Picking Daddy up From Moab

We met Aunt Pam at McDonalds on our way to pick John up in Spanish Fork. Ryley was getting baptized Saturday morning and we were picking John up early from his trip so that he could join us.

This is the energy that Drew now has - now that he's GF.
Some days I wonder if I give him just a little bit of gluten if he'll calm down for just a minute.

We got to go to an Owlz game that night too. It was a busy but fun day.

Saturday we went to Ryley's baptism. It was nice but I didn't get any pictures. He was the only one getting baptized so it went rather quickly. I was hoping for pictures afterwards but Jordan decided to poop all over John, himself and the floor of the church right before Ryley was to be confirmed. John, Jordan and I all had to leave to go clean them up. I didn't have any change of clothes for Jordan so we went back in with him looking ready for a dip in the pool! By the time we got the mess on both boys cleaned up and the mess on the floor cleaned up it was too late for pictures! We are so proud of Ryley - way to go Ryley!

Millville Fire

We drove down from our house to see where the helicopter was getting water from. It was pretty cool to see this helicopter getting water and dumping it so closely.

These are people parked on Main Street to get a good view of the fire.

I tried to take a picture through the binoculars, it turned out better than expected.
The fire didn't burn much more than these pictures show, which is a good thing since houses were relatively close by. It would've been cool to see a BIG fire though.

Moab trip with Millville Scouts

The trip to Moab from Logan is a loooooong drive.  To  make matters worse, one of the boys in the other vehicle threw up everywhere.  Apparently he had put some alcohol in his canteen and was a little loopy by about Price.  After he threw up, the leaders had to pull over and completely spray out the vehicle.  I'm thanking my lucky stars he didn't puke in OUR vehicle!  This picture is all the boys playing by the side of the highway while we were waiting for the other vehicle to catch up.  Needless to say, the rebellious boy was promptly taken home.  The boys in our vehicle were MOSTLY using their brain cells.  One of the boys thought it would be funny to throw an old steel wheel rim right into the middle of the road.  Yes, he's one of "those" types.....lacking in sound judgment.  As their leader, I felt like more often than not I was their babysitter.

Heading out to bike slickrock trail!  I have lived in Utah my entire life and had never biked this trail before.  Had a blast.  Most of the boys quit after the "practice loop".  Only 4 or 5 of us did the entire loop.

Beautiful surroundings in Southern Utah

I loved the views of the Colorado River and the steep cliffs.

Found a watering hole where we could cool off.  The boys enjoyed jumping off the cliffs into the water.  The water was only about 6 feet deep at its deepest point and there were a few of us....not mentioning any names, that wanted to jump off the tallest cliff into the water.  You had to make sure you landed with your arms out to the side and bent knees so that the water would slow you down upon impact.  Even so, from that high up, your butt would still hit the ground under the water.  Don't tell Tiffani.

This was my first time EVER seeing Delicate arch.  31 years living in Utah and I'd never seen it.

Getting ready to raft the Colorado.  Of course nobody came prepared with sunscreen....except me.   So as I pulled mine out, I got about 17 people wanting to borrow it.  Want to guess how long it lasted?

Our river guide was amazing.  She rowed against the wind for about 3 hours straight!  The bad side to this is her tour guide company wouldn't let us do anything do to liability issues, no cliff jumping, no stopping.  We weren't even allowed to help row the raft.  Lame.

Manti pageant to finish the trip.  This was a great spiritual way to top things off.  Many of the boys had never seen the pageant let alone the Manti temple. (By the way the scenery from Moab to Manti is INCREDIBLE!  I had never driven it before.  I'm going to have drive it again sometime.  There are some amazing views here in Utah.

Crazy Little Lady

Jocelyn dressed herself up and decorated herself. She put the headband and shirt on and put post-its on herself. I wanted a picture of her crazy self but she refused to just smile. She's adorable, no matter how silly she looks.

Seeley Fire

On the way home from St. George we saw this amazing cloud. We didn't realize that it was from a huge fire until we got closer to Spanish Fork. The cloud was huge and looked so amazing!

St. George in June

Two and half months post Jordan. Probably shouldn't post this picture, but it is what it is and I can't change it! I want the kids to know that I was actually there.
We went to St. George to play with the Hakes side before Brixton and Kristin moved to Denver for Law School! We were so excited to go swimming - for three days! Jordan HATED the pool. He wanted nothing to do with it - at all. The rest of us LOVED it and couldn't get enough swimming in.

Cousins getting ready to go swimming - the best part!

We outlasted Uncle Ikani and Aunt Steph, as well as everyone else.

We celebrated Madison and Ryley's birthdays while we were there. Because we are gluten free, I made a GF cake for her birthday. All she wanted was a yellow, rainbow, sparkle cake. (If you ask her, her favorite color, she'll tell you - yellow, rainbow, sparkle!) It was pretty good considering it was GF.

Corwynn climbed up to the second level, which wasn't ours, to get a ball that had flown up there. The only problem was that he couldn't get back down once he got up there because he was too scared. It took some good coaxing and Max climbing up to help him get down.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Brixton may be going to law school, but that doesn't mean that he's matured. It looks pretty cool though!

Parker had to do it too - catching it right at this point was fabulous.

Notice Steph's little baby bump!

At Cold Stone's.

We ditched all the grand-babies with grandpa and went on a group date. John and I were the old fuddy-duddies. We enjoyed ice cream and racing before heading back to the kids.
