(This too shall pass) גם זה יעבור

Anticipation of the future,
Bound and balanced with
Receeding retrospections of the past,
Puts us in a state of tension,
Of restless meditation,
For the moment is fleeting.

Yet that is all we have - the present -
Book-ended by the yellowed pages of the ages.
Before evenings fade and morning ends.
Perhaps that's exactly what it is: a Present
for now, for free, for us.
And all that is required, (perhaps?) is simply be present.

ἐν ῥιπῇ ὀφθαλμοῦ (en rhipēi ophthalmou - In the twinkling of an eye)
O quam cito transit gloria mundi (How quickly the glory of the world passes away)
גם זה יעבור‎ (gam zeh ya'avor - This too, shall pass)

Tomorrows may never arrive,
and Yesteryears are cast into the ocean of time;
Irretrievable.
Thus, help us, now, to live - constantly - in the moment,
And so redeem our days.
Amen.
