Here are some new posters for AVP-Turd. The images (top ones) themselves look pretty cool, I'll give them that. Why, I'd almost be inclined to buy that there Alien poster. The predator helmet looks similar to the one in PREDATOR 2, while the Alien looks very similar to an AVP1 image (used for the dvd). But don't let these posters fool you.... the movie is going to suck. I implore you to not see it. Oh, and I guess they changed the release date from December to January. Always a good sign, right?
This past saturday was the 3rd Annual JIMSMASH Halloween Party. I want to cry. I also want to cockpunch some people and make them puke, then make them slurp it up and repeat. Just when I thought the news of the lame ass fucking Predalien in the shitty upcoming movie ALIENS VS PREDATOR: REQUIUM (aka "AVP-R", "AVP2", "Piece of Shit by Douchebags") couldn't get worse, I read this bullshit....
apparently have zero idea of the creature's life-cycle.... or zero clue as to what's a good idea and what's a horrible stupid lame idea.
I am calling it now, in the next outing, the alien will have bat-wings and fly.... and breath fire..... and talk.... in slang.... and wear a hockey mask.
GEORGE LUCAS, please come in and save the Alien franchsise!... anything you do will be an improvement!!!

We watched PUMPKINHEAD last night! Man I love this movie... its a cool, fun, kickass Halloween flick with a great Demon of Vengeance. Plus it has nice lighting! I have to watch it every Halloween. Go rent it!

ERIC POWELL ("The Goon") is currently handling art chores on the Bizarro storyline in Action Comics. It's also being written by Geoff Johns and Richard Donner - yes, THAT Richard Donner! While I'm not really digging the story, the ART is pretty sweet at times... which is what I'd expect from Powell. Check out this double-page spread from Action #856, of the BIZARRO DOOMSDAY unleashing fury on a bunch of Bizarro Supermen! When I saw this page, my geeky eyes got wide in glee. Boy, would I love to have the original art pages of this bad boy!!!!!

I fucking knew it. I was told by many to "have faith" that they'd do it right..... Well here's the first look at the PRED-ALIEN from AVP-R (AVP2). It looks like some lame intergalactic space alien Hulk Hogan fights.... with fucking dreadlocks. The body looks like Pumpkinhead.... the mandibles are waaaay too fucking big...the chest looks like cheap halloween body armor and don't even get me started on the dreadlocks. I blame whoever put into ALIEN 3 the idea the Alien takes on characteristics of its host. I feel the Alien is what it is, and looks the same regardless of its host. BAH!!!!!!
The U.S. Post Office released the new YODA postage stamp! For those who weren't keeping up, months back they released a full sheet of various STAR WARS characters, then had a vote-in for fans to pick which character would get their own full sheet. YODA won, baby.

Before the horrible kiddy cartoon and silly toyline, HE-MAN & THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE was fucking awesome! It was much more in the realm of CONAN and FRAZETTA fantasy imagery. In its fledgling days there were only 8 figures; He-Man, Skeletor, Man-At-Arms, Teela, Mer-Man, Stratos, Zodac and Beastman. Each figure came with a kicass mini-comic that was more "storybook" than sequential "comic book", and they ruled. Unfortunately, the MOTU's coolness level lasted only 4 measly books and was then re-imagined of sorts into the horrible horrible silly lame cartoon most people know and remember.
Quick addition: Originally, the Sorceress looked like a green Teela in the snake garb. Later she became the one most people know with the bird motif. It was during that time that it was revealed (or retconned???) that Man-At-Arms was Teela's father, and the Sorceress (unbeknownst to Teela) was her mother.
During those short short early days, there was no lame alter-ego Prince Adam. There was no Orko. It was great fun imaginitive Sword & Sworcery. It wasn't until the 3rd wave of mini-comics did those lame ideas come forth, and many young fans ran to the hills screaming in sadness. I still have those first books, and they still rock. And because I love you all so much... well, those who read this entire silly post... Here are the first 3 books: ONE, TWO and THREE!
Anyone else remember these toys? I had DRACULA and CREATURE FROM BLACK LAGOON. They were very similar to the STAR WARS figures of the time (early 80s), and they ruled. Oh, I also had the PHANTOM of the OPERA, but he was lame. I pretended he was another vampire to fight Dracula. He always lost. Why? Because no one beats Dracula, baby. Sadly, I did not have any of the playsets. Dig that old skool catalog ad! Man, I lived for the XMas edition SEARS and JCPENNY catalogs! The Toy sections were the best! Anyway, Monster figures....
Hasbro is about to unleash a new line of toys called "MIGHTY MUGGS", ala Munnys but without any creativity or effort on your part. First up is STAR WARS, with later series based on MARVEL COMICS to come soon after. Meh, I'm not digging em.
Check out this 3D Modeled ALIEN, by Pär Tingström! Based on various elements, I'd say this is primarily taken from the RESURRECTION and AVP version of the Alien. The bilateral legs are the first give away; the first 2 Aliens did were not bilat. Also, there's little-to-no Biomechanical feel to the creature - something that was abandoned after ALIENS. The shortened and de-phallic head and "flipper tail" are also tell signs of the Resurrection+ version. While I'm not a fan of post-ALIENS interpretations of the Alien, I will say this a nice model. Halloween is one of the best holidays ever. As a child, I fondly recall TV channels celebrating Halloween through their programming. Nowadays, you'd barely even know the holiday approaches. But thankfully someone at AMC remembers! October is always MONSTERFEST and this year is no different. There's only a week left before Halloween, so if you haven't been renting Halloween movies (like the ones I recommended Oct 1), then tune into AMC this week. They're airing oodles of good stuff like, HELLRAISER, THE FOG, CREEPSHOW, THE BIRDS, PSYCHO, POLTERGEIST, THE HOWLING, THE FRIGHTENERS, HALLOWEEN, PET SEMETARY, and more!

I've posted before that NECA Toys now has the rights to make toys based on ALIEN and AVP-R (AVP2). Scott King sent me a cool article where one of the NECA dudes talks about their plans with the licenses. This week they've released some pics of the ALIEN WARRIOR from AVP-R which looks really nice - the figure, not the shitty movie. The figure looks like a nice amalgam of Stan Winston's Alien (head) with some Resurrection elements thrown in; end of tail, back tubes and some shoulder shape. I do like that they have returned the creature's legs back to their normal shape; non-bilateral. Not quite too keen on the giant neck goider, tho.
