I feel like it's been such a long time since I posted last. And although nothing remarkable has happened, other than us surviving another month, I figured I could post some of our recent picts. I don't have any pictures from Thanksgiving, I still need to harass a few friends to get those.. but aside from normal busy life this is what we got pictures of.
Oh - here are the picts we got from the ward Halloween party. Again, Elayna was crying about having to wear the dress that John and I forcefully put on her. We promised to take it off - ONLY if she would smile for some pictures. She got a few ran off the mat and demanded that we take the dress off, all with the meanest grumpiest face! Quite the contrast to these cute smiles. The dress has since been shipped to a smaller, hopefully more appreciative little cousin!
Tyler in all his glory. Though I do have to give the kid a break since he was running a fairly high fever that day and the next. Where is Weston - we don't know. He was too busy playing to allow a picture to get taken.
Really I was just in a bathrobe and a towel. Too wimpy to put on a thick layer of face cream to complete the look. John was wearing a set of coconuts and a hula skirt. We didn't plan it - we just went like that, but someone mentioned we looked like the movie "South Pacific " So we went with that.
The library had a "read to dogs" activity. It was rather odd and short, but since there were dogs involved all 3 of the kids were ecstatic!
I was home one day while they were vacuuming up the leaves off the side of the road.. (really nice service they do here. You just rake your leaves to the edge of the road and they vacuum them up every so often). Anyway - I remembered a rather large stick that got pushed down with the massive pile of leaves we had, and got worried when the truck stopped and the workers started fiddling around with everything. I thought we had broken it. I waited out of shame and guilt. But they wouldn't leave, and since I had too. I went out and talked to them. Found out they truck was full and they were waiting for a new one to come (hazard of the newer, nicer, but smaller trucks) But I heard some awesome stories from the workers about strange things being sucked up in the hose - including cement yard decorations, live cats, and yes even a worker - luckily his hips were bigger than the hose. And yes - I'll repeat!! A live cat!
Another visit to COSI... if parking were free we'd be there most every day!
Yup - that's Elayna picking her nose and wearing leggings- only. I love that she has personality and opinions. But sometimes I wish she didn't look so much like the rest of the family when we are out in public!
Strange, uncomfortable looking chair. I agree. But it was cool up close. And sitting on it - was so much more comfortable than you would guess - especially after walking around COSI for 4 1/2 hours.
Our friends the Eyre's pig Luau had her piglets.. And I missed being in Sequim for a short minute. I loved Aja's pict. It looks so much like Babe.
Columbus city had a big Christmas celebration night. Santa was supposed to come in on helicopter and then there were all sorts of activities inside the capitol building. I was a little pushy on the boys behalf (some one naively) and both of them got CREW scarfs from the CREW Cat! Very cool - It's the Columbus Soccer team. The boys were thrilled!
There were so many people we didn't get to all the booths, but frantically tried to at the end so we could get a stamp in their 'fun' passports and get the prize at the end. Which ended up being a mouse pad with the capitol building on it. So none of them wanted it and I felt silly for trying so hard. Anyway - at the end, they had the face painting right before you saw Santa and Mrs. Clause. Weston and Tyler got right to business. Elayna just sat there admiring all the pink and purple paints. Finally she was convinced to let the girl paint a little pink star on her cheek. And then when she realized what it was all about.. Elayna then had the girl paint every possible design on her face so she ended up with like 5-6 little paintings on her face.
They each were going to sit alone for a picture, but Weston had to sit with Elayna for a second picture.. He was just too excited! Which was fine since Elayna wasn't sure about a strange guy in red holding her.
We didn't get snow until Dec. 1 and then it was just a little dusting. But a couple weeks later we came home from church to find a blanket of white everywhere. Weston wanted a fire. Elayna just wanted to play. Tyler had to go outside and play in the snow. He was out for a good 20 minutes before coming in - realizing it was really cold at 5 degrees, windy and snowy weather! And yes he was tasting the snow, which he has done a few times since, but usually the brown snow off the car - ya gross!
Weston and John working on the fire situation.
Elayna playing with all the nativities. And just making a general mess.
We didn't have any fire wood - so we were using sticks from behind the house - left from when the trees were trimmed. Weston was so excited he volunteered to go out and get them as frequently as needed. But he's not stupid - he remembered at least to get on boots and a coat before going out.
And most of you should have gotten our Christmas card by now, if not I don't have your address. So pass that along if you want to be on our list for next year. But here it is! Merry Christmas! 4 days and counting!!!
