Tonight we went to a picnic for the Christian Medical Association, a group that Jon helps lead at his med school. The group includes medical students and nursing students who are on Iowa's campus and provides an opportunity for Bible study and Christian fellowship. Two new 1st year medical students we met tonight were even graduates of Dordt and Northwestern!

One of my favorite times of the year is fall. I love the fall colors, the changing of the leaves, the smell of pumpkin and cinnamon candles, and the gorgeous weather. Today was defnitely a "fall day" in Iowa City...so I decided I needed to add some fall decorations around the house. The Martha Stewart in me said "I can make some decorations myself this year"...so after a few trips to Hobby Lobby and Pier One for supplies I have some new fall decorations!!! In Iowa City fall also means football, and any true Hawkeye fan has a flag outside their house.

Before anyone gets too excited about the title of my post, let me explain. I love Christmas music. Every year, as the leaves begin to show their colors and the heat of summer fades to the chilly feel of fall, I slip one of my Christmas CDs into a player and begin enjoying the sounds of the season. While the rest of the world is carving pumpkins and stuffing turkeys, I am silently humming carols and anxiously awaiting the birthday of our King. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy a good jackolantern and delight in giving thanks around a turkey feast, but all along I look toward Christmas, enjoying its wonderful music while I wait. Now, I agree that it is 'much' too early to start thinking about Christmas right now. But in a month, maybe two? It's really more of a feeling than an actual date for me. However, this year, on October 16, I will be enjoying Christmas music in full force - Michael W. Smith is coming out with his first Christmas album in nine years! The title,...

Yes, it's finally happened...my name has officially been chosen for one of the many summer tropical storms. Tropical storm ERIN is gaining strength in the Gulf of Mexico right now. What do you think my chances are of being upgraded to a hurricane?!?!

August 8, 2003, 4 years ago today, we were excitedly getting ready for our wedding! It's hard to believe our wedding was 4 years ago already. The time has definitely flown by. Jon and I celebrated our anniversary already this morning by eating a big breakfast together. We also realized while having the Today Show on this morning that 1 year from today, our 5th anniversary, will be 8-8-08, which is also the starting day of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.....which is great news for us....we love the Olympics!!!

Our assumptions were correct. . .the building going up by our house is most definitely a SONIC!!! Hopefully the next picture I can post at the Sonic will be of me eating a Sonic hamburger and shake :) (Jon will have the chili cheese dog)!
