The boys' cub scout pack went on a hike in October to Guillemont Cove. I had never been there before, but had heard that it was lovely, so I was happy to tag along. It is kind of a steep hike down through some narrow trails. Once we got to the bottom though, it opened up and it was so beautiful.
A couple of the kids had been here before and lead us to the Stump House.
There was a geocache inside and the kids were looking for things to leave.
(He's holding a key he got from the geocache)
This is one of the creeks and Matthew named it the "Golden Stream" because the oyster shells were getting an algae or something on them that looked gold.
I handed Matthew the camera for the hike up (sometimes a distraction from the fact you are hiking UPhill is useful for little boys. You're welcome!) He took lots of pictures of the ferns and shrubs and mushrooms along the way.
We walked just about 3 miles total and I don't think I heard any of the boys complaining. I was pretty impressed and it was definitely worth the views.
Earlier that week we went on another hike with a friend on Bainbridge Island. It was also lovely.
Look at that cute gnome by the tree.
