Madison has lost her title

Does this face remind you of a baby monkey? A baby monkey that knows they're in trouble?
Jocelyn seems to have taken over Madison's title of naughty little imp. Madison has been pretty good. Nothing too crazy or abnormal for a kid her age. Jocelyn seems to find all naughty things and then proceed to make them as messy as possible. She enjoys playing the toilet - yes, the toilet. I can't bring myself to go get the camera while I know she's playing in the toilet, it's too nasty. She knows it's naughty and she'll go hide in my bathroom where I can't hear her so she can play to her hearts content. Yuck!

Jocelyn was quiet, a bad thing. I caught her playing in the recycling bin with the left overs of melted ice cream!

Making sure that all parts of her are saturated. Notice the hair? She rubbed it in pretty good.

The shirt must be fully covered as well.

I took off her clothes and put them in the washer. When I returned she had taken the ice cream bucket and put it on her head. Before I could get the camera she'd gone to this.

Again with rubbing it in.

Notice her little foot up on the table? For some reason she thinks that when she's at the table she should prop her foot up. It's usually completely on the table but she was so excited to play peek-a-boo that she let it slip down a little.

While I was doing dishes Jocelyn became quiet again. I found her sitting in the cereal drawer. She pulled it out, sat down and helped herself to all the cereals she could reach.
While at the dentist office she wanted to go back to the patient rooms and John wouldn't let her get past him to get there. She ran to the front door and waited for John to arrive. Once he got there she took off running to the patient rooms and John had to actually jog to catch her before she made it! She's going to be a handful!

Dancing baby

Jocelyn LOVES this drum toy. She pushes it all around the house while keeping the "music" going the entire time! She loves to clap along and then she'll throw her hands up in the air and start waving all around. She's so cute and happy while she's doing it. If you dare to turn off her "music" she'll scream and cry until you fix it! She's got some personality I tell you!

Faux hawks and dinner

Does Jocelyn not sport the most amazing faux hawk you ever did see? Her pony fell out and this is what we were rewarded with afterwards!
The kids decided they wanted Jocelyn to eat at the table with us. I thought we'd try it and then we could go back to being contained but Jocelyn LOVED sitting at the table. This is her new permanent spot. She feeds herself and she likes to try and use utensils, occasionally with success!

First day of school

Because Alexis is a first grader she thought having a first day of school picture was not so cool. But she looked so cute that I had to take some anyway. Grandpa Rod had bought her this dress for school and because it was her favorite she wore it the first day of school!

Drew and his friend Denair arriving for their first day of preschool. Madison is at the door peeking in because she was just as excited as Drew was!

Madison wanted to pose for her picture. Not sure what she was doing for her pose, but she's so adorable doing it!

This is a frisbee that I designed. Yes, all by my big self. I am in charge of the birthday table at the elementary school. Once a month we set up a birthday table and the principal comes to eat with all the birthday kids. This year I chose to give them a jump rope and a frisbee. The jump rope was such a great idea until we saw that it was midget sized. All the tiny kids love it! The frisbee has been a big hit with everyone though! One size fits all there!
I also started school again, after a two week break from summer semester! I however did not take a picture of myself for the first day of school.

Rivalry Relay AKA death

Do I look dead? I felt dead. I could barely walk for three days after this picture.

The rivalry relay runs from the Utes campus to the Cougars campus, 60 miles. There are six teammates and a driver. I was stupid enough to say that I'd do it with them, yes, stupid. I did NO training, none, nada, squat, zilch, you get the idea! I did run the Spanish Fork Speedy Spaniard 10k, with no training and it about killed me too. you'd think I would've learned my lesson but I didn't.
My first leg was a 4 mile leg and it was supposed to be easy with a small hill in the middle. What they failed to mention was that that small hill continued up from mile two until mile four. It wasn't steep, but I was nearly dead and I still had two more legs to go. Kill me. My second leg was all down hill! I was doing great for the first two miles and I felt good! (Probably because I borrowed someone's shoes. My finger shoes were killing my calves.) At about mile 3 I started getting the cold chills in 102 degree weather. At mile 3.25 I about passed out. I let one of my teammates finish for me. (Allison was running with me so she could warm down! Yes, she's amazing!) Apparently getting the cold chills is not so good, it's called heat stroke! I stopped before it killed me, but that doesn't mean that it didn't feel like I was dead. My last leg I walked for a mile before I had to let someone else finish. I will NEVER run again, I'm not joking.
John did amazing, as usual. He was running up the hills like they were nothing. He barely broke a sweat running his 10 miles. He was also really good at being there to hold me up when I thought the ground looked more inviting!
Our team did amazing, we ended up gaining about 20 spots from the middle of the race to the end of the race.

We left the kids with Grandma and Grandpa Wadley while we were running, all day long. I thought the kids would be excited to see us when we got home but they could've cared less. Including Jocelyn, who has never been left for longer than an hour before! She didn't even come to see us when we got there. We then left to go out to eat and not one of them said anything other than "BYE". They obviously had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa.
Before we left we went and played with Grandpa Rod. The kids love to go and hang all over him and use his ping pong balls and paddles to pelt him!

A little car for a little lady

Anyone want to go for a ride? Jocelyn was so excited she found a car to play in. She was extremely upset when it wouldn't go.

John and I got to go on a date! It's amazing I know. However we ended up taking Jocelyn with us, so does it really count? I had never been golfing before so I went and I got to drive the cart - the best part. Jocelyn did great, she loved the cart and all the goodies that we packed for her. John did great and had fun getting out and getting a round in before the weather changed. After golfing we took the kids swimming. Madison loved to jump off the edge of the pool, touch the bottom and then float back to the top where she expected to be saved and then put back on the side of the pool to start all over again, and again, and again. Drew and Alexis went down the slide multiple times. They would have done that all day if we had let them. Madison tried the slide once by herself. She ended up getting turned around so she was coming down backwards.

Starting August off right

We had to have a plumber come to unclog our sink. The first plumber came and worked for an hour and could not get the clog out. The next plumber came and worked for about half an hour and 80 feet of cord later we were able to get our sink back!
The kids thought it was great fun to watch the loud machine jumping around. I thought it was great to get my sink back. Who would've thought that not having your sink for a mere 12 hours would cause so many problems?

The rest of the finger story

All the kids ready to go to the Doctors office to check on Madison's finger. It took another week before the stitches could come out. Getting the stitches out was just as traumatic as I knew it was going to be. Her stitches were underneath the scab! I soaked her finger a little before we left as well as giving her a full dose of Lortab but they did little to help. The doc soaked her finger a little longer and it was still horrid. We asked her if she wanted to get shots again so it didn't hurt or if she wanted us to hurry and get them out, she opted for the shots! It surprised me a little! Once the shots were in she was fine and the stitches came out nicely. Her finger is healing well and the nail is already half grown back!

We had some pretty amazing lighting storms at the end of August. John caught this picture from the back yard.
