So we have been in Mexico for exactly a month now. We are still in the hotel. Which, at first it was fun to be in the hotel. Someone to make your bed everyday, I didn't have to worry about meals, I sent my laundry to get done. But, now I'm kind of over it! I just think the boys need a little more structure right now. But we did find a house we like. It's in Bosques de la Lomas. It's about 8 miles away from the Embassy, and people say about a 30 min. commute to the embassy. So if all works out, we will be in a home in about 6 weeks. (yes you read that right, thats how long it will take to get the house up to embassy standards for us to live in). So here is to 6 more weeks of someone (she is a very nice lady) making my bed.
So last week we were all sick. It started with Cooper throwing up in the middle of the night. Then 2 nights later Jonathan was up ALL night throwing up. Poor guy he was in a lot of pain. Then friday night Jon got it. But it put him out for the whole weekend.
We were asked to speak in church last weekend. Jon ended up being sick and did not attend church to speak. I did some how get a talk ready and gave it sunday. I got ready sunday morning, and got the boys ready and we were about to leave, and Cooper decided to throw a giant fit about wanting to wear under ware to church, not a diaper. It was an epic fit. He would not leave the hotel room, I didn't have time to fight with him. I had to catch a taxi to get to church on time. So after about 5 min or trying to talk some since into him, I had to leave him with Jon. Turns out he and daddy laid in bed and watched movies all day.
So we have been eating a lot of tacos here! I think I found my favorite place. The main taco everyone gets and I'm not sure if it s a specialty here, but everyone serves it. It's called Taco Pastor. It is pork that is on a rotisserie and they shave it off and serve it on a corn tortilla with shaved pineapple. It is very delicious! But most taco stands and shops have it. But a place I found this weekend is so far my favorite. The flavor is excellent. Jonathan even ate one! Thats a big deal.
Speaking of food, so today the boys and I went on a play date with our friends the Johnson's. We went and got pizza and we ordered a pepperoni pizza for the kids. When our pizza came it was covered in black olives and mushrooms, with a few pepperonis on it. The friend who speaks spanish went to the restroom when the food came, So i was trying to ask if this is the right pizza. Apparently it was. Pepperoni pizza at this restaurant comes with black olives and mushrooms. My boys were not to pleased. But I'm getting the hang of ordering food and reading a menu.
We have also really enjoyed the popsicles here. They have popsicles stands with homemade popsicles that are amazing! I have pictures somewhere!
The boys are picking up spanish words here and there. They don't even notice it, but they are learning. I think I do pretty well taking taxis around town. So far we have always ended up where we needed to be! I'm a little nervous to drive when our van comes. The driving here is much different from the states. There are no lines on the roads. Some roads people make up there own lanes. They get very close to you when your driving. And the roundabout, you can go right or left in them. It's not just all right until you get around. I still can't wrap my head around that one. Stop lights are optional. 4 ways stops are a luck of the draw when you get to go. And there are like 4 streets with the same name next to each other. So trying to follow directions get a little complicated and turns into a guessing game. Jon now has his work car, so we have taken it out a few times. He does very well driving. We don't always get where we are going in a timely manner. But he has done great in a very confusing city!
We are still very excited to be in the Mexico. The boys and I have a done some fun stuff. We went to Chapultepec park and walked around the markets and visited the Castle. We have gone to Lincoln park to play and meet friends. We are going to try to get out and see some museums in the upcoming days.

So we moved to MEXICO!
and I had a baby!
So a lot has happened since my last post.
Lets start off with Emilio.
He was born May 7, 2014 in Portsmouth, VA
2 short weeks later we moved out of our house in Virginia Beach. The movers came and packed up all our stuff and put it in giant wooden crates and shipped them off to Mexico. Jon then had 6 weeks of school in Ohio, Co and Va. So we went to NieNie and Papa's house to play!
We were supposed to depart for Mexico City on July 15th, But Milo's visa hadn't arrived yet. After all of our planning ahead and getting papers filled out early and what not. Turns out when you have a baby before your supposed to move over seas it makes things a little complicated. The Military didn't have record of him (because he was just born) so we had lots of hoops to jump through. But we finally got his visa on July 17th. Jon and I had to go down to the Mexican embassy in DC and basically wait for 6 hours for them to process it. Then they handed it to us and we made the phone call saying we had it and were booked on a flight the next day. We had an afternoon flight which made the morning not so crazy.
I'll put in more details about our flight and arrival in Mexico. But in the mean time, we made it safe and sound. We made some friends who are staying int he hotel with us, The Bolina's.

The Boys about to get on the plane.
The first morning we were here. The view outside of our room. Looking at the Angel of Independence.
On a walk down Reforma on our first day here~
Boys in the hotel room.
We walked down to the grocery store and found an Mexican Ice Cream store. Not the same as what we are used to. But the boys liked it.

Fire truck
We got to ride an old fire truck as part of Olney days! Jb was so fascinated with the the truck he wouldn't look at the camera.
Cooper was not so sure what was going on. He had a very concerned look on his face the whole time.
