Spring

I love Spring and bright colors. Unfortunately though, as I look into my closet I see only blah winter colors. I need a wardrobe makeover! I think that is why I am coveting my daughter's skirt. Yes, that's right... I want the same skirt as a 18 month old. Would it be weird to have matching skirts? I think it would be cute. I'll probably make my lemon patterned twirly skirt this weekend and just maybe for Mother's Day we'll go to church, completely matching.

Oh, how we love Okeyville wind!

My Aging

A friend had a post about her evolution since the High School days and so I thought it would be fun to do the same thing...

Freshmen Year- Yikes!

Sophomore Year- I always ended up with pictures taken after  races, never before.

Junior Year- Picture taken over the summer with my awesome and beautiful cousin!

Senior Year Picture

This is a jump in years (eight to be exact) but I thought I would put up a picture of me with long hair (well, long for me)

(These are all pictures of pictures so the quality isn't the best. I tried to get pictures up of me with roommates but they were to dark and blurry. I'm so glad everything is digital now!)

Wordless Wednesday

I think it's time to invest in rain gear

I think it's obvious the Economy is pretty bad right now. Fortunately Chris and I haven't been effected by it so far, but then again nothing is really coming in the house to lose. I guess it's a good time to be in school, although I do worry about when we graduate...what then. Unfortunately though we know several people that have been affected by the economy. One of my friend's family are unemployed at this time, both her and her husband. Currently she is trying to sell a lot of items from her house to make ends meat. I'm sure this is really hard for her and I only wish I had the money to help her out. If you live in Utah though, and are looking for some really great priced, basically new furniture and home decor then please look over her stuff HERE and HERE.
My friend has great taste so everything is way cute!

Frugal Friday

To lazy to post freebies today but here are just a few very basic things we've been doing around the house to save money...

1. Cut dryer sheets in half (even generic brands still work when only using half a sheet)

2. Use plastic grocery bags instead of trash bags. I admit I still buy trash bags ( it would drive Chris  crazy if not) but when I work in the kitchen instead of always using the trash can I hang up a plastic bag on a drawer handle and use it instead. They are free and it's better than just tossing the grocery sacks.

3. Get rid of paper towels. I'm serious, it's do-able. We've been paper towel free for 3 months now.

Tackle it Tuesday

Sorry, more crafts this Tuesday too. I think I should go back to tackling and organizing messes so that it looks like I actually do stuff around here! Although spring cleaning is about to begin! We ordered some space saver bags to condense storage stuff...I can't wait! I love spring cleaning (really, I do)!

For this Tackle it Tuesday I made some new hair clips.. and so then I decided to make something to hold all of the clips too. I actually had the wooden letters on hand (bought them last year) so I decided to make this...

And a pillowcase dress too....

I have actually been sewing a ton of shirts and dresses for the my munchkin. She is lacking on summer clothes and we are lacking on the green stuff that doesn't grow on trees! So my goal is to make her summer wardrobe this year (and under $20.00 too). So far I have finished 3 halter tops, 2 dresses, 2 pair of bloomers, 3 headbands, and 4 flower hair clips costing a total of $10.00. I figure at this age she can't complain, in a few years she'll have every right too and I won't hold it against her. Of course, hopefully my sewing skills will have improved by then and I can just secretly sew on "Gap" tags to my handmade stuff without any question of authenticity.  Wahahaha!

Frugal- Freebie Friday

To celebrate Earth Day, Disney is giving away free totes (or water bottles?). I've actually heard different things on this freebie. It is one of the two though, and still free. I personally think the tote is really cute but Hannah would love the water bottle.

All you have to do is take 3 plastic bottles into the Disney Store on Earth Day (April 22nd) and you receive your freebie. I'd call and make sure that your local store is participating first though, I do this with any free offer so that I don't waiste my time. And I'm sure like all freebies it's while supplies last.

Tackle It Tuesday

I found the cutest halter top tutorial HERE!

Of course my creation doesn't do it justice. For this one I just cut up one of my old shirts that I never wear. It's a little big on my little one so I'll cut some off in measurements next time. But overall I love it. It's simple and quick! I figure I'll make more since practice makes perfect and it's way cheap and easy to make.

The second one I made I just used some old sheets and decided to throw in a matching headband. I'm starting to get more used to the sewing machine. I'm not the best at it, and it is still a little intimidating but at the same time so addicting! I love making things for our munchkin!

Some Bunny Loves Us

This weekend has been a blast! Chris turned in a huge assignment on Thursday and so we have spent the past three days hanging out as a family and just having fun! On Friday we dyed Easter eggs and then that night after putting Hannah down we had an 'At Home Date Night'. Then Saturday we had an egg hunt in our backyard and for lunch we got some Sushi for me and Chic-Fil-a for Chris to celebrate a couple of accomplishments.

Saturday night our neighbors brought over the cutest cake for us!

Then this morning we woke up to find that the Easter Bunny had stopped by and left tons of goodies! It was so much fun to watch Hannah, who was still half asleep, walk around finding eggs and baskets in our family room. After finding all that was left by the Easter Bunny we took time to read about why we really celebrate this day. Hannah wasn't quite so interested, but it was still nice to sit down and read about our Savior and the Resurrection.

Hannah's new dress (which I made, believe it or not!)

We had bunnycakes and waffles for breakfast...yumm!

And to finish it off, some videos for the family!

An Easter Message

I'm grateful for our Savior's example. His great love and sacrifice for us makes it possible to one day be with our Heavenly Father. I know Christ lives, he loves us, and he is always there for us to draw near unto him.

This morning I watched a beautiful video on a friend's blog. It is taken from Elder Holland's Conference address this past Sunday-

Where did March go?

Okay, so I realize we are almost half way through April already but I wanted to post some random pictures from March that I never got around to putting up. Where does the time go?! First these pictures and then I'll get around to posting Easter pictures. I'll try to do that tonight...not a month from now!
Fondue, Anyone?!

Enough Okey snow to build a hood ornament!

I love this Quirky Girl!

March consisted of a whole lot of baking!
250 brownies for a reception and 3 four layered cakes for the Relief Society Birthday Party!

I haven't had much time for entering giveaways but I did win two giveaways in March, Yeah! From one giveaway, I received a $15 Gift Card to DaisyLu.
My other prize I won a gorgeous Nimli Shawl from a fave site of mine- Everyday Baby Steps

Giveaway

Last November I won a beautiful outfit from Kandy Kisses Boutique and now she's having another great giveaway to introduce her knew line called Maggie. I'm especially excited about this new line because it starts at $9.95! Go HERE to enter for a chance to win a cute spring outfit and to take a look at the new line.

Frugal Friday

Here are my favorites for the week. I found them all over at MY GOOD CENTS.

1. Each Monday in April, Earth Bound Farm gives away 10,000 reusable grocery totes. I won a bag this past Monday. Just make sure to try first thing in the morning. They go quick. Click HERE and you'll find on the right sidebar a "Take Our Earth Day Pledge". Just click on that for your free tote.

2. If you collect Disney Reward Points then here are some codes equaling 100 pts-

SUPERBARK
JIMINY
BUDDERBALL
PAPERS

3. Fisher Price is offering the first episode of Precious Places on DVD for free and no shipping or handling. When you go to the website just choose country and click continue. It'll have you fill out shipping information and that's it. It does take awhile to ship. I think it said about 12 weeks.

TACKLE IT TUESDAY

About a month ago I was at a friend's house when she showed me the cutest tutu ever that her sister had made. The best part about it was that it didn't require any sewing! I couldn't stop thinking about it and how I could make one too! I've always wanted to get a tutu for Hannah to play in and to take pictures of but I've never found a good priced one. They are always so expensive. So that's where my excitement came from when I saw such a simple idea.

I bought all of the material for 12.00 (I could've gone about 4 dollars cheaper if I had just used my own ribbon, but it was a good excuse to by some new). The best part about this project- it only took me about 30 minutes to do! It's going to be an Easter gift for Hannah so I'll post pictures of the model herself later!

Tender Moment...

Yesterday at the conclusion of the first session of General Conference, Hannah starting asking for juice. So as the closing song was ending I got up to go into the kitchen. Thinking Hannah would follow I filled up her sippy only to turn around and not find her there. I listened...nothing. So I walked around the corner to find her...listened...nothing. I continued into the office where we were watching conference and found her with her head bowed and arms folded listening to the closing prayer.

I'm so grateful for the simple, innocent messages we gain from little ones!

This one was actually taken today during conference. Hannah was sitting at the desk and watching. She tries so hard to pull off the angelic look...it works sometimes.

Random note- If you ordered the free pictures from Canon that I posted about on Friday please note that they changed their size from 8x10 to 4x6! So not cool! I guess they were previously giving out one 8x10 from your choice of one printer but then switched it to a 4x6 from each printer. I would personally prefer the 8x10 but it's still a freebie. I received mine yesterday and they look great. Since they are 4x6s then I'll just tuck them in with Easter cards I sent out. Anyways sorry if anyone got excited about free 8x10s, again I repeat....so not cool!

Baby Legs

I've had my eye on THESE for awhile now, but they're not cheap! Then a couple of weeks ago I found THIS tutorial over at a fave site of mine. Of course, mine don't quite ruffle like Callys, but I plan on making more...and practice makes perfect!

Basically what we have here are some adult socks I bought at target (on clearance!) and I cut off the bottoms and sewed tightly at the cut-off part to ruffle the edges. It cost me just $1.66 for each pair! And they make great arm warmers too!

And Randomly, I have come to 2 conclusions after taking this picture...
1. I really need to start working on the push ups and
2. I have old lady boobs!
