a process getting rid of it as it was.  To our amazement, there were very little tears or tantrums.  She is becoming such a "big girl" as she likes to call herself!  Clara ~ Clara is our 'big girl' literally.  She is nearing 4 months and often wears 9 month or larger clothes.  She is also very long, which I guess shouldn't be too big of a surprise :)  She loves to smile and is happy most of the time.  Right now her biggest struggle is sleep.  She prefers to nap in mom's arms than anywhere else and is waking up at night more often.  I hope we can start to get her into some...

Apple Orchard

We are getting into fall mode around the Engbers' household.  We decided today would be a great day to do one of our favorite fall actvities: visiting the apple orchard. Olivia was very excited to have her first pony ride! Riding out to the apple trees. Olivia can finally reach the apples this year to pick them all by herself! Finishing off the trip with an ice cream treat!

KC trip

As part of Olivia's birthday celebration we thought a trip to the Omaha zoo might be fun since we would be traveling through Omaha on our way to Kansas City.  We had limited time, so we did a lot of power-walking, but we saw most of the animals we had hoped to see and it was a nice break from the long car ride. Checking out one of the monkeys. Clara happy to be out of the car and in the fresh air.  Clara is still not fond of the car seat and she proved it to us once again on this trip.  The zoo was a nice break for her from the car! Olivia getting up close to the gorilla. An ORANGE fish! Dad and Clara in the rain forest. Grandma Syl let Olivia choose an animal from the gift shop to take home.  Somehow Olivia ended up with two :)  A mommy giraffe and her baby of course. We finally made it to Kansas City after getting through all the detours due to the flooding.  We were ALL very ready to be out of the car.  Olivi...
