Quilt Show

For a few years now I have been a part of the Loch Lomond Quilters group. We have now exchanged blocks for 5 quilts. It is such a fun hobby and I feel lucky to be a part of something so great. The women in this are so talented and inspire me to be creative and artistic. We decided for our September exchange to turn it into a Quilt Show open to the public. It will be held outdoors in Lehi, weather permitting. We just wanted to show ourselves and others what fun it is to do something like this. Anyone within driving distance is welcome to attend. so please come and share in the fun, food, prizes, etc. There won't be many of my quilts there to show because I am the slowest of the group. Most of my quilts are sitting with their tops peiced together, and I haven't had them backed, quilted and bound yet. Someday :) I mean that. There are some ladies in the group that are like robots and they turn out several finished quilts per year. I hope to one day have the time for such a fun hobby. Hope to see you there!

Welcome Home Shan.....and thank you!

After serving for 15 months in Iraq, my brother-in-law Shan is back with his family. I cried through the pictures on their blog. I can imagine how happy they are to have their dad back. My sister, Marisa, is one of the strongest people I know. She got through this last year with flying colors and truly made sacrifices to let him serve our country. I am truly grateful and proud to know them. I got to talk to Shan on the phone tonight and he sounded so happy :) I hope this month is all about catching up and taking time to just be together. I wish I could be a fly on the wall to witness the kids and their excitement with their dad home.

Payson Lakes

Last weekend we went camping with some great friends of ours, Scott and Megan. I stole these pics off of their site, because true to my nature, I remembered everything under the sun for the trip except the camera. I am the worst! Anyways, it was a fun two day get-away.

I forgot how pretty it is up the Nebo Scenic Byway. I was glad to get away from the city for some much needed R&R. Camping is the only time when I can do absolutely nothing but just sit and enjoy nature, and not feel like I wasted time. In fact, it is time well worth sitting for :)

We had fun breaking out our kayak and singing songs around the campfire. We were singing a "round" of Row Row Row Your Boat. Ethan was a little confused the the whole "round" idea, and when we finished he turned to Megan and said "You were way behind".

I also tried a new kind of Smore, thanks to Scott. He showed me that replacing the Hershey's chocolate with Milk Duds gives the old fashioned treat a little twist. Yum!

AAAACHHHOOO!

I am so sick of sneezing, I can't even tell you! I just had to complain publicly for a minute. Is anyone else suffering from the end of summer allergies that are tormenting me? I have had them so bad this year. My eyes are permanantly puffed out and the bags are almost down to my chin, I swear. I wake up several times per night because I can't breathe, I have to blow my nose, etc. Poor little Ethan and Jade have been pretty bad as well. I never thought I would say this, but I am actually wishing for colder weather now to end this. I am currently taking three medications, and yes, they take the edge off....but just the edge. I would love to hear if anyone else is going through this!
