First, he's into size 5 jeans! I'm still snugging him into six three on low laundry days, poor kid, because he only has two size four pairs of pants. But now I'm grateful that I never bought him any more in that size because he's already too tall. =) Second, he's been a very watchful big brother lately.... whenever We wake up in the morning, Kade is there to give us an update on Ethan. He'll say, "Kade awake!" in a celebratory fashion followed by "Baby sad" (if ethan's crying) or whisper "Baby sleeping"if ethan 's still asleep. HE always gives us an update of how he's doing. What I love is when he tells Ethan lovingly, "be happy, Eesin" if Ethan is crying. and celebrates for him with cheers and clapping when Ethan does something new like free-stand in the middle of the room. And he always makes sure that Ethan stays inside the house when the door's open. It's really pretty cute. Third, Kade is learning to share with his brother, but still says "mine" to other kids who come over. SHaring with Ethan is what really strikes me, and learning the word "mine" is to be expected at this age, so that's not so shocking. Today when Kade opened his presents, he gave one of his airplanes (a War Hawk, to all of you military airplane fans) to Ethan, even before he opened the other one! After ooohing and ahhhing over it, he handed it to Ethan and asked Casey to open it for him. Than Kade unwrapped the other airplane and the boys played together all morning. Casey and I had a moment of gratification that maybe we're on the right track with our kids. =) Fourth, he's talking up a storm! His words are still little kid-ish is his pronunciation, but he can communicate a bout anything that he wants to say. Way to go Kade! It still takes some translating on my part, but overall, we're able to be on the same page, now!
My parents got kade a really neat toy that has construction vehicles that follow a track and load/dump cargo (rocks). We were all mesmerized by it. It's battery operated and does it all for you. Kade thought it was awesome! --Especially when he learned that he could push a special button to change the direction the trucks were going. Mom and Dad-- it was a hit!
Here's Kade's birthday cake. Since I've started to make cakes, I need to have some different samples of cakes. That's why I chose to do a two tier fondant cake. It was great practice for me, and he loves it! (hello, there's a car on top) I'm really grateful that I chose to use fondant because despite it's complexity to make and handle, Kade was able to "decorate" the back half with left over pieces and I could easily peel them back off without any trace that it had been there. =) I'm glad the cake turned out cute. And I learned a TON about building multiple tiered cakes. So, he's happy and I'm happy. WAHOO!
This is a picture of a message Casey sprayed into our lawn after it "snowed" (can you really call this a snowfall?). He made it with the hose. i felt pretty special. =)
This is a caterpillar cake that I made over thanksgiving weekend for my friend's niece. She was turing one, so the head is detached so she can dig into it. The camera was on a funny setting so the blue areas were really purple, but it is still cute. =)
Well, we love you all. And wish you all a Wonderful Christmas!
