November at a Glance

The Keyport Museum has a monthly Science Saturday and we went in November. The boys always have a good time there. They are kind of weirdos though.

We were making leaves for our Thankful Tree and then the kids wanted to cut tiny pieces of paper for a long time. Construction paper is such easy entertainment.

I helped Matthew weave some paper.

Evidently cutting paper into tiny pieces is super fun.

To offer some motivation for Matthew to learn the alphabet, Jon suggested we could take him to Chuck-E-Cheese. He worked really hard and once he learned all his letters, off we went to a place I really don't love, but Matthew does. He was so excited to be there and Jon and I are so proud of how much he's learning already this year.

  

On Veteran's day, we went to my dad's house and helped clean up his yard.

Jon surprised the boys with a little motorcycle. They were so excited to take some lessons. Sean may have driven into a tree, but he's totally fine.

We went on a field trip to a fish hatchery. My pictures were terrible. It was really interesting though to see how all the eggs are stored and harvested and how data is collected. Fascinating. Did you know that out in the ocean, lots of varieties of salmon all look blue, but when they come into the streams their colors change for mating? Nature is amazing.

Maisy is growing like crazy, and her colors are changing and she's lovely. She has little white tips on her ears. We started a class this month and it's been good to work on more training with our wild puppy.

Sean lost one of his top teeth while at the grocery store.

We went to Tualatin for Thanksgiving and it was a blast! We also got to meet Lorainne's new puppy, Teddy. He is so freaking cute!

Lorainne had a huge chocolate turkey and the kids loved busting into it.

Lorainne bought the kids a Ninjabread Men Cookie set and we made them one night with Kira. They loved it! 

 

November was pretty wonderful.

October Catching Up

I've been a super slacker, so I'm going to do some quick catching up. Here goes!

Ally and her kids came up to visit for a few days. We had so much fun! We went to a corn maze and picked out pumpkins. The kids played and played.

 

Sean went on his first Cub Scout campout with Jon. They had so much fun. It was a really wet weekend, but they didn't seem to mind.

Halloween was a lovely day. I helped out with a party in Matthew's class and it was fun to see the parade of kids in their costumes. Matthew was a ninja and he was so serious about striking a pose when asked. I love that boy!

Marine Science Unit

Sean recently finished a science unit about marine life. I decided to take a little trip to the Marine Science center in Poulsbo as a reward after he took his test. There is an octopus there from time to time, and we were lucky enough to see one on this trip. It was even being fed while we were there so it was spreading its tentacles out.

Since we were in Poulsbo, we had to stop at Sluy's for a treat.

Sean (and I) learned about a few new creatures, did some fun experiments and art projects as part of the unit. He loves science!
