When life hands you lemons, make lemonade

As you know from John's last post, it's finals time. He's been studying a ton, and I think he'll continue to do well!
We really like getting mail on Tuesdays because we get the ads. "Junk mail" has never been so fun! (I think it's just because it's something; plus we get excited to see if there are any good deals.) This last week we got our usual ads and saw some really good deals on fruit at two stores we've been wanting to check out. One of the places we went to was a Mexican market. It was a really fun experience. Of course it was especially fun for John. He looked like a little kid in a candy store. Anyway, we enjoyed our shopping, and we got fruit.
One of our purchases was a bunch of lemons. Because of finals, our family home evening activity needed to be a shorter one tonight; so we made lemonade! It was quick but a lot of fun, and we bonded over having lemon juice under our fingernails and adding a little extra sugar to the mix here and there. Plus now we have a tasty drink to keep us refreshed through the studying. We also took some time to reflect on our blessings, and we definitely have much more lemonade than lemons. I am so grateful for the love and generosity of our Heavenly Father. Life is swell!

A Saturday Afternoon

Well, classes ended for this semester on Wednesday, which means finals are upon us. The last few days I've been studying for finals. I needed an 85 or higher on the final to get an A in my music class. Well, I studied hard and went and took my exam. As I handed in my exam and walked down the stairs, I was anxious to see what I got (they have a screen at the bottom of the stairs that shows your student number and what you got on the final). Well, I got down the stairs and looked up in anticipation, and....waited....and waited....and waited. After a few more waitings I went upstairs to ask about the test. They informed me that the test scanner was broken and that I'd just have to check my score later today on route Y.
I came home and checked route Y. Nothing. Then, just before dinner, I checked it again. I got an 88! Meaning, I got an A. This is my first A in college, and I was pretty thrilled about that. Monique surprised me with a cake at dinner. I'll just have to let you see it for yourselves.

Woohoo!!

Today marks three months of marriage! It's been the happiest 90 days of my life so far. I love being married to my best friend!

April Adventures

"It was the best of times. It was the worst of times." That's how I'm feeling, and I assume Monique shares my sentiments. We're LOVING being married. It's the greatest thing ever. However, Monique's been sick...again...which is NOT the greatest thing ever.  (For those of you who didn't know, it's been an adventure complete with kidney infection, mono, and now MRSA.  But on the mend.)  Actually, it's pretty far down on the list.
This last week we've had some fun adventures, and I'll try to get you caught up as best as possible. But, we're going to do it through.....*drumroll*....PICTURES, and some words....
First off...the tale of the curtain. That's right. One. We had gift money to Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and found some curtains we really liked, so we bought the curtains we liked, and the rod to hang them on. We came home and put them up to find this. One curtain. We looked at the package and realized it was ONE curtain. We ran back and got the second, but only after having quite the laugh about it.

The next adventure was the BYU spring Blue-White scrimmage. It was snowy and cold, but Monique was a trooper and sat in the snowy weather with me so I could watch the spring game.  (Monique: It was REALLY cold, but totally worth spending the time together.  Plus we saw a kid face-plant.  She tripped on the step and  went face-first timber-style into the landing... because she had her arms tucked in her coat and couldn't catch herself.  Then her friends had to pull her coat off her because she couldn't get up.  The whole time all three of them were laughing, so we took the liberty of laughing too.)  Although we probably would have laughed anyway.  We're still laughing about it.

We played Jenga for part of Family Home Evening tonight. This was immediately after we went to get ice cream at Macey's. Anyway, I ended up winning! Huzzah! Anyway, I'm sure Monique has a different view of how things went than I do, but, this is what I get for being the one to write. It's my story, and now it's history.

Anyway, there is a quick update from the last week. I love my wife! That's all.  (Monique: and I love my husband!)

We did it!

John and I have a blog!! This is a boring post; but, hey, we needed to post something to make sure this thing is running smoothly! I promise when it's not so late and we have more time to ponder, we'll post again!
Lots of love!
