| Scout at LR Zoo 5/2/12 |
At the end of June PawPaw and Grandma (Rose) came down for a visit. He really warmed up to them on this visit. We had got to go eat at Larry's Pizza, one of Scouts favorite places to eat. He has quite an appetite so free buffet for him is a awesome.
The month of June passed very quickly and the end of my 12 weeks off came to a close. I returned to work on July 2nd. Two weeks prior to my return we began preparing Scout by taking him to preschool. The first day he was there 30 minutes, the second day a couple of hours and by the end of the two week "trial", he was staying there 6 hours. He seems to like going, but the initial drop off is filled with tears, sometimes by both of us. The teacher says he usually cries about 10 minutes and then not again the rest of the day. Last week practically everyday he had to be pried off my leg in order for me to get out the door. That makes a mother feel great. This week has been a complete different story. Both Monday and today he was went right in, pillow in-hand and has went straight to playing. Today I practically had to beg for a goodbye kiss. I am so happy that he is getting over that morning anxiety.
The past few weeks he has been learning his colors. I pretty much has yellow down pat. I seems to be learning his numbers as well. When he hears 1-2-3, he hold up his fingers trying to make the appropriate signal for those numbers. He has learned the hand movements to several songs including "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" and his favorite "The Wheels on the Bus". I think we sing that song at least 10 times a day. He is also becoming more interested in coloring and play dough.
He is still obsessed with cars, truck, tractors and trains. He has a really cool Lightening McQueen that is batter operated that he can drive, a Cozy Coupe, and a wagon that he loves. Not only does he like to ride around in these, he loves to fill them with all his favorite toys and push them all through the house. He also can name every part of the outside of a car, truck and tractor.

I'll leave you with my favorite story thus far...
The other night Carson and I were in the den flipping stations and we landed on an episode of the Mentalist. Patrick Jane, one of the characters, was driving a fancy foreign sports car blindfolded. Scout was running through the house, and when he came into the room this car caught his attention, so he got on the couch with us and sat for a few minutes watching. Patrick parked the car at the top of the cliff and didn't put a parking break on. When he got out of the car the car began rolling and rolled off a cliff to a fiery crash. As the car was mid-air going down, Scout raised his arms and began yelling (slowly and drawn out) NOOOOO! NOOOO! Then it crashed and he yelled OH NOOOO! We laughed so hard we had tears in our eyes. Now he loves to crash his matchbook cars and yell oh no as he crashes them...
