Update

I am going to do a short version of what's been going on for the past 3 months. I need to be better at blogging so Jonas doesn't think I didn't care as much. We will start with his baby blessing and go from there. Jonas was blessed on October 24th and we were lucky to have family with us. The entire Anderson clan came and my parents and Grandpa came. It was neat to have my grandpa here so we could take a 4 generation picture. Also, he had not met Parker yet. Oh, and a sidenote, I was lucky my mom could be with us for 3 weeks to help out around the house. I miss my family a lot! Halloween was fun this year since Parker could understand what was going on. He loved getting candy in his pumpkin and saying "Trick or Treat"! He was a pumpkin this year. What's really neat is that my sister wore that same costume. Jeremy took him to our ward Halloween party while I stayed home with Jonas. Since I couldn't go to the party, I took Parker around the neighborhood with some friends of ours. I love Halloween and was a little sad that I didn't get to do as much as I wanted to but we'll always have next year! We also took the boys to the pumpkin patch. That has become almost tradition. Parker picked out a BIG pumpkin and got a little one for Jonas. He loves his brother and is always looking for ways to help! We had Thanksgiving here at home. I love cooking everything myself anyways, and we had some good food! We went over to our friend's house later that night for dessert. I am so glad we have such good friends here! I will miss them dearly. Jeremy and I decided to start following the paleo diet so we could feel better and perform better in our exercises. It has been going well. We allow ourselves a "cheat" meal and it's not a horrible eating plan. I enjoy the way I feel. Anyways, we started that during this holiday season and it was hard, I'm not gonna lie! We had an awesome Christmas! We were very blessed this year! We went over to our friend's house on Christmas Eve and had dinner. On Christmas day, we went over to a friend's house and had a nice meal. AND we played some new Wii games we got! The main one being Just Dance for kids. Well, that launched a WHOLE new hobby for my friend Jen and I. We rented Just Dance and I was over there for several hours and didn't even realize it! I love that girl! I think we're about the only crazies that play that game to "perfect" our dance moves. It's not just for fun....haha. New Year's Eve was a CrAzY night! We had a progressive dinner with the ward and it was soooooo fun! Lots of good memories with great friends. Later, we went over to the Petersons and played games and Rockband with the Dighans. Fun times! On New Year's Day, we lounged around and played our new Wii game, Donkey Kong. Soooo fun! I was pooped from about Christmas Eve on. Parks and I have enjoyed having Jer around more before he starts his LAST semester!!! I can't even believe. It's almost surreal. Well, that's all for now!

Jonas's birth

Jonas Takumi Anderson was born on October 9, 2010 at 11:38am. I had some contractions the early mornings of that day and decided to go to the hospital. I was not in "real" active labor but had contractions. The baby was also not reacting to the contractions so they decided I was going to stay and have the baby. It made me nervous when they were telling me this about the baby. They started pitocin at 4am and also started me on an IV since I had Group B Strep. That stung like a mother! I was doing very well and even slept a little but by probably 8ish the contractions started to get stronger and stronger. I can't remember what time Dr. Jones came to the hospital and broke my water. Maybe 7? I decided to hold out and try this on my own. After a LONG time of doing this on my own and the contractions coming a minute apart, I decided to get an epidural. Yes, my anesthesiologist was not the best I had...one of my legs was completely numb. It was very different from the one with Parks. I was able to relax some more but not for very long. I remember all of a sudden it felt like my epidural had worn off and I was asking Jer if that was normal. Like he would know..haha! And then I told him to go get someone. Turns out I was ready to have this baby. I didn't think I could wait for my doctor to get "prepped" and for the team to be all there. I do remember them asking me if a guy could watch the birth. He was training to be one of the guys in the ambulance I think. Anyways, at that point of labor you don't really care who's in the room as long as someone can get rid of the pain! I told Jer, invite the whole class of med students to watch, I don't care! Well, Jonas came in 5 minutes and I pushed 3 times. I couldn't believe how fast he came. I pushed from my chest and stomach because I remember not wanting to push from my head. Yes, a few days later my chest did hurt. Sorry, just want to add little things I remember from his labor. Jonas came out and did not make a sound. I didn't realize this of course because of all the commotion but apparently he made no noise. They put him on my chest and of course he was beautiful! I remember a little blue. Again, I had no idea. Oh.....right after I got the epidural, my blood pressure went down real fast and I threw up. I remember telling the nurse I don't feel well and told Jer to get a bucket and throwing up. They pumped something to help the blood pressure get back up so in the end, I had 5 things going through my body. Yeah, I didn't like that but oh well. Back to the birth...so Jonas didn't cry. They took him from me and I thought they were doing the "normal" routine like cleaning him and checking his temperature. Well, the NICU nurses came in and nobody was saying anything to me. Jer knew and didn't want to tell me what was going on. Next thing I know, they said they were going to take him to do some extra tests. So, they gave me some lunch, which I didn't eat, and took me upstairs to my room. I was able to pass the nursery and see my son. Now mind you, I was drugged so it didn't bug me that much that he wasn't with me. They brought him into my room several hours later. My right leg was numb for about the rest of the day from the epidural but other than that, everything went well. I felt a lot better after this delivery than Parks. We went home and I was up and doing things. My mom was trying to get me to relax and sleep but I didn't feel like I needed too. In fact, I was at the grocery store 3 days later. I even surprise myself sometimes....so that's the birth story. Now I need to make sure I keep up with other events in Jonas's life!

False alarm

This weekend was quite eventful. I had a doctor's appointment and everything is still the same...2cm. On Friday, I started to cramp and have lots of contractions. That night we had an adult ward activity and being me, I went. It was a lot of fun! It was a broadway theme, so there were 6 different tables with different shows. Jer and I were part of the West Side Story group. It was so much fun! I laughed so hard, I was giving myself contractions. It didn't help that I was sitting next to Jen...lol! Well, that night the contractions were coming every 3-5 minutes and I couldn't fall asleep because of the pain. So, we went to the hospital. Long story short, they had me drink lots of water and it helped some. They wanted to induce me but I said no thanks! I was having consistent contractions and I think that's why. I told them that I wanted to go home and go to sleep. So we came home about 2 hours later. I was just dehydrated.
On Saturday morning, Jer had a Crossfit fundraiser down in Lincoln. There were several people from our group that participated and it was fun to watch. I was jealous that I couldn't participate:( They did "Fight Gone Bad" and it was a fundraiser for the Wounded Warriors. Because I didn't get very much sleep the night before, I passed out the rest of the day.

36 week checkup

So I had a doctor's appointment today. I am 36 weeks and dilated 2 cm. Last week when she checked me, I was barely a 1 so she said I am making good progress. When we said we'll see you in a week, she half joked and said if not sooner. I was like yikes! I told her to not joke about it because I would like to have this baby in October if possible and she said, "Alison, October is a ways away..." So now my husband is freaking out and worrying and here I am...chill for once!

Labor Day Weekend

We decided to take a last minute trip to Kansas City. Our family "trips" have always been to Wyoming or Utah for Jer's family. So we decided to do something for ourselves. It was an awesome weekend! Kansas City is very nice and I was impressed with how much there is to do there but also the fact that you can get out of the city and it's still beautiful. They do not have a Disney Store here in Omaha (sad I know!) and the closest one happens to be in Kansas City, so we took Parks there. He was in heaven! He was soooo happy! We let him pick out 2 stuffed animals and he chose Woody and Nemo. He is into Toy Story right now so he was playing with all Buzz and Woody toys. I also found a really good Asian Market and that was the highlight of my trip! haha! I haven't found one with a lot of Japanese stuff here in Omaha, and could have stayed at that store forever. We went to a Royals game that night and Parker loved it! We had awesome seats right by 3rd base. We ate lots of "bad" food but you have to at a baseball game right?! The next morning, we went to Independence, Missouri to visit church sites. We then headed up to Liberty and saw the jail that Joseph Smith was in. That was a neat experience. They have the original key to the jail and built the visitor's center around the jail. I enjoy learning and seeing the history of our church and all the pioneers went through.
On Labor Day, I went shopping with my good friend to the outlet malls. I got some killer deals on kid clothes. I bought the baby's "coming home" outfit. It is so dang cute! Hopefully, the baby will be born in October like it's supposed to be b/c it is a Halloween outfit! And I bought Parker some cold weather clothes since he doesn't have any. Then we went out to eat at Cracker Barrel! One of my favorite restaurants. I love southern food! That night we went to a friend's house and had a barbeque. It was a lot of fun! So many of our good friends I will miss when we leave Omaha.

Pregnancy differences

So I wanted to write how different this pregnancy is than Parker's.

Baby #2:
Very sick. I don't know why they call it morning sickness...it's ALL day.
Lost weight.
So far have gained 26 pounds all in belly.
Exercised until week 32. (was banned by the doc)
Eating the same thing everyday! (cereal, bagel with peanut butter and jelly, lots of fruit)
More irritable.
Lots of contractions and pressure.

Parker:
Threw up only twice.
Gained 45 pounds everywhere.
Did not exercise.
Had cravings for about a week and then it was over. It was food that I never ate and did not like. (Subway, buffalo wings, Spicy Chicken sandwich, In & Out milkshake) no wonder I gained!
Really bad heartburn.

School

Jer started his last year of law school!!!! We are almost done! He is working at the Douglas County courthouse still and has more night classes this year. Parker and I are getting into a routine again and it has been rough. He decided he doesn't need naps anymore, which is tough on me. He is also throwing tantrums when he has to go to bed at night. I guess it's a good thing we are having these issues now since I will be so sleep deprived in several weeks. I have 6 weeks left before this baby is due. This pregnancy has been so much harder than Parker. I have had more issues and have to be very careful. I was banned from exercising at about week 32, which is really hard for me. I guess I have to remember that the baby comes first and not be selfish. Also, I am VERY moody:) We have been busy getting ready for this little one. We decided to not find out what we are having, although some people have it in their minds it is a boy. (It really annoys me) We keep telling Parker about the baby and I think he is slowly grasping the idea, but who knows with him! This ultrasound pic is at the 20 week mark.
