Fairytale Festival

Today we went to the Fairytale Festival, held downtown at Caras Park.  Hailey was pretty excited when I told her we would get to dress up in the morning as a princess.  She immediately got out all of her tutus and found matching shirts for each (we have four of them).  I was super surprised when she pick the blue over the yellow....maybe we are turning a new leaf with colors (I doubt it).  She then proceeded to get all of her beads, bracelets, rings, and high heel princess shoes out.  After figuring out her outfit she said, "What is Sydney going to wear?"  Then answered, "Nothing, she doesn't have any princess clothes."  Thank goodness Jen was able to hook Sydney up with a fairy outfit.  Big, but she at least got to dress up.

 Getting our face painted.

Each child got a FREE pair of fairy wings.  Hailey choose orange and Sydney got a pink pair.

Here is what she chose....a Popsicle.  Very princess like...huh?

Then it was sweet Sydney's turn.  She sat so still and was so good for the lady.

 Awwwwwww....

Sydney got a blue flower to match her pretty dress.

Our princesses...they are so sweet.

All the girls in their outfits.

Aren't they cute.  They make a great bunch of princesses and fairies.

 Getting some glitter (fairy dust)

 Now it's Sydney's turn.

Having a great time at the festival.

 Decorating wands.

Sydney's wand.  All she wanted to do was pick off all the jewels after she put them on.

 Hailey's finished wand.

Hailey is scared to death of mascots, but she insisted she sit with lady on the BIG chair.

Look at me Mommy, I got a cookie from the tea party.

A fun morning, but hot and too many people.  There were lots of activities to do, but we bailed out pretty early.  Thanks to Katie for helping out with all the girls...they are a handful.

Hailey at Play

Hailey has always been pretty good at imaginative play.  Since an early age she has been able to role-play and pretend to do tasks.  The older she gets, the better it gets.  However, she is still very much in need of having someone play with her.  Actually, you don't get to play with her, you just have to be next to her.

Hailey has really been in to stacking blocks and making towers.  She loves to create them and make a collection on the table.

As we all know, there becomes a point when kids push the limits of what us "adults" think is safe.  This is one of those things.  Hailey loves to climb this play structure...scares the hell out of me.

We can't believe how big our little girl is getting.

As I've mentioned in previous posts, Hailey is still really into crafts:  anything painting, coloring, cutting, and gluing.  Here she is painting rocks in the driveway.

We usually have at least one neighbor over to play....everyday!

 Hailey admiring her work.

Here she is painting a flower on her rock.

I have also spent some time getting independent activities put together for Hailey to do while Sydney is sleeping.  Most of them are fine-motor skills, cutting, etc.  This gives Mommy a few minutes each day.

Playing kitchen, one of her favorite things.

Hailey set up a campfire and then insisted we roast marshmallows....I guess why not.

 This is pretty fun!

 Fun at the splashpad.

Spraying the kids at the park!

Sydney....20 Months

All of the sudden, Sydney has grown up.  She is no longer a baby.  Although she is only 20 months old and very small, you would never guess it.  She acts like a 2+ year old.  She amazed Kevin and I everyday with what she is doing.  The best word to describe Sydney is INDEPENDENT.

Sydney Alex Papp
20 Months
About 21 lbs.

Sydney is a mover.  She is on the go constantly...not walking, but usually running.  She is way more active than Hailey ever was.  Not only is she always going, but she is always climbing.  Her new favorite place to hang out is on the computer desk.  She climbs right up and sits.  Sydney is a real bugger to take to a restaurant.  She refuses to sit in a highchair, but when she sits on her own she can't sit still or wants to be in someones lap.  Sydney is walking the stairs in our house up and down (with the support of the rails).  You have to really watch her though...she loves to jump off the stairs to Mommy or Daddy.

 Our little climber.

All smiles on the rocking chair.

Stop...your drinking my milk.

Helping Hailey to rinse.

Coloring time!

Sleeping is still going well for Sydney.  She has been sleeping in until 8 and most mornings I have to wake her so we can take Hailey to school.  Napping is also going smoothly.  She "usually" rests from 1-4.   She has started trying to climb out of her crib and I have found her several times balancing on her tummy, ready to fall out.  So, we have tried putting her in Hailey's bed and the little inflatable bed (but she just gets up).  We are going to have to do something soon...it won't be long and she will be able to get out of the crib.

 Playing with the choo, choo.

 Wow...look at it go!

I bet you can't do this!

Sydney is blowing us away with her language development.  She is talking in short phrases/sentences.  She is also very easy to understand...not having to do a lot guessing what she is trying to say to us.  She is starts conversations, pretend plays, asks questions, and really remembers and uses new words.
Here are some of her most frequent phrases:  These are all I can think of off the top of my head...so many more.
  • I do it, I hold, I got it.  (all day long, 100 times a day)
  • I help do it.  (also 100 times a day)
  • More again (for anything she wants to do again)
  • I do it myself
  • I go too.  I coming too.
  • Where Daddy go.
  • What Hailey doing,
  • Turn my stars on.
  • I want a song.
  • Dinner ready.
  • Baby go ni, night.
  • I buckle myself.
  • I play game. (on my phone).
  • Me color too!
  • There Jenny car.  Go to Jenny house.
  • Milo barking, Avery crying.
  • Airplane in sky...Daddy.
  • I go shopping with Mommy.
  • I talking to Nana (pretending on her phone)
  • Shoes on, outside.
I just think this is a funny picture.

The girls on the slip n' slide...they both love it.

If your at the pool, this is where Sydney will be.
What Sydney is up to these days:
  • Riding her bike to the mailbox (or pushing her bike).  Carrying the key with her.
  • Playing with Hailey.  They are finally playing pretty well together and Hailey looks forward to Sydney getting up from her nap to play.  They love to cook in their pretend Kitchen.
  • Going to the pool.  Sydney loves the water.  She is a fish.  She throws herself around, in and out of the water (going under most of the time).  Sydney is in love with the slide at the pool.  She climbs right up...passes all the other kids and squeaks right in (cutting in front of everyone).  I have tried to stop this and have her wait her turn, but she doesn't get it.
  • Drawing with chalk.  She loves to walk around and draw lines on the sidewalk.  She also likes to have her hands and feet traced.  There is an outline of her body at the entrance to our house that has been there for weeks and doesn't seem to wash away...she loves it.
  • Putting the dishes away with Hailey.  She hands each piece of silverware to Hailey and then Hailey puts it in the drawer.  They love doing this together and Hailey loves it because it makes her chore go faster.
  • Coloring.  If Hailey is coloring, so is Sydney.
  • Cleaning up.  She sings the little clean up song we made up.  It's funny, there are a lot of times she insists on cleaning up before we leave the room.  She gets made if things aren't put away.
  • Singing.  Her favorite right now is Rain Rain Go Away.  She sings it randomly throughout the day.  She also sings Blow the Balloon.  If you ask her what color of balloon she has, she will say rainbow (that's what color Hailey always says).
  • Running around naked.  If you take her diaper off she will run away from you....laughing the whole way.  She thinks it's such a game.
  • Shoes off.  She is awesome at coming inside, sitting by the door and taking her shoes off.
  • Brushing her teeth is a nightmare.  She WILL NOT let us anywhere near her when she has her brush.  Lets home she's doing a good job herself.  Sydney has 16 teeth right now and her last set of molars are coming in.
  • Misses Hailey.  From the time we drop Hailey off at school until we pick her up, she asks for Hailey.  She will say, "Where Hailey at," and then answer her own question, "At school."  She also says, "Lets get Hailey."
  • Won't sit in a shopping cart.  I am almost at the point where I can't go anywhere with Sydney.  She won't sit in the cart.  She asks to walk or push the cart.  I buckle her in (the tightest I can) and she can get out.  It is pretty frustrating.
  • The bathroom.  She asks to go to the potty 20 times a day.  She'll say, "I poop...quick."  Then when she gets there she usually goes.  She loves to sit on the toilet and say "plunk" when she hears the splash in the potty.
 Chalk time!

 Her favorite outdoor play toy!

 So chill.....
Ahhh....aren't they sweet.

Our big, little girl.  You are so grown up, so sweet and such a stinker.  We love you!
