Christmas?

Just wanted to share with you something that i looked up tonight while waiting on Shaun to come home from school. I don't know how accurate it all is due to lack of research, but i thought it was interesting! Go to http://wilstar.com/xmas/xmassymb.htm Notice the "candy cane" story where it is referred to as "almost certainly false" i kinda like the idea or thought of what a candy cane symbolizes :) Also, I wanted to post this from the online dictionary;

Meaning of Merry Christmas

The word "Merry" is simple to define. It unquestionably means to be happy, joyful and light-hearted. The word "merry" fits into the ambiance of laughter and frivolity.
The World Book Encyclopedia defines "Christmas" as follows: "The word Christmas comes from "Cristes Maesse", an early English phrase that means "Mass of Christ." (1)
The word "Mass" in religious usage means a "death sacrifice." "Merry Christmas"= "Merry
death of Christ"

Any absolutely, positively, 100%, without a doubt, cold hard facts (Biblical) about any of this is welcome!!!

Our first day in the snow!!!!

Our first snow day was the most exciting 30 minutes of our little boy's lives! But please understand, the 30 minutes was not how long they lasted outside, but instead was 27 minutes of getting them dressed, + 3 minutes of play time= 30 minutes total ! They were absolutely thrilled at the thought of playing in the snow and making a snowman. Then they went out in the windy cold weather, slid around, figured out the snow was just too fluffy to make anything, and came back in the house. I took Seth inside after about 2 minutes, and 1 minute later, i heard a knock at the door. When i opened the door, Noah said plain-and-simply, "We're done." here's a few pictures i did manage to take;

I couldn't resist this one...

Seth felt as fluffy as the snow, just a little heavier!

Give Thanks Always

Just wanted to share this song with you. I began singing it before bed tonight, and listened to it on "You Tube" It's literally been years since i last heard this song...give thanks because of JESUS!!!
I pray that you all have a great thanksgiving!

Give Thanks

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks unto the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son
Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks unto the Holy One
Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son

And now let the weak say, "I am strong"
Let the poor say, "I am rich Because of what the Lord has done for us"
And now let the weak say, "I am strong"
Let the poor say, "I am rich Because of what the Lord has done for us"

just a little update

I just wanted to update my blog. I miss blogging all the time, but i had to prioritize and some things had to be changed! Not too much going on, Shaun is a trooper with school getting right through first semester! Noah has had the flu since Sunday night, although he was back to himself today by the time lunch rolled around. Running jumping, ordering his little brothers, and keeping me on my toes! I just thought that i would show some pictures of what's been going on this last week.

what a beautiful weekend...we took the boys to Bear's Mill and walked on the trails!

Look closely, it's baby powder! Who on this earth would do something like that to their little brother?

what your not going to see? The ONLY way i knew how to get this much powder off of him...turning on the vacuum...poor little guy!

what is this you say? Oh, well let me explain; the "spot" on the door is where Seth's head hit the door as he was running to go into his brother's room. it looks a lot higher, but it's only 2ft off the floor.

Their regular rec. time with daddy!

Our Dear V.J.

Don't be alarmed by the picture you are going to see, it's just V.J. yes, still alive and breathing (by the Grace of God). I don't mean that to be light about the situation, but if it weren't for our God being in complete control of things Vaughn Jaydon would not be around right now. We've had so many near misses with him, yet all while escaping the E.R. .

I put the boys down for a nap a few minutes ago, and went into check on them, and this is what i found with our "funny man." The seriousness of the situation (although seeing him made me laugh) is that he does this kind of thing on a regular basis. Shaun went into check on him about a month ago (again nap time) and Vaughn was constricting his breathing with a belt tied around his chest, just under his arms. Shaun said that it scared him, because Vaughn had tied it so tight that Shaun couldn't get his finger underneath the belt. He said the only reason he went into their room, was because he felt like he was urged by the Holy Spirit to go check on him...amazing! We've unwrapped a plethora of "things" from his neck, fingers and legs. Not to mention digging things out of his mouth. The Lord is absolutely in control of little Vaughn, he is one little living testimony that our Father is real...there is no coincidence here.

Vaughn is compassionate, forgiving, funny, musically inclined (?), loud, needy, and should i mention a dare devil? With all of these characteristics though, his only hope rests on our Savior...thank you Jesus!

Seriously, what in the world goes through this child's head?

To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul...

To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul; In you I trust, O my God. Psalm 25:1

Psalm 25 was my reading this morning before leaving for Chicago. I randomly turned to it, and this was what i read (awesome!) How perfect this was for me today...and everyday! I do encourage you to read this, it is such a good prayer to pray to our Father! Such a wonderful prayer to pray for others (see verses 4 & 5) like our husbands, children, friends and even our enemies! what a blessing to my heart, and I'm passing this on to share with the rest of you, so maybe it would also be a blessing to you!!!!

Random thoughts

I feel as though I have hardly anything to blog about, but I miss blogging so here I am. Can you believe Shaun just interrupted me stating; " I can't believe your not watching the debate?" Honestly, I am so against Obama that NOTHING he says will persuade me to even think about tossing a vote in his favor. So, I feel quite comfortable knowing that my husband will relay all the highlights, and I can continue on with my random-ness!

To say the least, I have had so many challenges and even more blessings the last 6 wks. ! I'm still adjusting to Shaun's school schedule, and all the mundane things in life that just seems harder now that Shaun is busy with school/work 80 hrs. a week. on top of that God has mixed up MY world a little and got me out of that "comfort zone" that I was quite happy in. I've been told it's a good thing, but it's been a little ground shaking for me. No worries, I know it's all part of a divine plan, and I pray that i can submit to that plan and choose to obey!
This past Wed. we were in Xenia for a funeral (Shaun's grandmother past away) we knew the time was coming, it was all a matter of when. But that took all day, in the middle of the week which in turn threw me off once more...but it's all okay, REALLY!
Chicago is just 2 wks away! very excited about that...I've heard we won't get much rest, but what a thrill to spend 3 days focusing on the Lord! No interruptions, no laundry, cleaning, screaming, demanding, yelling. Just God and Jessi...ahhh...i will miss the kisses the hugs, the laughs, their dirty faces, and Shaun coming home with a sigh of relief to just be here! I know this is only 3 days, but hey, it's my first trip away from my family!
Women's study this fall is Jesus the One and Only a Beth Moore study, and a verse popped out at me and inspired me to make a sign to hang in our dining room. Luke 1:31,33 "...and you shall call Him Jesus...His kingdom shall have no end." I'm not one to cut and chop up verses, but these are the parts of the verse that stick out to me, so I made a sign to remember it. Something to meditate on throughout the days. Jesus. Jesus? Jesus! You are real (period), You are a wonder (question mark), and You alone are pure joy (exclamation)! I love you, Jesus!
